  • When people watch Simon or Richter players at the ledge, it looks like all they do is "JustPressB", but it's so much more than that. Watch and find out why the early meta ledgetrapping tactics have fallen and how you can improve your damage output and ability to KO.

    Im so happy you wont give up on the Belmonts! Since day 1 I've dedicated to being a Belmont main since I've loved Castlevania since middle school and Im glad I can consider myself at the very least borderline pro. Your videos are fantastic ways to be informed on all their strengths, weaknesses, ect. Thank you for being dedicated to teach us why House Belmont shouldn't be slept on

      Same here. Castlevania is my favourite series and I'll never drop the Belmonts, but I'm really hoping we get some respectable buffs in the next patch! 🙏

      @@Laihoard1995 sadly, it seems like the Belmont's are not the type of character to get buffed.. I wouldn't be too mad if they're never buffed again. They're pretty good as they are.. but yeah I'll gladly take any buffs! Hopefully they don't buff them too much though because then more people might start using them and I love using characters no one uses

      @@julianmanjarres1998 I'm hoping the balance team takes note on how severely underplayed they are and buff them accordingly. I feel like even Little Mac is more common than the Belmonts and it's sad.

      Yeah, been a Belmont main since August 21st, 2018 (didn't get to play them for another few months though). even after most of the Belmont mains have dropped them, I still find it very possible to adapt to the meta. As long as you stay with it you can keep up and naturally and subconsciously adapt to the new stuff. It's simple: Strategy doesn't work? Try something new. Rinse and repeat.

    Guys I misspoke in part one of the video. Neutral getup only has 1 frame of vulnerability. If someone tries to shield immediately after, there’s a 2 frame window to punish because shield takes one frame before it comes out. If someone has a frame 1 jab for example, you only have 1 frame to grab the neutral getup. You wouldn’t have to time it perfectly because grabs are active for one frame though.

    The transitions with the same combo on Mario were a bit repetitive. Fantastic advice though! I'm definitely going to level up with this advice. I'll now mostly use jump holy water and slow cross at ledge, as the higher I get on ladder the more I realize axe is destroying me with how laggy it is against folks who know the matchup. Thanks a ton!

    You're amazing, man. So glad to hear you sticking with your Belmont even after the frustrations I'm sure you've dealt with over time. I know we have spoken before in the comments and let me say again, thank you so much for these videos as I really do learn something everytime.
    If I were to make requests for your next awesome vid(s)- could you talk more in depth about:
    1. Getting out of disadvantage with the Belmonts (particularly just getting back on the stage from ledge against certain options) and 2. Probably the most frustrating to me of late, options against shielding opponents! Omfg, I swear now that people know how to shield the projectiles and the aerials, I just get eaten up sometimes with fast characters who can essentially run up shield everything then punish with grabs or fast aerials and tilts (looking at you, Inkling -_-). I know there's axe and forward smash shield break at ledge and of course, grabbing, but the Belmonts grab and movement speed to grab is... rough sometimes in neutral.

    Great stuff, I feel that cycling full hop fire and short cross should be the go to ledge trap. Ive also learned that descending fire can be spaced consistently on bf and ps2 by wavedashing backwards toward center stage on the platforms and fullhopping fire on bf, and quick doublejump on ps2. The timing on descending fire is very generous for 2 framing, which has a guaranteed f smash follow up by falling through platform and fsmashing.

    Nice video! A small correction is that neutral getup is only vulnerable for 1 frame before shield is active. It might look like 2 frames but the shield visual appears frame 2 while it functions from frame 1.

  • @patrickl20
    @patrickl20 Před 4 lety +2

    Thanks for this. Definitely need more Belmont guides.
    Is dash attack at ledge of good ledge trapping option? It works against characters like cloud which don't normally get hit by things like f-smash at ledge.
    Also I found a funny little mechanic. The first instance of down tilt(slide 1) has a different knock back when the enemy is it 112 damage (actual knock back instead of flinch) and the move is not stale. This allows for a down smash set up. Not sure how true this combo is tho.

    T3 I have not given up on Belmont’s. Being a huge castlevania fan since nes (yes I’m old), I decided to main the Belmont’s as soon as they were announced. Many players have given up on the Belmont’s because of their weaknesses. Thank you for the content as there isn’t much out there for the Belmont’s. One question I have, do you use the c stick for your aerials or the a plus directional stick option. I struggle on those aerial angles.

    • @t3dom677
      @t3dom677  Před 4 lety +1

      The most important thing is using c-stick for tilts. It's important since spacing ftilts is important in neutral. Other than that, I've been contemplating using a shoulder button for jump to help juggle more easily with up air.
