The worst part is that they gave the ideal piece for his lightsaber hilt to Saw Gerera, so why didn't they use it for Maul's lightsaber?!

Agreed. Lego designer don’t give an F. They just stuck a Darth Maul figure in the set, giving no regards to which iteration of Maul should have been included. Especially considering that it is the Phantom Menace is anniversary this year. I’m surprised someone at Disney/Star Wars approved this set design.
Awesome cape for Saw, and a poncho (Cameron Monaghan rejoices) for Qui Gon, but no cloak for Darth Maul.

@@VAULT-TEC_INC. i feel like this is a bit much for just 2 missing pieces, like i get that in the scene maul has a cloak but to say that the lego designers "dont give an F" is kinda overreacting in my opinion, if they didnt give an F the sith infiltrator would look as ugly as the 1999 set
I feel like at $70 it should have had a Padme and an episode 1 Obi-Wan. They also should have green Maul a hood and cloak to make him accurate to that scene in the film.

WHY can Lego still not seem to give Darth Maul the extended lightsaber hilt when that piece has been around for a few years now? It's even included in this set!

Can’t help but feel the minifig line up (minus saw) is lackluster, like we don’t have another chance at Watto, Panaka or Shimi for a while.
Padme or Obi are pretty much the only minifigs you could justify missing, since they were the only other characters involved in the scene to extent
I agree, I think young Obi-Wan and Padme being absent from the set makes its 70 dollar price tag look even worse
@@evill01i mean watto has been in one before, and if we’re not gonna get sets from his junkyard or anything from tattooine, then shmi and watto should be considerations. it’s kinda throwing us a bone for characters they wouldn’t have a set that would actually have a place in. only thing that would make sense is if they made the nubian and then they could consider watto, handmaidens, shmi, panaka, etc

Personally I think this set should cost 50$, maybe 60$ at max but definitely with 3 more figures like Obi-Wan, Padme and Captain Panaka.

You are disconnected from the community like other youtubers living in their own bubble demanding jedi bob sets only they want and jar jar brickheads they only want. This figure doesnt belong here. People actually wanted and still want that padme, build was magnificent, price was great and other figures were amazing. This set doesnt have those other reedeming qualities from the build to the number of figures to the price this is an awful set.

For $70 i expected at least a couple more minifigs. I think the size of the ship also matters. 50-60 would have been more appropriate IMO

Darth Maul's eyes were changed to be consistent with the modern LEGO coloured eyes they've been using for a decade now. They've used them across many themes and characters (Marvel, SW, Dune, etc), so it only made sense to update the Sith to be a consistent style

I never understood why we never got Naboo Royal Queen starship but instead always Maul's sith Infiltrator. Also Maul's starship is not in that scene, Naboo's Royal Starship is

It’s all chrome and the shape is round not blocky, which is much harder to capture in Legos
The size of the infiltrator is a piss take, sick of these tiny ships costing more than the bigger ships of the past, and not to mention the lack of figures, even if they just threw a watto in with the set it would make me a lot happier but for the price compared to the tantive I would’ve really wanted Padme, obi wan and captain panaka as well, but Lego clearly just half arsed it because they finally made saw gerrara, great figure granted but still not good enough, the extra fig is supposed to be a bonus! Not an excuse to cut corners on a set this drastically
Love the set and minifigs, but $70 is just a wild price tag for this. This looks like a perfect $50 set just with the eye test
I really like this set! $70 is a bit too much, it should have been $50-55. However it has a great minifigures (that Saw Gerrera is excellent) and the ship itself has a fun play features and nice design.

@@dynestis2875 fr, and brix studios really tried saying the 2011 set is less value. However the only reason it has less pieces is because it's hollow on the inside, but the new one is mostly filled. This set is a big disappointment for me, the entirety of the 25 anniversary for phantom menace is a disappointment and I don't have hope for the anniversary for the revenge of sith as they might miss the mark like with phantom menace and attack of the clones
Not really fussed about the eyes, but Maul should have really came with a cape and a hood.
Still awaiting the day for the Naboo royal starship. I doesn’t even have to be chrome, it can be the metallic silver. Either way, we gotta get it one day

The color of Saw Gererra is way better in real life then what it looked liked in the pictures. I was worried it would be too bright but the green actually looks super nice.
This set is awesome! I had the original from 1999, but this is a big step up. Always good to get a Darth Maul minifigure! They even have the double red lighsaber even if the scene in the movie didn't have that.
How are you going to say the new set is better value? Look how good and HUGE the old infiltrator set is, so good

When you open the new one you get more pieces than if you were to open the old one that's what value means.
A set like this would be £40 10 years ago (it's £60 here). The price hikes with Lego Star Wars have been insane.
I feel like it's high time we start weighing sets and talking about grams per €, or like... stone/£ or pennyweights/$, because Lego's definitely onto the piece count and is giving us a lot more 1x1s

