I just lost a relationship to Crystal meth that is ravaging this entire country right now. This song kept being suggested and I was taken aback as it seemed serendipitous. I lost someone years ago to the same addiction/affliction which I am recovering from as well. The hell I endured just in two months of pure insanity from him is almost captured in every word of this song. It's as if it's from his perspective. And I still love him. Because underneath the drugs and violence, we are just hurt people hurting people. But that isnt acceptable because we hsve the capacity to transcend into our true being if we shed the trauma and embody love. I hope anyone reading this knows you can change and heal and we do recover. Love yourself enough to not hurt self or others. Break generational curses and be a beacon of light in a dark place when possible. ✌️💚

So many layers here… this song awakens all the feel. Someone really special to me showed me this song during some of our toughest times together. Recovering from addiction and broken relationships, we were just two broken people who loved each other while we were trying to figure out how to love ourselves.
This comment blows my mind because same for me, somebody I loved with all my heart showed me this song, and our story was the same. Unfortunately he lost his battle with addiction and I am broken beyond repair wanting to be reunited with him

I spent an entire day trying to find an ACUTAL CD of "Men Amongst Mountains". It took a considerable amount of effort to find a retailer a) that still carried CD format b) carried anything other than "Greatest of" collections or Kidz Bop/ Now compilations. Big Thanks to FYE at my local mall for still carrying new music CDs. Love supporting these guys, can't wait to see their next concert!

While listening to this, at some point it felt familiar. It reminded me of middle school. And I didn't understand why until I read some of the comments and saw what it made others remember and feel.
My father is a drug addict. And middle school is when I started to really understand that my father was an addict and I began to hate that part of him. It's when I really started to feel that love and hate side by side. It feels like this song comes from him. I know he wants love, wants to be close to me, but it hurts.
I miss him. I want to know him. I want to give him the love he so desperately wants. But I don't think he'll change. I don't think he'll be the father I need him to be. I think that connection will only bring me pain in the end. And I'm tired of pain.

I feel this on a metaphysical level. I was engaged to someone for 2 years who manipulated me, gaslit me and used me for security so they would never have to work a day in their life. Once I started saying no and standing up for myself, they decided to cheat and leave me for someone else. I listen to this song and deep down I imagine they are singing it to me. I know that I will never be able to go back to the way I was before. But I have grown so much from the separation. You will too. I hope you're doing well now. You deserve joy.

I was listening to this song hoping to find catharsis. I read posts on this feed claiming they were listening to it and imagining the former love of their life singing it to them.
I felt the exact same way.
I was hoping to hear it and feel almost like I received an apology for abandoning me. She would tell me constantly that I was her soulmate, and the love of her life, and how she looked forward to growing old in my arms.
We got in a disagreement on our 2 year anniversary and she broke up with me.
It was hard to have to let her go, but I respected her wishes.
She would text or call me and say she misses me, we would hang out get physical and my feelings would resurface.
I couldn't handle how close she would hold me but at what a distance she would keep me.
I had to tell her I couldn't see her anymore because it broke my heart to see the love of my life when I look into her eyes, and know when she sees me she doesn't see the same.
The reason for this rant is that after listening to this song I realized that the writer (from my prospective) is narscistic and emotionally negligent if not abusive.
He never says he's sorry.
He acknowledges it was a "sin" the way he abandoned or wronged her, but never apologizes or shows genuine remorse.
He's telling the girl he wronged, that is obviously trying to protect herself from him, because she can't help herself from loving him, but knows he can never really love her back, "don't hide from me".
I think she is finally trying to move on, and that threatens the control he has over her, and inconvenience his ability to scratch the familiar itch of companionship.
I think if there is anyone that reads this and is feeling sad or longing for a love lost, know that you are worthy of being loved, you deserve to be loved, and use this time to reflect on what you have to offer and what you are not willing to accept.

I was doing yoga this morning at sunrise and this song came on my pandora, I'd never heard it before and didn't think i was actually listening until I just randomly broke down crying. I had no idea why until I googled the lyrics. My soul sometimes still aches for the love I thought was there but my being knows I deserve better.. i have a beautiful child with him and so it makes it hard for me to completely detach for whatever reason but I will never tell him this.
