Classical singers earn respect through live performances. Classical singers do not usually opt for Bollywood as it is below their level. In India Bollywood singing is a separate stream while classical singers have their own platforms. There are many classical singers (gems) here and these two are among those gems. So what you heard was just surface of classical singing world.

Budding? That is your ignorance! They are already treated as legends. Perhaps you have no idea about classical. It’s like someone hearing Lata Mangeshkar and then saying “this girl has huge potential” when she is already legend. Both Rahul Deshpande and Mahesh Kale are already legendary singers.
Search for “Dil Ki Tapesh” of Rahul Deshpande. And they do not need any Bollywood film. They are classical vocalists. India we have these two separate music systems. But you can hear there songs in movie “Katyar Kaljaat Ghusali” as the movies is based on characters who are classical singers.

These two classical singers are very prominent classical singers who just sang a prominent n popular Marathi spiritual kirtan( praise to God for his peaceful benevolence). Our Bollywood is unfortunately not appreciative of our own classical heritage but completely taken over by loud Punjabi songs and Sufi songs.

Bhai, not every classical singers sing for Bollywood! They have their own audience. Check out Mahesh Kale's performance in Australia ,and Kausiki Chakrobarthy's performance too.
There r many like him who r very famous in India and among Indian diaspora abroad. We have exclusive classical music, dance festivals that are part of our culture which r till date protected. As I write this there is a Music festival happening in Chennai - on-line due to Covid restrictions. Otherwise ppl from across the world come to Chennai to participate and enjoy the season for Concert season in December month.

They does not need Bollywood. Bollywood, now a days is full of Vested interests.
