    This is awesome! Do you not do the dust cover and dust caps for dropped spindles?

    • @WideFive
      @WideFive  Před 7 měsíci

      King pin needs to be machined to accept dust caps.

    Thanks for the video! It helps me a lot! I have a question. On early dropped spindles, do you put just the o-ring? Or not even the o-ring?
    Thanks!

    • @WideFive
      @WideFive  Před 9 měsíci

      Early 20mm link pins don't use the o-ring. The torsion arms mating surface is flat. There's no place for the o-ring to seat. Just shims with the Early 👍

    Nice one thanks a lot, setting up a set the same as these at the moment, what size o'ring do you use?
    Great explanation

    • @WideFive
      @WideFive  Před 3 lety +1

      I'm not sure on the O-ring size. Haven't had to buy them in years. You can look at the sizes available and measure what you've got. I know they're a common size.

    Great video, I was trying to find your handy little shim chart but couldn’t locate it on your web site. Could you please redirect me. Thanks

      @WideFive  Před 2 lety +1

      Mike! Thanks for the sub and for watching, my man! Much appreciated. Yeah, I've trimmed down the website offerings quite a bit, ha, ha. I threw the chart back up there and a link to my front end playlist. You can find that chart here: widefive.net/Spindle-Installation-Instructions-p131869409

  • @frankmick8683

    Do the shims effect the camber of the tire? I have one wheel that is not vertical, it tilts out at the top.

    • @WideFive
      @WideFive  Před 2 lety +1

      Technically all that is built into the design of the spindle. ONLY alignment spec you can change is the toe. If someone put the wrong shim stack in there it can be off. If the link pins aren't tight and adjusted properly you could see this. More common is a bent spindle shaft or torsion arms. Check your shim stack first 👍

    @crafteygamer4129 Před 3 lety +1

    What are the size of the shims for that chart? I found the chart but am going to have to order more or all of them.

    • @WideFive
      @WideFive  Před 3 lety +1

      Size depends on model year. You can just measure the ones you have. Thickness is 0.50mm

    So if you're putting the same amount of inner shims top and bottom how does that have any affect on the offset since your adding matched numbers?

    • @WideFive
      @WideFive  Před 2 lety

      Well, it doesn't, ha, ha. The factory offset is correct in that situation of 7mm offset. Any variance from that 7mm needs corrected 👍

    Hi there, this is gold, this offset setting apply for stock height?

    • @WideFive
      @WideFive  Před 4 lety +1

      Absolutely! Dropped, stock, Bus or Beetle. Offset is measured the same way. A little difference in shim count with Beetle depending on what year it is, but this basically applies to all King/Link VW's👍

    Do you sell 64 to 67 bus spindles? What does it take to switch 63 bus spindles to a 64.

    • @WideFive
      @WideFive  Před 2 lety

      I rarely have spindles to sell outright. '63 o my spindles would need to have the king pins changed to fit the later 22mm link pins on '64-'67 arms.
