Something I do for feeding when I’m away is I pre measure the food and put it into a pill container so my neighbor doesn’t have to measure it out and risk over feeding.
When I´m on vacation for more than a couple of days we always have someone feed our Animals including the Fish, I will prepare little cups of Food and put them next to the Aquarium with the right amount of food for each day. Then the caretaker only has to take 1 cup for each Aquarium and drop the prepared food in. This worked for me so far...
I do the same. Pre-measure for each day so they don't kill my fish.
Like it I am just starting out just finished my hardscape plants arrive next Friday , all your vlogs really help me learn
Let the holiday begin with the difference of green aqua😎🎉
Thanks for informations👏

Pure gold
This came at the perfect time. I was wondering what was wrong with my plants. Turns out it's the temperature. Thanks!
Glad I could help!
haha so true that i'm always battling with my partner about closing the blinds! Also because i want to see the tank without reflections.
Nice video Tommy, lot's of good tips, looking good for the summer too 😉
Yeah, glad you found this useful Terry, thanks for the comment, as usual. Cheers.
I waited all day what an intro 🔥🔥🔥🔥⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Cheers!
Thank you Tommy, nice pro tips 🙏🏻
Thanks for watching us. :)
Great video 🌞😀 I put a Söchting oxidator in my tank for extra oxygen.
It works perfect also with the BIO Co2
Great tip!
Been waiting for this 😃😃
Cheers, hope it was worth the wait!
Thank you tommy this was really helpful
Glad it helped! Cheers!
Viki and the UV filter... That cracked me up 😂😂😂
Very helpful cause I’m gonna be gone for a week and a half next month
I do like Tommy's vids the most
TOMMY YOU ARE LOOKING COOL IN THOSE SHADES. BEST THUMBNAIL I EVER CAME ACROSS IN YOUR CHANNEL. LOL 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂. BTW VERY INFORMATIVE OF YOU TO SOLVE THE SUMMER POBLEMS.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Love the last method particularly 2 birds one stone.. 😂
thanks for the info. lot of things started to make sence to me now after watching this video lol
LOL, you are welcome.
Definetely, Green Aqua Team have made me felt desperately in love with aquascaping. A like-addiction thing, but a positive one, which has no rehab for it. 😁 Thanks, guys!👍🏽 Cheers from Angra City, a little paradise with 365 islands, Brazil🇧🇷
Wow, would love to be there, you are so lucky!
@@GreenAquaShop I live where most of people spend their vacations.😁
I reach 6 weeks but need a little skimmer also. Automatic feed and fertilizer. Results. Little bit of algue on the glass and the tank is full of plants. The shrimp are booming. A half day cleaning and the tank is ok again.
Great holidays ,stay safe though
One of the better vdos
Thanks. :)
good evening, I didn't hook a period of high heat 🥵 I put my filter oas in a bucket with water and ice breads to get down the temperature I held my water at 22 for a week I filled my freezer with 20 bottle of water, which is what a trick I saw on a French chain - 👍❤️👋 🇫🇷
Great tips Tommy, I didn't realise some of these topics, better crack on and by a fan, 😂.. 👌👍
Glad you enjoyed it! Cheers
Ha ha love it. Summer time ☀️☀️☀️
You mentioned from point of view of colder countries.
But,in hot Asian countries like India, where it's summer most of the year, using an aquarium chiller is really an option for planted tanks.
If the room is big, keeping an ac on 24*7 can be preety expensive.
THANK YOU! :)) and good wine :)
Today the upload is in a different time.. Waited all day!! Thank God finally got to see.. Waits eagerly for thursday. Lots of love from India 🇮🇳
It was a last minute production, to be very up to date with things. Thanks for waiting, thanks for the support! :)
They tried to fools us !
I keep my house at 20c.. I like it cooler. I am leaving for vacation in a couple of weeks and I bought 7 day pill containers. Each one is filled with the proper amount of food and is sitting at the tank. No way for my friend to overfeed or harm my fishies. The frozen foods only go in two tanks and that he found fun to watch. He doesn't have fish but he does understand that it is important not to overfeed any of the tanks.
por cierto cuanto es lo mas bajo en grados que manejan sus acuarios?, debido a sus consejos estoy replantearme si poner o no mis calefactores, pues en Chile comenzó el invierno...
nice No Good Racing shirt
i run my tank at 29degC but the plant selection is limited, the fan removes too much water when turned on and you'll have to top up everyday haha
Wish you a wonderful summer time guys, enjoy and wish ya all the best. Cheers 🍺🍻
Same to you! Cheers my friend!
i live in a tropical country, i put my aquariums in the middle room without ac, just running some diy computer fan on 3 of them, getting under 26 degrees celsius is somewhat nearly impossible. My tank runs in the 27-29 degrees depending on the weather, i mean putting ac just for the aquarium is just monumentally wasteful on energy and on the wallet. so regularly topping off water is far cry much more convenient than having a stroke from paying the energy bills haha
It's been 12:24 am in India and still watching your video with a cup of coffee 😘
Hope you enjoyed it! Thanks for staying up, sorry for the late post!
