"That's like saying it's gay to wash your teeth." There are literally men who think it's gay to wash your buttcrack.
I hope they are not common. Cuz that is just absolutely disgusting
Omg, I saw this post made by a woman who said she kept finding poop crust and particles all over her + her new husband‘s shared apartment - long story short, he never wiped or washed his ass crack because it‘s „gay“ to touch yourself there. How she never noticed is absolutely beyond me. Maybe they‘re the type of couple who didn‘t kiss until marriage. Literally the only way I could see something like this slip past someone. As a straight man I can confirm, my girlfriend loves the fact that I have started taking care of my skin. It doesn't make sense to take care of yourself (working out, manscaping, dieting, teeth whitening, etc) but draw the line at skin care because it somehow threatens your masculinity
my bf does it too and i love that! we even share some serums and treatments (identical bottles, not the same pieces) if we have same issues, and recently I got him into sunscreen too which was the only aspect he didn't do but more because of lack of knowledge than bcz of "masculinity issues". also, when he lives with me, we do each others "spa" like mask and head massage and eye care, etc. - so relaxing!
My boyfriend loves it when I applied my skincare onto his face. He constantly asks me if his skin looks good right after XD
How cute!
That's adorable
I would love to do this to my bf, but he has the type of skin that's already great without effort, I'm scared putting products on it will upset the balance...I just wanna put products on someone else's face dammit lol
Omg my husband too! I find it cute that they think it works instantly
Aw my husband does the same! I often catch him using my conditioner as well. It's really cute.

The reason why some men associate skincare with “gayness” is because in a mindset with toxic masculinity, nurturing and taking care of anything (even yourself) is seen as feminine. It’s really sad that so many men feel this way, but I am noticing positive shifts towards more men embracing the nurturing parts of themselves.
Theres no such thing as toxic masculinity as being masculin is needed to counteract the feminist movement and keep the family unit together, but what is real and just as problematic is us dudes being refined in grooming is feminine or gay
@@standardofexcellence I’m interested, can you explain you first sentence? “Toxic masculinity does not exist because masculinity is needed”. The absence of toxic masculinity is not the lack of masculinity but rather the presence of healthy masculinity. Isn’t that what we need?
@@standardofexcellence Ooof.
The level of ignorance in that post is just 🤦♀️
@@standardofexcellence you were raised wrong. I wouldn't want to meet your "masculinity."
I feel like it's because of that that they're not taught to take care of themselves too. Break the cycle men!
Hi, a dermatologist here. While not really designed for this purpose Intimate washes are actually alright to use on your face for a couple of reasons: they're slightly acidic (usually they add lactic acid), usually are formulated with mild surfactants and fragrance free. Glands on your vulva produce sebaceous discharge commonly known as smegma so an intimate wash is designed with sebum in mind. And if something is mild enough for your vagina it's definitely is mild enough for your face. Not a hack per se but definitely an option when you're all out of face wash.
I am a straight guy and I am obsessed with skincare and everytime that I express my interest in skincare to women they respect me and are surprised at how knowledgeable I am about skincare and guys have never told me that I am gay for liking skincare.
thank goodness you know men who don't shame you for that

Straight men logic: It is acceptable to use skincare products only if the packaging is black or grey and it has a huge “FOR MEN” sign on the front. I see you Nivea.

Some girl on yt: I use coconut oil
Me, on my 2nd tub of Ben and jerry's at 1 am: oh honey that's a mistake
Why is coconut oil bad I use it all the time 😳😳
Literally use it to remove my makeup. Can't find anything better that doesn't make my skin irritated and takes off ALL my makeup.
Yaz Hamilton I think some people leave it on their skin, which is bad since clogging, etc, it needs to be rinsed off (at least from my experience)
Skin: remove makeup
Hair: leave it on for an hour
Mouthwash (yes!)
Yaz Hamilton
If you want to try something else try “Banila Co Cleansing Balm” (I like the Purifying or Original one) or “Farmacy Green Clean”, I find they take off makeup similar to coconut oil but with ingredients that can be better for your skin.

