It’s not a scandi grind, it’s a full flat grind. Scandi grinds are on Moras.
I only use my Opinels for food prep or light work.

    👍🏼
Opinel; Great knife! Out cut any hi-dollar blade. :) Its been a work knife for hard working people since 1890something by the same family owned company; I think. The clip point is the only thing I don’t really like. I usually cut the blade to drop point or wharnclif. And I put a pocket clip & thumbstud on my no9. Very fun and easy to customize.

Yeah totally agree! I wish they made something with a lower tip. Might modify mine into a sheepsfoot 🤷🏻‍♂️

@@tacticalcenter8658 um…ok. Super slicey. Hard to beat; especially considering the cost vs actual use. A few swipes on the strop; good as new.

@@tacticalcenter8658 I 👍🏼your comment. I don’t want to have some kind of back and forth argument with you; I just really like Opinel. The history, the simplicity, the sliceyness and the ease of modifying to make it mine. I grew up with grandpas slipjoints to do work stuff so the lock is fine for me.

Definitely keep up with the cut tests! Those of us who watch definitively get a lot of enjoyment and useful information. As for the knife, it’s an awesome knife to carry around in your work bag or something in case you need something simple. I don’t carry it on my person but it’s never far away just in case! It’ll cut most things easily and you can definitely stab something or someone no problem with it in a pinch.

And I agree, I think I’ll start keeping an Opinel in my truck!

@@doodysdaggers hell yeah man it’s a great little back up slicer! And you never know when you are going to be sitting down for a nice charcuterie board and nobody has anything to cut with!

Scandi inox stainless is so much better than typical gahgahchinah knives. The carbone is like 1095 well tempered. Both are like a Mora kniv! Lovn them both! Get a 9 or 10 and keep your fingerz wrapped around handle to cut hose, cord, heavy cardboard with perfect ease!!!!!!!

Wait, did you just call an opinel a "scandi grind"? That my sir is incorrect... their grinds do vary from knife to knife , but this is a slight convexed full flat with a super tiny micro bevel. Never heard anyone refer to an opinel as a scandi

  • @lorenray9479
    @lorenray9479 Před 4 měsíci +1

Convex/full taper from spine to edge may not be a scandi. Lol

  • @andrewfett142

Get a no9 or bigger; gives you more material to mod down. 😁

  • @K.M925

They have utility models as well.
If you look closer, there is a micro bevel ,
Sharp spine it is great for feroroad ore parmesane scraping .
Try a new convex edge , not the factory edge for better results.

  • @DrDrewdude

I’m surprised at the edge retention, I thought for sure it would go dull halfway through.