Hi guys, could you do a video explaining when to use water products?
I ask for this because, as an example, seachem has a milion water products... and other brands similar ones, if we go by the stated on each product we end up with a tank that has 5% water 95% products... very confusing... and today we had 36º outside... fish have it good they are swimming already! Thanks!!!
What if I put in a cold water bottle right in front of the out flow of the filter???
I usually go away for 3 weeks in the summer. It goes with a lot of stress thinking about my aquarium.
Tommy lets go hit up the beach! Lets do some scaping in the wild! LOL
LOL! :)
My tank is around 31C in summer. With 3 fans fitted to it, it cools down to 28C but I need to add water every day.
Yep,this is the wrong part of the fans, but it's cheaper than a chiller. ;)
I feel like running an air con for your tank is like going to the Amazon and burning down trees 😬
Watching that vid when it's usually 28 degrees on average in my country ALL YEAR LONG lol
nice video
Thanks! Cheers!
Do you guys do waterchanges with water that is heated to the same tank temperature as your tanks?
Not in summer, but yep in the others seasons. ;)
Top o VÍDEO boa tarde BRAZIL assistindo
Cheers, thanks!
Do you have any issues with water chemistry when you turn everything off and put a cardboard box over your tank while on vacation?. (changes in pH due to decrease in dissolved CO2 leading to decrease production of carbonic acid)?
So we can use uv in planted tank..? 24hrs..?
Worried about the cost of running the ac all day for my bettas. It gets very hot in the rooms upstairs though so I may have no choice during heat waves
I have know só much algeas in the glass. How can i clean it. Withe the instrucional of this video
You have two algae guide vids, check them out!
en mi pais nunca he podido mantener un acuario a menos de 25 grados u.u
Green Tommy Aqua
Sir my tank suffering with algae. My tank size is 24x15x12 I will doseing 2hr fertilizer 1.5 ml and doseing pressurised co2 3.1bubbles per second. Light RGB time 6 hour with timer and eheim canestar running with purigen and seachem matrix all the day but problem is algae place suggests me what to do?
25C is warm, like here the Tropics we are happy to have a temp of 28C on our tanks lels
Cant agree more 😂
Nah mine was 32c
tommy: anything more than 25 celsius is harmful
we in india:managing tanks at 30 celsius
the intro!!! loved that!
ps: was that victoria with you in the picture?
Yeah, Tommy and Vicky are old friends, they party together all the time with their families. I feel you with the summer heat, difficult to manage a tank under those conditions.
What is the recommended lighting hours with co2 tank ? I’m running with chihiros wrgb2 with sun rise setting . What is the showroom setting in green aqua. thanks
I believe they have their lights on for 8 hours starting at 10am with a 30 min ramp on/off time. Intensity depends on the tank, but something between 60 to 85% is good depending on your specific tank and how high you have the light hanging.
@@tylerhopper8790 Thank you very much for the great info . I facing some green algae issue on the glass and sand. Currently I'm running 100% for 11hrs .
Here in India summer temperature can go upto 36 degrees.. What is the best solution if you don’t have A/C at home
Living in Arizona means 117F (47C) outside. It is not possible to cool it down that much without going bankrupt. My fish tanks have to survive at 82F (27C). Not a perfect scenario, but cannot move out to find the perfect aquascape (...yet)
Hi, and what about a fishfood that is called a one-week-food? I've seen it at a store. What dou you think about it?
We're not big fans of those...
That kind of food may cause a lot of water pollution. Fishes eat it all day long ad produce a lot of waste.
If one comes around to feed your fish while you are in holidays, just prepare little portions of fish food for that person just to dump into your tank ( I use little shot glasses for that).
Prevents them overfeeding your fish 👍
What if it is in winter?
hey Tommy I have a question, I'm leaving my home for 2 weeks and I am confused about how much plant fertilizer I need for the 2 weeks. Because you said that people should not dose over 3 days' worth of fertilizer even for a week, Also the trip is 2 weeks from now and I'm going to be using 1-2 grow aquarium plants so any tips on what this trip is going to do my plants would be great aswell.
If I understand well you plan to start a tank or add new plants 2 weeks before leaving on vacation: don"t do that, you're gonna have problems (new starts are when most frequent care is needed). Aside from that, Tommy's tip means you can add 3 days' worth of fertiliser, but no more. Its means your plants will starve for the rest of the 2 weeks, but that's better than putting too much fertilizer. Aside from a very good friend ok to come each day, the best option is a dosing pump (you can find simple ones around 50€) and that's what I'll be doing this year.
In Angra City, Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil🇧🇷, 22° is cold, 35° is "ok" and only equal or higher than 40° is considered really hot. Hahaha. Take in account that is a tropical place.
LOL, that is a lot!
@@GreenAquaShop Yes, indeed. Even for us, local people. We tolerate quit well around 35, 36° Celsius.
