  • This Sunday Special, we’re taking notes from a professional! J&J are joined by Matthew Hussey (@thematthewhussey), a life coach and best-selling author with nearly 20 years of work elevating lives and relationships. We start with what Matthew came to terms with in the modern dating climate as his career evolved, then J&J get him to delve into how his own love life developed over time and the long-distance relationship that led him to say "I do" last year. His wife Audrey enters the chat to give her POV about their early stages and the surprising text she sent that drove him to make a decision. Plus, he answers listener questions sent in from Instagram, talks about raising your standards, and the importance of communication.

Love Matthew Hussey. So much wisdom and class. Jared why were you being so weird with Matthew?? Why try to rattle him?? I cringed so much from second hand embarrassment. 😮

Great episode but Jared's constant interruptions were super annoying!

Great guest to have on and happy it's a longer Sunday special, thank you!! Jareddddd! Some great observations but too many interruptions - it takes away from the guest's thought process and when stories are constantly broken, it's hard to listen to, but also feels like the speaker doesn't share what they originally intended to. Also, such a huge guest I feel like we aren't taking everything we could from his wisdom, not giving him enough air time. Really like that you both dug into Matthew's personal story at that pivotal moment of the 'I miss you' text and what made him try again - great to know.

Couldn’t agree more… the barking & never ending interrupting were too much. What’s the point of having guests if they can’t finish a sentence?

I love that take of "when you know you know" - that is something people say after a loooooooong time. It doesn't feel like that in real time at the beginning, don't CHASE that hit by a bus - so sure - feeling. A successful relationship is about two people chosing each other on the long run and putting in the effort. Loved the episode, I see why people are pissed at Jared :D But after the embarrassing barking session he was fine :D
And such a good intake on why to marry! I completely agree that it feels like a chapter, and a commitment that I would like to take.
I enjoyed the episode a lot!

Ooomg “big dog gotta eat” with the barking and the “dudes dudes dudes” is usually on the betchelor pod lol it’s actually funny cause I think he started doing it with gerry, the old man bachelor. But it doesn’t read the same way here! Also, I used to listen to j train but Jared has gotten more yelly and… energetic? Idk can be hard to listen to. Thankfully jordana is a good counter for him. I agree with other comments that he should try to watch the interruptions. Overall, I enjoyed the convo! Thought j&j asked good questions and I like the guest :)

Jordana, did you gift the book to Jared? I feel like Matthew was speaking directly to him this entire episode, LMAO.

Loved this episode and hearing about Matthew's actual experience with his wife. I do agree the response of letting someone know your standards HAS to be truly genuine. I've tried to play the game by giving responses like this, they were not from a place of true love and value for myself.. and just like Matthew said, 3 days later I went on to send a text, further proving that the initial response didn't stem from a place of truth. Once I started to work on myself (Matthew's books was one of the first books I read on relationships)... things started to shift for me! And the process was very, very slow because I had a lot of bad habits to break and not just at a surface level (with bogus texts), but from an inner trauma or learnt behavior/wrong belief systems that I had to first discover and question.
I had the experiences he mentioned where things started to shift for me little by little, just 10%.. almost so subtle you can hardly recognize it at first. But the more I practiced coming from a place of self-love the easier it was to continue this path and truly internalize it. My behavior and responses started to change, I no longer dismissed guys quickly like I used to when I felt PTSD over something they did or said... instead I questioned them or came from a place of vulnerability and curiosity, as well as being honest about my boundaries. That said, I still faced guys who walked away... but the feeling was different for me. I felt proud of myself, and with more dignity as I had felt in these situations in the past. I was finally okay with being alone if it meant not chasing someone who didn't want me just because I was lonely... actually being alone started to thrill me even more! I finally met my partner who now lives with me. Appreciating where I am, but also knowing that if it doesn't feel good to me anymore, I'm worthy enough to let go and move on should that day ever come. But right now it's a dream, and I don't really know if I can directly relate it to all the work I've done on myself, OR it was just pure luck... but I'm living in it now, and grateful for the entire journey.
I'm sure his second book is equally as valuable and can't wait to read it!
🖤🖤🖤 All this to say thank you for all your work Matthew Hussey ANDDD Jared & Jordana. I attribute a lot of my personal growth to all three of you.

@11:30 Annoying to hear Jordana describe this as a “men” thing. It’s a byproduct of the apps for men and women both. Plus a lot more men than women on the apps, which if anything would support a tilt in the opposite direction. Jordana tends to make a lot of these one sided generalizations.

Also, so funny to see people's very "honest" reactions to this episode... I think people should really try to respond as if they were talking to someone that they barely know's actual face . I find it hard to believe any of these things would be said in someone's face... Maybe to your sister/brother/ best friend... which neither Jared or Jordana are to any of the commentors I'm sure... Just feel like feedback is okay, but still act like you're talking to humans because you are... Ya'll are soOo "brave" lol.... Are you guys actually good people though? Talking to people the way you do in comments in actual life, I'd assume NOT. Show up on the internet as you would in real life!! Kind & humble because you guys are probably not the most perfect humans which is safe to say judging by the way you speak to strangers.
