- ノミ研ぎ用の治具を作ってみました。65mmまでなら鉋刃にも使えます。
流石にまだまだ改良の余地ありですが、一作目のプロトタイプとしては満足のいく仕上がりになりました。
補足）
ノミの刃先の角度につきましては、一般に29～30°と謂われているようですが、この治具を作るにあたり手持ちのノミを実測したところ、全部28°でした。加えて、手持ちのノミは既に自分の手で研いであるため角度が変わっている可能性もあることから、新たに新品を購入して測ってみましたが、やはり28°でした。
ただし、この角度は、裏に対する切れ刃の角度で、私が作ったタイプの治具では、単純に治具の角度を28°にしても切れ刃は28°になりません。これは背を治具に固定するためで、つまり、ノミの背と裏は並行ではないということです。
では背と裏の角度はどうかというと、これは製造元によってまちまちで、しかも微妙に個体差があったりします。更に、ノミは使用前に必ず裏押しをしますので、その際に角度が変わる可能性もあることから、一概に何度とは言えません。そのため、治具を可動式にしたわけですが、参考までに、私が一番多用しているノミの場合は、治具の角度を23.5°に調整してやると、切れ刃がちょうど28°になります。

Liked this the moment I saw it as "slider" jigs won't alter the grind angle like "wheeled" versions that sit on the stone.
This is the one I'll use for inspiration to finally build my own sharpening jig!!! 10/10 from me!!!

It looks very nice and probably works very well. I've tried a lot of different honing jigs (including Veritas, Mohoo Mohoo, and an old Stanley, etc.) but I have to say that the one from Lie Nielsen is by far the best to date - both for chisels and for planers (I don't have any commercial interests in Lie Nielsen).

A really great sharpening jig made with tremendous skill. One question though..... Are the wheels running on the oil stone? If they are. How long is it before the oil stone and wheels are worn out or damaged?

First of all, I'm sorry if my English is wrong.
Since the whetstone is always smoothed every time it is used, it is difficult to tell how much wear will result from using the jig.
The wheels wear out after about a year, depending on how often you use them.
...and here I am after all these years still sharpening chisels just using wood wedges cut to angles with my mitresaw! Same ones I'd originally cut!

Wood wedges. It's a simple and effectual method.
The funny thing about this is, this guy can probably sharpen his chisels free hand very well. I doubt he needs a jig. Anybody as accurate with hand tools as him should have no problem sharpening chisels.