There's also the argument that cotton is absorbent, so it may be drying, and cotton could be more abrasive than silk or satin. I would be interested to see if that's true on a microscopic level.
I have a satin pillow 4 my hair, I think the way they make silk is gross and satin also is much cheaper. Still, like James, I don't really want it on my bed 😂
"Feminine" washes are basically just gentler body washes with a lower pH. So they're really no worse than washing your face with a gentle body wash, and probably better than most facial cleansers people use.
And thank you for talking about straight men taking care of themselves. Self-care is genderless, skin problems are genderless, and yes, most women appreciate men who are well-groomed, so it's a win-win.
Yea true. But what suck is the lots of feminine washes have lots of fragrances uggghhh
@@cristals8340 Because our vaginas are dirty and need to smell like flowers 24/7 (j/k). That's true and I wouldn't personally use anything with fragrance, however most people already use facial cleansers with fragrance, so by comparison feminine washes might possibly be better.
My skin is sensitive, so much that cerave products sadly sting, as well as every hydrating line including neutrogena or la Roche posay. well I found that the feminine wash I use is the only thing that do not dry out my skin. It has ph of around 4.5, is hypoallergenic and made for sensitive skin. No SLS-s inside! No dryness no irritation after use. This and being fast with applying moisturiser eliminated dry nasty patches around my lips. I know it just agrees with my skin. I use occasionally when my scalp gets dry and it also works. But I know it's important to read INCI and this is how I found that, by recommendation, examining the ingredient list and trying out. There are many products which should not be used at all!
All love,
@@daraiable Wow, I understand the struggles of sensitive skin, I'm glad you found something that works for you! The CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser also stung my skin very badly, and several other CeraVe products make me itchy.

The only note I would have is about the water thing...Our skin in the largest organ of our body and it needs hydration to function properly. Most of us don't drink nearly enough water (guilty!) and are walking around extremely dehydrated on a cellular level. To compensate for that, our skin can start to overproduce oil in an attempt to hydrate itself and create elasticity, especially in those who tend to be more oily in general. So drinking more water actually can help clear up the skin.

@@carnuatus I think they’re referring to the salt water, because they said “swimming”, not tanning. I can’t be bothered to search up if it is evidence-based, but at least anecdotally a lot of people find salt water helps their acne, and there’s no harm to it, other than perhaps drying out your skin if you aren’t moisturising, but not moisturising can cause dryness in itself, not just in relation to salt water.

