Quite interesting. In my school days the existence of protons were regarded upon as a given. It is always nice to learn how a discovery was made, no matter how many years ago it happened.
How long ago was that?
For people who are confused, goldstein observed some positively charged particles in 1886 which were called anode rays but Rutherford in 1917 described and named Proton. So Rutherford is credited for Proton discovery

Such a problematic thing for beginners when you say canal rays are made up of protons and at the same time you found canal rays are made up of ions and then you know experiment was conducted in hydrogen gas which atoms without electron are nothing but protons 😅
