- In this episode we take a used Chevy small block 350 that we found on Marketplace for $450 bucks and see if it will run well enough to stuff in the Ratmaro! My brain fell apart when you put the oil pump in without the oil pump driveshaft 😂 ive done over 3000 small block builds and it blows my mind to see someome forget it. Then the pain of the pan going on without it was the kicker 😂😂😂

I would do the same thing, budget build and have fun taking it on drives and car shows. It will turn more heads than a full resto. And, the old school Weld wheels are BaddAss

You have my luck. My 396 turned out to be a boat anchor. Lucky I have an old 77 454 farm truck motor to try.
You brought that motor and ain't no good you should put Burns rain check the crankshaft by that's a nice looking body Camaro you got

I bought a 1986 350 4bolt main with a bent /broken rod so I got a new rod and piston new bearings sense you got this running I have confidence I'll get mine going, oh if your wondering I paid $50 for the complete motor alt to oil pan😅

Definitely Mr Chedderhead works on a motor. Why did you not pull the timing cover and check the timing chain and replace it.
Not necessary just to do a test run...
I got a couple that was burning oil put up....but no noises they'll be hand a guy bought one from me $250.00 cash said he would be back the next Saturday that was 5 years ago.. Haven't seen him since....😮 26:48 heads and bearings need checked because of the milkshake

That blocking plate don't go on the ends they go in the middle to block off the egr port holes on the heads
They were molded in to the gasket, not much of a choice given…
That's why I always make sure I can hear a used engine run before I buy it .

If you can get an engine at the junkyard that's even better because you get a 30 day warranty instead of buying from marketplace and getting stuck with a POS .

Makes me feel better about the Roller L-31 i bought for $500 that wasn't stuck with a good crank etc. i bought off marketplace. looks like that had a Craigslist rattle can rebuild. Those TBI heads are Shite.

Tough luck, you can't trust anyone. I have been burned so many times on motors its nuts. I recommend seeing an engine run before forking over the cash.

That was wonderful. Thank you. I'm doing a 350 from a pile of parts I got from a kid for $205. Its at the machine shop to be built into a short block, which I will finish. I have an edelbrock on the shelf I built for it.

Rtv trick. Take the dumb ass red straw from your brake clean cans. Stuff er in the tube leave a quarter inch hanging out. (Enough to grab with pliers) pull it out for next use. Iv so far had success doing this with the same tube 4 times 🤣🤣 and no I don't put the cap back on. But you can it could be even better
Also why can't you put the rod in from the top?? Is it the sleeve? Bc iv pulled my rod with the distributor once it was a pain but I got it back in (intake was freshly put on) pulled the rod but not the sleeve.
Correct, the sleeve diameter prevented loading from the top side.
Oh no way and they put a new gasket on
I store my silicone in the freezer..it will be like new the next time you use it.

You sure that's not a 305 the flex plate from 350 is a tad smaller on center holes then on a 305.
