You have to remember:
The first time Michael did his routine, people probably laughed and Michael felt proud. In typical-Michael fashion, though, he refused to stop before his joke went too far or went on too long, resulting in the unfortunately awkward situation in the scene.
That pretty much sums up Michael's humour.

Just a reminder that when Michael introduces his Blind Guy McSqueezy character in season 6 he mentions that “the women in my improv class hate him” which means that Michael has been continuously terrorizing his classmates for over 4 years

0:18 In this scene, Michael is actually doing good at improv, and the girl is not. In improv, the person who starts is supposed to set the scene and the characters for the other person in the improv. By just skipping and singing, she does not set up the scene or explain who the characters are. This leaves Michael in trouble because he has no idea what is going on. Luckily, he is able to save the scene by creating the situation that he is a detective who is arresting her. This is a good save on Michael's part against a crappy improv student.
That insight though
It's amateur improve, so of course there are going to be some people who aren't as good as others.

The character Bill got excited that finally Michael did not pull a gun.
1:40 The way Ken Jeong's character's eyes light up and he gives a little smile when Michael finally seems to have given up on the secret agent stuff, is just fantastic. He's happy that the improv class can get back on track, and he's happy that Michael has stopped embarrassing himself, or at least has seemed to. Great little character moment from Jeong, for a bit part.

I would guess she knew what Michael's speciality was and wanted to set the most innocent scene she could think of to minimize the risk of him doing his gun routine. As in playing an innocent girl dancing and playing.

Thought this scene couldn't have gotten any funnier but here we are.
I was so sad when I first saw Michael’s improv classmates lied because they didn’t want him to go. But recently watching the episode “Money, Pt. 1” from season 4, I noticed how his coworkers at his second job invited him to hang out with them after work. Really little detail, but I like how it subtly shows how Michael changed.
If I remember, Michael has been working on that job WAY before Jan moved with him.
They wanted to hang out with him because he wasn't desperate for their approval.
@@krazyzyko absolutely! Though I don't think that in season 2 he was desperate for their approval, but in season 4 he obviously wasn't. He was just being himself.
why is that sad? He's ruining their improv experience by being an annoying brat.
That wasn’t to show how he had changed as a person that scene showed us that Michael is a pretty normal and decent dude when he doesn’t feel like he needs to lead.
That smirk at 1:42 that Ken Jeong gives when he realizes Michael is forreal and actually doing improv is super improv.

Also gotta feel for Michael. You can tell by Bill’s face when he started with the fortune teller bit that he was close to actually becoming part of the group. Unfortunately though he couldn’t help himself.
Or he just couldn’t come up with something on the fly so he went with what he knows.
Fun fact about this scene: In an interview Steve Carell said that this scene was inspired by a guy he met at Second City who would always pull out a gun during improv sessions!
I just knew he was basing off of some improv trauma! As someone who’s done improv he was way too good at being a hilariously bad “that guy”. Brings back so many hilarious cringe worth memories

I think this and "Take Your Daughter To Work Day" are the episodes that really display what a truly lonely person Michael is. Outside of Dunder Mifflin, Michael really doesn't have anyone who really puts up with him.
He always refers to the office as his friends and family. He doesn't have anybody else.
Sometimes he hangs out with Packer. We all know what kind of “friend” he can be.
I think the reason is that in my theory, Michael had an abusive parents, his mom or maybe his stepfather, that's why he always wanted treated his coworkers like his family and why he always wanted to have kids
And what's even sadder is they have to put up with him because he's their boss. They have the option of quitting, but that's their livelihood. They have no choice but to go along with his latest antics or wild ideas.
Or… he is just annoying and egotistical in his DNA and parents did nothing to him to make him this way.
1:37 I love this. When you realize he doesn't just do the gun thing because he enjoys it. He does it because he's TERRIBLE at reacting to whatever scene is going on. And he KNOWS it. The gun is the kill switch he uses to get out of every other scene.
I love how everyone is always so calm and patient and cooperative with Michael.

I always thought that if the show went on longer that Michael would be a screenwriter or actor or something. Jim would be a businessman probably in advertising or something, he was so creative with his pranks. Pam would be an artist. Kelley would be a music video producer. Ryan would be a Silicon Valley tech guy. Toby would be a fiction writer. Daryl would be a music producer. Oscar would be a movie critic. Angela would run an animal shelter. Dwight would of course run Shrute Farms. Kevin would be a restaurateur. Meridith would be a guidance counselor (she was studying child psychology). Creed would be in some band, I don’t know. Stanley would retire. Phyllis would start her own party planning business. Erin would bounce around to different jobs, whatever felt right. Andy would teach at a school. Gabe would still be working for Jo.
Just finished watching the office through for like the millionth time and Michael really make it feel like a different show compared to the last two seasons