Why is it that most of these sets this year feel 10-20% overpriced? Like, a 70$, worst version of the Infiltrator, with only 3 minifigs? It doesn't feel worth that. Saw is also way too green.
Ngl I prefer the lack of black pupils with Maul. I always thought it made him and Palpatine look uncanny compared to normal figures. With these eyes it looks more “lego-like” to me
a lot of the people in this community for some are obsessed with minifigures looking as accurate or realistic as possible instead of actually matching the lego aesthetic, to the point that they turn to customs and fakes that are way too overloaded with detail for a 2 inch figure... i'll never understand it

I had the original 1999 Sith Infiltrator, my first Bigger Lego Star Wars sets, can't wait to Expand this a little & include the Printed pieces on this from the "99 set. GREAT VIDEO!!!

Initially wasn't too happy with the look of the ship on the leaked photos but after your review I changed my mind, definitely looks super detailed and the techniques look fun too, can't wait to build it. Biggest downside for me is lack of 4th figure (excluding Saw), Padme or perhaps some one-off character from Ep.1 would fit perfectly here

I think it's the best Sith Infiltrator, with the 2007 one in close second. Love the scale, and detail. Looks really sleek and accurate.
I will say i like how more detailed and refined this one looks. I had the iteration before the last one, and i never liked how studded it looked
For 70$ where are Padme, Captain Panaka and Obi-Wan THOSE are an absolute Must for this Set If they‘re gonna Charge 70$ for this! It would still be overpriced but a Little bearable 😳

I like this set! I missed out on all the other sith infiltrators and I was bussing about another one coming out! However I agree it is 10 or 5 over price, a padme minifigure would have made up for that price 😁
We need more prequel sets to incorporate battle of feonosis and phantom menace. I missed out a lot on that and picked up Lego during the clone wars. I want more of that classic vibe again

I own the 2011 version of this ship and I’ll say without having this new one in my hands, I think it would have been better to have something between this scale and the 2011 set. Although I do definitely have my issues with that older larger design. It’s a very clean and well detailed looking set.
Box is like a third of the side of the 2015 infiltrator. I wish the set was bigger but I do like how the infiltrator looks more displayable and somewhat comparable to the new display sets.

@@nihili4196 nah it’s not close. I don’t think you realise how big ships are in the Star Wars universe, think of them like fancy yachts ig maybe haha. They need to have space for people to actually get in and move around all the rooms comfortably. It shouldn’t be crammed and a tight fit just for one minfigure like it’s an escape pod. The Scrimtar is supposed to be 27 meters long so should be lengthwise 15 Darth Mauls across (weird measurement ik lmao). This one is about 7 Darth Mauls long so it’s around half the length it should be so the bigger previous ones were much closer in scale. Generally the closest you get to accurate scale are typically UCS sets if they’re not oversizing everything. But a good example to how much bigger things should generally be is the T6 shuttle. Look at the set and then look at custom ones people are making to more accurately represent the size. It’s massive
$70 is def too high, however I plan on buying it as part of my GWP on May 4th, so it is what it is.

As a die hard Maul fan I feel compelled to buy this, but I won't say its without some disappointment. The scale of the infiltrator is weirdly small to me for the price point, however I love the look of it. Maul needs his hood here....

I am surprised that saw is in dark green and not in light green as it was on the photos, but I am glad I was wrong about it being light green.
I actually like the set overall, I wish Maul came with the new hood piece and a cape as that is how he was depicted in this skirmish with Quigon. This is a good option though for me as I wasn’t able to buy the 2007 set when it was at retail and this was always one of my favorite ship designs from the prequel trilogy.
David, I’d love to see a video where you talk about what you think makes a Good or Great LEGO set versus a disappointing set. What gets you the best value? As someone who can only get a few LEGO sets at a time, I find myself always going for the $200-$400 LEGO sets to get my moneys worth. Maybe you could include some examples from previous or recent LEGO sets. If that is something you think you could talk about, I would love to hear your thoughts

I have the 2015/16 set and its definitely more accurate while still being decent value because most of the pieces are big, but I really like this one for the more fine detail and play value this has. While you can fit 3+ minifigs in the 2016, you have to store the bike in the front, whereas this one he can sit on it in the cockpit. And there's no other characters that go in the cockpit anyway. Plus, this one is smaller and more easily swooshed. For $70, it's not a great value, but it is $20 less that the previous version while retaining all of the play features.
I’m gonna pick this up along side the Death Star playeset to make a Fallen Order diorama with Saw Guerra, Cal Kestis, a couple rebels fight off troopers
It barely matters how many pieces are in the set when most of the pieces are small. I would always prefer less quantity but bigger size pieces to what we mostly have nowadays.
