- What. A. Day! This was such an amazing and relaxing at sea day on the Grand Princess. From the champagne waterfall in the Piazza to a show in the theatre, playing games in the library, shopping, and lots of music around the ship, it's hard to imagine how this day could have been any better.
Tomorrow we're in Ketchikan and we can't wait to share that adventure with you!

Princess usually has the champagne waterfall on the first formal night of the cruise. Some have another depending on the length of the cruise. Salty Dog has the best hot dogs and fries. We do it every embarkation day to avoid the crowds Glad you're having fun.
We really liked the Salty Dog! It was so convenient and we never saw a line there for food!

It certainly seems like the nightlife is way better suited for adults than Disney. I’ve only ever cruised Disney and cannot imagine doing something else, but this one looks really nice. It still looks like (what I imagine) a cruise ship should look like. The smoke wafting out of the casino is icky, but it’s good that it’s not so bad.
Those medallion things are SO cool! As a parent, I would really like that for my independent teen and preteen. And that they can find you and bring you drinks?! What? Yes, please. ❤

When we were on our Mexican Riviera Cruise with Princess we discovered the "Dunes" drink. They are so good. We came home and bought all the ingredients to make them at home. Highly recommended.

Formal nights are hard to do on an Alaskan trip. You need more clothes (layers) & rainwear for an Alaskan cruise. The last thing you want to try to cram into your suitcase is a formal outfit. Not to mention the airlines have made checked luggage a nightmare. I wish they would make the formal night for one or 2 dining rooms & keep the rest business casual / casual.

Never played Clue. We love Princess Cruises. Using the Medallion is awesome and makes the trip much more enjoyable.
We agree, the medallion (while not perfect) really does add a lot to the experience

Adam! I have only done Disney Cruises, so learning about another cruise line is a challenge. I like when share what is included in the booking and what I will need to pay extra for. The vlogs are fun to watch, most importantly, informative! Thanks for your help. When I am in Anchorage I am going to go to Java Hut!
I agree, when you know a cruise line so well it can be difficult to learn another cruise line or process. I will say, we've really loved getting to learn something different. We still LOVE Disney and there are so many things that they do better than anyone, but we've also seen how another line actually does some things better that we didn't expect. I hope you enjoy Java the Hut, it's a great little coffee shop.

I just got back from Scotland two weeks ago today. I had hot chocolate almost every day. So much different than Texas heat.
Yes, hot chocolate and hot coffee on a cruise is way different than lots of heat and sunshine and cold drinks

We actually weren't terribly impressed with the MDR food honestly. We did eat there one more time and had a much better experience!

How many formal nights do they have usually ?
I think it depends on the length of cruise. On our 7 night cruise we had 2 of them.
Give it a year or two and it will be in the charity / thrift shops. I found Louis Vuitton sunnies for 50p. Sorry but galaxy chocolate is better.
I know we've tried galaxy chocolate before, but maybe we need to try it again!
