This was never really labelled as a "gospel album", he didn't say anything about it and what it was going to be like. The official album hasn't come out as yet, it might come out later today or this week. Maybe you guys should give it a re-listen when it comes out, cuz what he played at the listening party is definitely not what the final product is going to be like. KInda disappointed that he's swearing again, but hopefully when the album officially comes out, it's different.

Yes good point! I don’t think it was ever from his mouth calling it a gospel album. We just watched a few CZcams videos leading up to the premiere, who all said it was rumored to be a gospel album and it was previously premiered at a small church. So it’s easy to assume! But could certainly be different from Kanye’s take on it. In its current state, I would hope the official release isn’t planning on officially calling it “gospel” …however, I heard that his Jesus Is King album had cussing in it all the way up until the official release! So there is still hope!😊 he may change it! And like we said, we’ll be doing a new review when the final product is out, while reading through the lyrics. We want a more clear picture of what we just heard! Thanks for the comment! God bless!

@@AJGallagherVideos such a good question! It’s all about the posture of the heart. The Bible talks about not using filthy language, foolish talk, obscenity, etc. It doesn’t specifically say cursing, like you said. However, we’ve come to understand over the years that cursing is not usually used as a way to be pure, holy, or Christlike, but usually more to be vulgar, dirty, or in times of anger. But you’re right to realize that neither are so many words that aren’t cursing that mean the same thing! I know that we need to be more cautious of this as well. But God certainly changes your convictions as you grow with him, and words that were once fine in your spirit, may later feel wrong in your spirit. We know that Kanye feels convicted about cursing because he did interviews with people in the past year or 2 where he cussed and said things like, “Excuse me when I say that. I’m still new to this and those words still slip.” He also premiered the Donda album at a church in Vegas last week, where he turned the music down whenever there was foul language. That shows us that his spirit must feel conviction over those words. It’s ok to slip and we have a heart for people like that! But to make a conscious decision to use words that you are convicted of is different. “But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.” -Matthew 12:36-37. In recent years, our convictions on words and phrases have been growing and developing past just cursing and there are certain things we have stopped saying and I’m sure the list will keep growing as our hearts grow in alignment with God. It’s a matter of the heart and it’s probably different for everyone, depending on where their heart is! Hope this makes sense.

The reason Kanye started calling himself a god was because in the media, and throughout Hiphop a lot of male black artists are labeled thugs and drug dealers and it’s normalized and okay, but the second he says he’s a legend or a god it’s jarring and not “right,” though he feels that way it does bring up a conversation as to why that is. Then again you can’t deny the fact that fans worship artists like gods and idols so I guess he just doubled down on that concept 🤷🏾‍♂️. So that being said there is a connotation of false prophets, idk. It’s a convo starter for sure.
