Danio rerio (Zebra danio) in an Agumbe Hillstream

Danio rerio (Zebra danio) is a common fish in the aquarium hobby in all its myriad captive bred forms but the wild form is still a striking fish. They are often found in loose shoals in the wild and are found in both fast and slow moving waters. You will also find a Macrobrachium shrimp with red pincers which are quite common in this area.

Sir, can you identify this fish. They are the size and shape of danios. They have brown dots on the back. The are seen in streams of Jharkhand. They collect in large numbers on sandy banks. If someone approaches, they break off. I saw them more than 60 years ago.
