- Have you ever wondered how exactly encrypted email works? Maybe not, but I still think it's worth knowing. PGP is an old but still widely used technology, and this video will explain how it works as well as how to use it yourself (and why you may not want to).

I love PGP! But I don’t know anybody who uses it. I only use my key to send encrypted messages and files to myself.
I am grateful that I was able to purchase a license to PGP 9.8.1 years ago. 😊

You can do all this in Mozilla Thunderbird with only a few clicks. Much easier than using command line.

No mention of email forwarding services like AnonAddy and SimpleLogin offering PGP support? Although for SimpleLogin this feature is behind a paywall.
My next video is gonna be all about email forwarding, including services and features, so just hang onto that one :)
You said there is a "New" option on top on GPG for Mac. I couldn't find any option to create a message and encrypt it. How do I encrypt and decrypt a plain text message without creating a file?
Unfortunately I'm currently without a Mac and this video is almost two years old. I'm not sure what may have changed in the graphical interface since this was made, and I don't have a Mac at the moment to go test it myself. I recommend checking the software's website for any tutorials or maybe some forums where you can go ask other users. I wish I could be more helpful. :(
Thank you for the video, very helpful. At the end you said not to use PGP with existing providers such as GMail & Yahoo Mail. Which secure email provider do you recommend we use? Countermail seems like the ONLY truly private, secure provider on the market today; however, it's only open to newcomers via an invite code from an existing user. What alternative email providers do you recommend, please? Thanks! 👍🏻

I made a mistake. Small, but big enough to warrant a reupload.
Small note some email system once you decrypt you email the system stores the clear text version of the email not the encrypted email.
(I know MS outlook used to do this)
