But the question is not about who is the most gifted or talented player of all time so your preference towards the great Rudy Hartono(indeed, this legend is an absolutely gifted and the toughest player to beat back in the day during his era). However, if you say again that your no 1 idol in badminton is still Rudy, then thats a very good one you pick but sometimes being the most gifted doesnt necessarily means they are also someone else's idol (in their mind). For example, i can say the most gifted player that i ever witness in badminton is Lin Dan, but my no 1 idol is LCW although Lin Dan is a close second or third.
Or i can say, among the women's badminton field the most gifted player for me would be, TTY due to her insane badminton skills but my no 1 idol is a tie between Susi Susanti and An Se Young due to their intensity and the extremely physical in nature and durable game play in nature that they can force their opponents to endure in order to win a match

Momota's answer is very carefully structured so as not to offend any players (presemt and past). After all, everyone who shared the court has had an impact one way or another.
But the question, if I were as a person worthy to be asked of, is more of a personal and singular, and not a collective impact, and I would say Lee Chong Wei. To me, he played gracefully, respectfully, and proudly. Despite his shortcomings, he remained true to his name. Hail to the G.O.A.T.
