Recently everytime I see someone who is battling depression or anything else I friend them and I send them paragraphs everyday giving them reasons why they're important and why they should live and that I'm here for you. The one person I tried my best to help might be dead now and I have no way to know for sure. This was the song in her goodbye video so this is what I listen too until I know she's alive or dead. I don't want people to suffer through the pain I do so I want to help as many people as I can no matter how much it mentally hurts me if I fail.

I’m 23 and being silently suffering from depression. I have childhood trauma and always been cheated on or left on by people whom I cared and loved the most. This song was introduced to me by a person who played me emotionally. He is now happily married and I hope he is happy with his wife now. My ex who left me after 5 years is now getting married. Everyone is happy. And genuinely I’m also happy for them. All I wish is peace and happiness in my life and others who are going through tough times. Hold yourself. Your time will come. i really love all the different interpretations of this song. this song personally just reminds me of the fact that there are so many things i want to do and would do, if it weren't for people making fun of others so ruthlessly. and it also reminds me that so many others, including those that would make fun of me, are dealing with things they don't want to share or they want to live a life they enjoy, but they just can't due to the reactions of others.

Absolutely. I can’t hear it as anything else but watching someone you love become someone else due to addiction.
Literally all I hear in this is meth addiction, as it's the only drug I've seen besides alcohol that's so apt at completely changing someone's personality. But unlike alcohol, it doesn't leave them sick and stumbling and it's quite possible they'll be able to convince that somehow their thought process is rational. It isn't.

I spent all last year trying to remember the title of the song and just now the lyrics came to mind. I can finally enjoy it again.
This is a very song for me. It came out around the time my grandma passed away of cancer in the hospital. She spent about a year there, taking chemotherapy with some other drugs that help subside the pain. We watched as she went from very talkative to almost unresponsive in a short amount of time. On the surface she was herself but inside she was gone. It was hard to go through. Grandma, wherever you are, I hope you're dancing to footloose and having a great time.

If alone is naming the consciousness, that you are the only one in your head, then maybe. Since others distract you from that space and make you feel like you are not alone in it.
But that is very specific.
I wouldn't say that it is an illusion if you take the usual definition of alone, which is without social contacts or feeling lonely.
I'd say that one is not alone. The moment you enter the world, there (hopefully) is your mother. Family and friends accompany you until death. Thus you may be lonely in your head, but never in the world or in your life, if you have the opportunities and take them.

it is so strange to me how a song can affect people is so many ways like this one. I have never been able to keep friends that stuck around even when I was a little kid. I recently had my best friend leave me for other people and now I do not have friends and this song helps me get through the darker times. when all I feel is sadness or darkness creeping back in, I find a place or walk while listening to this song. this song helps me realize that I am not alone and there are other people that feel that darkness to and if I work hard as many have before me then I will get through this and find the happiness.

Started listening to this song in 2019.. before our grandma passed. Couldn’t listen to this song without crying.
She passed away from Lung cancer..
Her lungs didn’t collapse during biopsy luckily, she was put in ICU..
I couldn’t say any words while I was in ICU with her.. wish I would’ve but I hope she knew I loved her.
She told me and my brother that she loved us before she went,
I wasn’t there when they pulled the cord or her heart stop beating.
She lived till 72 and had a somewhat happy life I believe!
Just wish she would have quit smoking..

I am now recovering from meth, crack and all pills.
Didn’t use any drug before she passed.
I am so happy being in recovery and I’m more thankful for my health than I ever was in the past. ❤

Hey it sucks...im 20 and my parents have no respect for what i do...whatever it is..lost 45 pounds learned guitar started cooking profesionally started tattoing on the side for a while..got 2 brothers which are criminals and basic fuckups never could keep a job..and they still respect them more than me...you cant choose your family but can choose your freinds
