Agreed. I often respect Ben's opinion, but I think he's wrong here. They absolutely need a first round next year. Number 19 pick this year could genuinely be better than a top 10 player in the same draft. Raptors fans will be thanking their lucky stars at this time next year that we "lost' the 2024 pick with an opportunity to draft a real impact player that turns the needle.
What about pick Bluin Lofulo ? He Had 6-4 in height, 6-11 in arm span and 25cm in palm width. He is point guard.

Yup, conveying in 2024 was always the best outcome. I'd rather have Poeltl than Stephon Castle or whoever at #8. Spurs want two FRPs for Jak, we only gave them one (with light protections). I was pissed at first, but the more I look at this draft, the worse it seems. People are actually convincing themselves that Clingan will be a useful player. Perkins has him at #1! smh

Some of the moves he's made hasn't really panned out. The Jacob trade was a huge mistake. He definitely overvalued the roster even though the stats and players already demonstrated we were much worse than being a center away.
You cannot always rely on the "tank" and expect to land a high draft pick. Odds are the odds at the end of the day. Team has developed so many losing habits over the last few years. Its got take a toll on our younger guys. Lets see where next season goes, key is to stay healthy 🙏

Be happy that no matter how good OG is, he is also injury prone. Be happy that Darko and the Raptors coaching staff showed how good they are at developing players and be happy that there are plenty of bigs in the draft that can help the Raptors . Next year's draft is way better so it's actually way better than we gave the pic to San Antonio this year rather than next year. Please do your research

Right before the draft I actually had a change of heart and (kind of) hoped Toronto would lose the pick. Blank slate. We still have two picks in what most consider a weak draft. Imagine picking three duds and losing your pick NEXT year? That would be BRUTAL. If Toronto can bring back the core and attract a solid free agent somehow, they will be moving in the right direction. If they can stay healthy, they will be a much improved team from last year.
"Tanking" is bad strategy...draft pick don't turn into wins magically. Build a solid roster for frig sake !

Plus the fact the Raptors got Siakam and VanVleet later shows how a higher pick isn’t automatically better
I don’t know if we want to tank again this next season because everyone hates it, but next years draft we will keep our first rounder and that class is a lot better. The top 5 or 6 guys could all become incredible so idk what we are going to do this season but if we do tank we will definitely get a great player in the draft next year. Also Masai might be the 🐐 with late first rounders so we’ll see what happens!
Not worried about losing this years pick.. I don't really find anyone that special. Players from 10-20 are not far apart in talent. Raps can easily find a decent role player with the 19th pick.

Hope all the 2023-24 pro tank crowd militia is happy. Spurs received a Top 10 Lottery pick for a role player and upcoming UFA in Poeltl. Raps, so far, received 2 magic bean non-lottery draft picks and bench fodder (Olynyk, Ogbaji, Brown, Nwora) for an all-star/all-NBA player an upcoming UFA in Siakam. Pascal has the Pacers in the 2nd round of the NBA playoffs tied 2-2 with the Knicks. And with their young roster they will only be getting better. Plus, they are missing Benedict Mathurin who is out injured. Brown, Boucher, Filler for Andrew Wiggins, Filler is the only way out of this mess. Poeltl, Barnes, Wiggins, RJ, IQ. GTJ is most likely going to a team like Orlando to be their starting SG. Looks more and more like Edey at #19 now, if he's available.
Imagine if we just added another 2nd so the pick could be top 10 protected instead :(

That 6th pick would have been a valuable asset for the future of the franchise. Team still has potential! But we took a loss here. All that tanking for a coinflip! Now we can play freely at least. And hopefully make good moves in the right direction! ; Tanking again next season to have our own pick in the draft lottery would make this team very depressing. I agree raptors going for poeltl was a mistake. However, the raptors are in a very good position. They have financial flexibility. They still have 2 picks in this draft and they can look to find talent deep in draft or sell both picks. Plus we have a solid trio in IQ, Barrett and Barnes. Plus Agbaji, Olynyk and Dick. Not sure what raptprs do with poeltl. However I do believe we are in a better position that people think or believe. Plus thr last 6 years the worst team didn't win the first pick.

People need to relax a bit. I don't think the Raptors are unhappy about "losing" the 6th pick this year. if anything, it's a "win" as next year they get to keep their pick in what is projected to be a much superior draft. We'll probably have a top 15 pick in next year's draft. A top 15 pick in next years draft would be the equivalent to a top 5 pick in this year's draft. We'll also have a much better team next year. Masai did the honourable thing regarding Siakam, he could have got a much better deal from the Hawks but he knew Siakam didn't want to go there. Masai recouped his cachet with the players around the league after the DeRozan mishandling fiasco. He did the honourable thing by Siakam and players remember that. Let's not forget that and lets park the general hysteria.

With that 19th pick Raps can draft a player like Salaun or Dunn both great lengthy wing that fits along with Scottie. As for our backup PG, id rather sign DJ Carton to a Nba contract

The east has got worse every season this draft isn’t changing anything. Boston took first by 15 games. The 2 playin teams were well below .500. East is a joke.
Entire reason the nba changed so many of the rules regarding cap and tax this year is to try and better distribute talent across the league because the west is so stacked. We’ll see how much of the desired effect it will have starting this season.

I can already predict the raptors move at the draft. The fan base is upset with them missing out on that pick and what would get fans somewhat over that ? Drafting the Canadian Edey which is another massive gamble but it will buy Masai some time, Get the country hyped up and many causals would forget that pick that went to the Spurs. I already see it coming because if Masai can swing and miss with Bruno then what makes you think he won’t take a swing at Edey who can bring some kind of hype to the fan base ? Now I’m no fan of drafting Edey but I can see the organization doing this to buy time, sell jerseys, create hype after this massive L and to help boost ticket sales. Edey’s hype in Toronto would be bigger than any raptors draft pick. He can help Masai and Bobby’s reputation with the fans massively. There’s people that want Wiggins just because he’s Canadian for god’s sakes. you better believe drafting Edey will have Masai and Bobby back in their good books.

I don’t feel confident we’ll be able to compete with a lot of teams over the next 1-2 seasons. We simply don’t have enough talent. Happy we have a young core but unlikely we’ll be able to get some complimentary pieces around these guys. Tough spot to be in currently and deflating to not have a high pick after an awful season. Not sure what to expect but still love this team and our raptors community

Honestly Ben it’s really not that bad. The draft class this year isnt that good and there’s even talks that the end of the lottery of next years draft is better than some of the top 5 players in this years draft. The raptors will have a better chance at striking gold in next years draft

@@giovanni-ed7zq Maybe I worded it weirdly, but when I mean acquiring depth is basically using those picks to draft depth, like a back-up PG or a back-up rim protector.
@@adrianau6679 you dont have to draft a pg in the 2nd round, the gleague is full of them. the take 3-4 years to become a javon freeman liberty who may end up being an end of the bench guard. david johnson draft tells you what 2nd round guards are like.

If there is a back-up PG who can actually run an offense, then the FO might consider drafting him. JFL hasn't shown that he can consistently run an offense. I'd rather have a 38-year-old Lowry over him.