When I'm doing mine I'm legit like "Hey babe! Give me your face!" 🌊👑😂
Same. My boy helped me improve my skin care routine too (◠‿◠✿)
Misa Vargas he literally had to have been sent from heaven because I don’t even know 😂
"Does acne make you feel masculine??" I laughed so hard lmaooo!! 😵😆
I love how this turned into a rant about inclusivity. Also.. yes.. us women love clean men lol.
Lol my cousin said he wanted more acne bc it made him feel "manly" 🙄🙄
@@jamie5661 Big oof lol. 😣🤭
@@jamie5661 if he's older then 10 then he weirdddddd lmao
I honestly actually love these two from the bottom of my heart :,) so wholesome... pure... good...
10:35 just shows the reason why brands make product specifically for “men”, it probably won’t hurt their pride in masculinity.
I say this all the time:
It's hella attractive when men take care of themselves. Skincare especially 👌🏻
Thank you James for showing me how to improve my skin, I’m a straight male and while I’ve always taken care of my skin, it’s taken me accepting that I love it and it’s not feminine to do so.
It took me moving to Copenhagen for a few years to accept my love of fashion, and unfortunately it took me getting a bad skin reaction to seek help, and finding your channel pushed me to fall in love with skincare.
Mingo La Flare hey! Ahhh I love that! So good to hear ☺️🙏🏼🙏🏼
Being well groomed is hella sexy on any man
I'm going to Copenhagen soon, is there any shops I should check out while I'm there?
Congrats! Skin care is not gender-specific. Even if you were doing ‘feminine’ things, it doesn’t have to be degrading if you can respect femininity! :) I’m a girl and I don’t feel degraded when I do ‘masculine’ things haha
Love you man 😍😍 your videos are amazing and every single content is amazing
I love your channels and also your brother’s because you’re kind, informative, AND entertaining. Such a breath of fresh air on CZcams.
If I open a guy's medicine cabinet and I see skincare in there, I'm instantly more attracted to him🤷🏼♀️
EXACLTY, major turn on
Right??? He'll probably looks really good too in the long run
My step-dad always said if a man takes good care of his skin and nails then he will take good care of his relationship
I am here with whole bag of skincare
Oh my lord.. after binge watching BOTH of you for the past two weeks. I can not believe you guys are collabing. Someone hold my Niacinamide please, I’m gracefully going to pass out for a minute!
Edit: everyone seems to be loving this post except THE James and Hyram themselves :’(
Same!!!!
Hold my niacinamide took me out
Same here! ♥️
*takes niacinamide forever
Girl yasss im right with u lol
I get so much enjoyment out of you and Hyram!! Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us!!
I’ve helped my husband with his skin care over the years. I have a very oily T zone and he has typically dry skin, so we have to adjust our masks etc. he enjoys the time we spend doing facial treatments and he loves the results when we get a good combo of products together.
Pharmacist here: The oral contraceptives don’t increase your sensitivity to the sun, however other medications we use orally (doxycycline, minocycline, etc) and topically (benzoyl peroxide, etc) to treat acne definitely can. It’s something we always remind our patients about and we encourage the use of daily sunscreen to help protect their skin.
Actually some do. Seasonale will increase your sensitivity to the sun the pill comes with a warning label to limit exposure to the sun. I don;t know the ingredient that makes skin sensitive. I never thought birth controls will make your skin sensitive but I guess some do. I was surprised to see the sticker on it and my pharmacist never even mentioned it I had to look it up.
Frosy my gynecologist lectured me on the importance of sunscreen when I mentioned I didn’t wear it every day 😂😂😂 even tho my birth control doesn’t make my skin more sensitive to the sun she reminded me how important it is to limit sun exposure and wear sunscreen no matter what
I'm allergic to sunscreen. So I never use any 😬 wanna offer up advice? And yes, I'm also allergic to the sunscreen made for allergic people (I've only ever seen/tried one brand tho)
Do pharmacists have patience? I never thought of that
A side effect of my birth control is frikkin ACNE!! My face is suffering! I get unbelievably painful periods and was prescribed birth control to help. It works perfectly for that... but the weight gain and breakouts are killing my happiness!!.☹
Boomers: sun good
Millennials: well actually
well yes, but actually no
lol yeah my mom is like go get some sunlight and I'm like let me reapply my sunscreen first 💁🏻♀️
“We are not experts in this area” 👀
watching you both giggle with your hands at your mouths makes my day. And I'm totally crushing on Hyram's pointy canines.
Yeah, hormones can totally f with your skin so adding hormones (aka birth control) can help clear up some acne. That being said certain kinds of birth control can also cause acne (and also weight gain) so be careful and be 100% honest with your doctor and don’t skip the blood test to check your hormone levels.
Oh and also...why are you gay if you use skin care again?! Dumbest connection that people make. I mean, you have skin..don’t you want to clean it? I used to have to tell an ex, “you are not gay if you use my face wash, I promise...just try it!” 🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ (again..ex).
