    Geodesics modules are visually fascinating. I wish they existed in hardware. At the same time, using them is an Enigma. It's good that you're making these videos.

      @@OmriCohen-Music Yeeessss... manuals are important. :) But the manuals don't say how to create a certain sound, such as a working chainsaw for example. Even such a fundamental thing that it's all in ratios in FM oscillators somehow went unnoticed by me.

    Wonderful tutorial as always, Omri ... I particularly enjoy how tutorials like this draw focus on specific modules and approaching them from different perspectives and, in the process, creating something satisfying to listen to. Thank you again for your energy and expertise that you share with the VCV community.

    Thank you! So glad you did a Dark Energy video, and also that you explored how to use it as a modulation source. I often forget, or don't know how, I might use something I think of as a "voice" in other ways. Also a good reminder of using scenes in Re-win Quantizer! I had also found I needed to separate the Re-win outputs from all coming from one sequencer...I had been connecting just other sequencers...I had not thought it was just a dummy cable that was needed. Thank you!

    Followed along with the tutorial during my lunch break, and that initial Dark Energy into Tap Dancer had me so hooked that I listened to it for the rest of the day. Great stuff!
    Only thing I noticed afterwards when building my own patch around this was that when you set a longer delay time on the internal vca of Dark Energy, certain note intervals (usually the bigger jumps) can produce a pop on the note change. Had to add an additional envelop and vca after it to cut of the first couple of millisecs to get rid of it.

    • @OmriCohen-Music
      @OmriCohen-Music  Před rokem +2

      Glad you enjoyed it! I will have to test this with the envelope. Thanks for pointing it out.

    • @not-things
      @not-things Před rokem

      @@OmriCohen-Music I had the decay set to 700ms, and the notes regularly arrive faster then that. Adding a Bogaudio Assign (set to 3 channels) in front of the Dark Energy to allow the notes to ring out completely and putting an envelope with a 0.01s attack after it meant that I could keep the nice sound of the Dark Energy vca fade-out without an occasional pop spoiling it.

    Nice patch, I liked the bass sound best! Dark Energy is quite good for dirty low end stuff. Would have liked a bit more focus on sound design rather than patching sequences, I've found you can get quite warm analogue sounds from this with a bit of work, and also mixing together the different outputs is great for thickening it up. However, move some of the controls slightly too far and it breaks into white noise far too easily. I feel like the range is kind of wrong, there are sweet spots which are maybe 10-15% of the available range, and anything beyond that sounds horrible! I end up using Bogaudio Offset to fine tune the modulation range, and if you're careful it's a great VCO! 😉

    Hi Omri!
    Great patch as always (but this one is especially 🤯)
    I’m almost sure that it’s possible to convert the complex modulation, as in this case, coming from Dark Energy into pitch information (and trig/gate as well). I think you already did it in one of your other patches using comparator but I’m not sure.

    • @OmriCohen-Music
      @OmriCohen-Music  Před rokem +1

      Hi, thanks so much! Yeah, you can use S&H and a quantizer to get notes from complex modulation, and you can use a comparator to extract rhythms. Just send your modulation to the comparator and play with the threshold :) Let me know if you need more help with that!

    I'm following along with the video and re-creating this (great practice for a new comer to VCV), but I keep having trouble with the bass. It doesn't change with the scene, just drones on in the same note even though I do everything the same. Any idea what I might be doing wrong?

    • @OmriCohen-Music
      @OmriCohen-Music  Před rokem +1

      @@jamalyannicguzmansierra7996 No worries :) It looks like the drums are sequenced from the trowaSoft sequencer, and also the bass is sequenced from it. The triggers for the bass though are going first through the Bernoulli Gate for probability so they don't play all the time. The glitchy voice is coming from the Macro Oscillator 2, being modulated in all sorts of ways and changing its modes.

    • @jamalyannicguzmansierra7996
      @jamalyannicguzmansierra7996 Před rokem

      @@OmriCohen-Music hey thx man. So the plaits is modulated by the cv map module? The cv is coming from?... And they also recieve triggers from the other bernouli gate?

    • @OmriCohen-Music
      @OmriCohen-Music  Před rokem

      @@jamalyannicguzmansierra7996 Yeah, it looks like it has random modulation. The CV-Map is just used to map the parameters instead of using the CV inputs. That's why the controls are moving. The other Bernoulli Gate is adding probability to the modulation source I believe.