Hi ,from India, 40 deg is normal here, above 45 in summer, in 2 months winter it remain 24-27, now aquarium temp is 34 ,I am battling algae, water change every 4 days, dosing alternate day 😭
Guys, I consider you the best professionals for aqua and my best teachers. Thx for a such good tips and all info you put on YT. And as well thumb up for your Green Aqua shop in Budapest I visited personally last year.
Water temp is summer is a nightmare in most of the worlds homes if you dont have always on AC basically. its constantly 30+ Celcius in my aparatment in Eastern Europe for example.
Tips for scaping a tall aquarium?
build your hardscape vertically, that's it.
I have huge temperature problems and have lost some fish the last weeks because my tank's reached 34°C on some days. Chillers are way too expensive for me to buy them and fans only reduced 1 degree... found a "mini chiller" from China and will see if it works, since my tank is onle 45L total
I have a Boyu 5 fans in my 125 liters, and i keep the aquarium 26ºC. But it is necessary to refill water, and you need a reservoir(18 liters last me 2 weeks).
In my 28 liters, i have a Boyu 3 fans, and 10 liters reservoir. It is in a warmer room.
@@josecarlosarroyo3480 I used to have a Boyu 4 fans in my 45 liters and it wouldn't lower the temperature below 31ºC. I had to refill 1 liter a day, but temperature was still very high. I'm using a little chinese peltier chiller and now I can keep it around 28.5. I know it's still hot and my energy bill will double, but it's the best I can do for now. I've already seen improvement in my plants though and less algae
Hi, I would like to ask about the UV light through the filter.
Do you switch it on 24/7 or just some hours? Will it also kill the beneficial bacteria?
Also can hurt bacts and ferts, don't use 7/24.
@@GreenAquaShop How many hours do you recommend for a day?
For a 35 Litre tank and a 90 Litre tank.
Just a few hours at night.
🤙🏻🔥
Thanks for the view. Enjoy!
Let's call Viki the chiller, because she looks cool! 😎
I know, right? :)
Do the plants in aquascaped tanks always have to be fertilized daily?
No, there are solutions you can do weekly or other systems... But a doser would also help. Regular dosing helps though. It is what works best, but it is not a must.
Finally.
Cheers, sorry for the late upload. :) Enjoy.
Amigo.... Menos sol hein....kkk
Você está vermelho...
Altas temperaturas na Europa ?
Vocês não tem esse problema...kk
Boas férias !
It's almost 40 degrees here. :)
some people bro cannot keep tank cool all the time and they even do not have winters such as malaysia or indonesia
I'm curious regarding the "Blackout" method that you do when you're away for a week, can someone confirm if this method works work you too? 7 days without light seems quite long for plants to survive especially for high light demanding plants 😅
I think everything will get less colorful as well as the fish, and recover in short time. Just I think, didn't tried.
@@KenLe1998 yes, once ferts, lights and CO2 are back on, the plants should bounce back I guess
hey im living in England and im going back home to Hungary on a long vacation and the only thing thats bothering me is the water level on my tank withouth a lid , i usualy pour some water every two days to keep the water level where i want , and im worried that when i come back il have 50 liter tank with 20 liter water lol ... i have a planted tank with a beta ,i keep the temperature at 26 . Any tips that can help me ?

I tried it, it works perfectly well
What if we lose the electricity during that time?
Bad luck. :( There's nothing you can do, really.
Nice intro tho
Hey! That's a No Good Racing T-Shirt from Japan, is Tommy (is that his name?) into cars also?
nice catch, yes I’m Tommy and oh boy do I love cars 👌👌
👍👍👍👍👍👍
Cheers!
not that I think cooling your tank with frozen bottles or so are a good idea, does that really stress your fish? I mean rivers have also very different temperature zones that are clearly separeted.
Hi.im from vietnam ❤🐟
Welcome to the Channel! Enjoy!
If the tank is left at rest, as told in the last part of the video, for around 7 days, the fishes won't starve?
You'll still need to feed the fish!
depends on their size. tiny species need feeding every other day at the most, but many larger fish can go for a week or even two without experiencing serious harm
I invite you to Madrid, but not in holidays. I invite you to maintain an aquarium with 40º to 45ºC outside home, very exciting 😂😂.
High temperatures, and a lot of evaporation.
LOL, wow, that is unreal.
@@GreenAquaShop Really, we only have more than 40ºC for a week, but the rest of the summer we are 33-35ºC...or more.
You can keep the aquarium at 26ºC with fans, but you have to refill a lot of water and need a reservoir.
Yeah, it is about the same in Hungary, for a couple of weeks.

I actually did the trick with the ice last sommer. 1liter bottle per 20+liter tank. So much bigger proportion than shown here.. Worked perfect, every fish survived without any issue. Helps to cool down in 1-2 degrees. Better than 27, as in the room....
Do cherry shrimp live in mineral water
If you mean tap water,I say yes,but nope is it's real mineral water.
Ok thanks
You're very welcome.
I'm really disappointed that no automatic feeder allows adjusting the amount low enough for small/underpopulated tanks. This has been a problem for me since forever, and I struggle to understand why nobody is building an adequate feeder. Aren't nano tanks a thing?
if there is ,it will be costly
👍🙏👍