I can't take the combined pill because I have chronic, severe migraines. It would put me at around 85% chance of stroke.
I have had acne since I was about 12 and I'm 42 this year. The struggle is real!...
It can also cause blood clots in some women so it shouldn't just be taken unless absolutely necessary like any drug.
Absolutely! Im on one of the kinds with only one hormone, and it has given me a lot of hormonal acne. Its quite common, yet no one says anything!
@@gillianwills9049 I suffered with horrific migraines for years. A couple of peoples recommended psilocybin mushrooms and I haven't had a migraine since. Just sharing as someone who knows your pain.❤️
I was so pleasantly surprised when I first went to my bf house and I saw he had his skincare products Laying around on hi nightstand (so he doesn't get bored to use them iafter a very busy and tiring day) and that he was putting on his creams every single day both on his face and on his body. What made me extra happy was that he told me that he wanted to be soft to touch for me like I am soft to touch for him. :)
Awww that's cute🥺❤
What the heck that's so cute, like???? PUT A RING ON IT""
You have to keep this one.
Guardian boi aww thats so cute
Awww that's adorable!
Been watching Hyram for awhile now and just recently discovered James. So when I saw this video, I clicked faster than ever!! I love these 2😭😭❤️
I really enjoyed this. Yal are so refreshing to watch!
Women’s skincare :
Toner
Essence
Serum
Eye cream
Moisturiser
Sunscreen/face oil
Average man:
3 in 1 wash and go
Me: exfoliation and moisturiser
And their skin is always clearer than mine
Made by Sauve, or Gillette if they are feeling fancy.
lmao many would buy a shampoo even if it said it cleans your face, ass, your aunt's cat, the car and the toilet.
Don’t assume too much, as a man my self, my skin care consists of: face wash, gentle scrub, toner, essence , moisturizer , sun screen and in the evenings , a sleep mask
I always took "drink more water" as an alternative way of saying "stop drinking so much soda/sugary drinks." I don't see my skin miraculously healing now that I'm drinking more water, but I DEFINITELY notice that when I drink soda I break out pretty bad.
Ashley Campos Soda is the biggest culprit for my acne prone skin :0
i recommend sleep more than water, but everybody has their own stuff
love both of your personality, love youuuuu
BOTH OF U GUYS ARE SKIN GOALS
On the note of skin care being "gay" I feel like because so many skincare brands seem to cater to women in the packaging, scents, advertisements it makes men with sensitive egos feel like it's not for them... so weird
Yes yes yes. I’m an aesthetician, and what job I’m at I work with a lot of athletes so I’d say 40% of my clientele are men. And you’re right! Skin care companies 100% target women.
The reason they make them like that is because women buy them. It's a chicken or egg scenario
Funny tho, even my tattooed friend do skincare daily and he is like super manly.
Omg omg omg this is not a drill people, not a drill 😦😦😦 we have the collaboration of the year💥
FACTS
Yasss
I love love love this collab agh goin crazy
this was the collab i didn't know i needed
The comment about spending time together when doing skincare is so true. When my husband and I started doing skincare together, I actually primarily did it for him, like he'd wash his face himself obviously but like I'd massage his face with serums for him and I'd apply his moisturizer and he always felt so happy and giddy when I'd do that. Now he does his own skincare, but we still do it together. Every evening that's like the last thing we do before we both crawl into bed together and it makes us feel close. Plus his face is softer now so if I didn't kiss his face enough already before I do now haha.
Same here! My boyfriend loves it when I pamper his skin, also it's great for bonding time
this is so cute. I hope to have a bf and eventual husband who will let me do this for him. I'm trying to get my dad into care, and I admit I need to be more attentive to him as he is getting older and I will soon be done with uni and have free time. It's such a nice small thing to do just like when I or my mom dresses him up when we go out sometimes.
That’s so fucking cute 😭 goals af
This is so cute 💓
I find it so sad that a lot of men don't think to do these things for themselves! It takes women like us to apply nice serums and moisturizers and face masks for them to realise they actually really enjoy pampering themselves. Gender norms make it "weird" for guys to take care of themselves and it's frustrating!
As a straight Girl i Will also say that if i ever Met a man who used pink “girly” products because HE CARES ABOUT HIS SKIN, that would be kinda sexy!
Love this combo!!
I love these two I’m so happy they worked together 🥺
I’m gay and I DON’T have a skincare routine. Doing my part to balance out the stereotype!
Thank you!
I honestly think that there are, equally men and women, gay and straight (and between), that do and that don't have skincare routine.
Most people, of all genders and sexualities, I know are just normal clean and that's it. Some are a bit more obsessed (not in a bad way!) with cosmetics, some are a bit "unclean" (not to bad) sometimes, and that's that.
