This has quickly become one of my favourite channels, no messing just getting on with the jobs, amazing to see how this vehicle has gone from abandoned in a field, to where you’re at now! Can’t wait to see it finished
You have such a cool thing going with the channel and the projects i cant stop watching. I do admit i came from WD but i stayed for every single video and the adventure has been worth all the time i spent. You truly did encourage me to go out and fix the machines that were left for later times, had some old ATVs/dirtbikes i just needed to put time into and having your videos in the background makes it so much more bearable. Don't think i will ever have the time or money for an armored vehicle restoration any time soon but maybe one day and i will know who to blame for it. Keep up these awesome videos, and thanks for letting everyone in the group to add something the video. Seeing the pups always makes the day better.
Joe, thank you for all the education. One little tip from someone who works outdoors, often in the UK it rains but only for 10mins, if you get undercover for 10mins you don't get wet, unless you like getting wet, so far you haven't given that impression.
roger that, i've seen a few with Dowty kit still fitted, but no drive shafts (easily made i know) i guess in them days the MoD were or might be a little niffed if a bunch of civi's actually made them work instead of drowning by leaving plugs out - a good friend of mine had one and got tugged by the military police, who thought he might have nicked it, it took twenty minutes of explaining, them cops are not very bright
@@grahamjones4888 are we talking wading plugs in the lower hull - send me one, we'll get making them to sell to every stolly owner - saying that, we are just making a load for Challenger, cheap as chips, but we add about 4million percent
great episode guys , thought this was going in the storage until time permitted or is it just too exciting not try to get it to swim again , cant wait to see the next part , your all completely mad as a box of frogs well done
Charlie isn't going to get much sleep in the next 10 days. Have you booked uncle Albert for the Stolly's maiden voyage? - Hopefully he won't sink this one! Hopefully Jack won't be out of action for too long, I enjoy the challenge of reading his T shirts. He won't be able to jump up,and down on the tanks so easily. When it rained, were you able to find the capacity of your pants before the rain leaked out? Keep up the good work. 👏👍👏
Dear Joe, Your Alvis Stalwart FV620, alias Stolly, seems to run rather well but offers some disproportion in her reverse gear. Besides that this vehicle has a lot of similarities with a colander😀 At th other hand I really hope you’ll be able to refurbish the vehicle so that it can be used as an amphibious vehicle again. I look forward to your next vlog and send you love from the Netherlands
Can't wait to see her swim! , my son Franco and I watch your videos every night, and tonight he was pretty excited to see a violin on your video ,he can play the violin so was pretty excited :)
Brilliant.Just Brilliant!!... All of it it. The bods, the jobs, the machines... the environment, the vibe, I'm hooked, hurry up and film some more stuff. If I was closer I would volunteer to make tea or shovel sh.... well stuff to help... Good show old beans !!!
Amazing to see this iconic vehicle being restored I passed my HGV class 2 in the army over forty years ago brings back lots of memories of being posted in Germany.
Great episode. That's some 'willful' rain. Had a short visit to England years ago. After 11 days, I saw a cumulative hour of sunshine. Wonderful experience. Looking forward to seeing the STOLLY sea worthy.
Don't know why but seeing that old lass rolling again is "Thrilling"! (Have you looked at the "Chieftons" vid on this? apparently, as a six-wheel drive, it winds the transmission up to the point of wrecking the transmission on hard surfaces and does not on off-road! brilliant stuff Please keep going!
I like the way the T34 has been abandoned so you can play with the new toy! I do that trick with the hydraulic oil in my tractor, it just takes 2 months to run out, still easier than pulling the drive off the engine and cab to get to the leaking seals.
Hmm sounds easier (and I bet cheaper) than getting a front axel diff-lock sensor from Italy. Comes from living in the(very) lower colon of the world's parts supply chain I expect.@@samleigh7817
This channel is awesome it wouldn’t (it would) even surprise me if they pull the maus outa the Russian museum From under the dust and rust and get it to work 😂
I don´t usually do comments that often, hardly ever, but this is my third here on this channel, and it will not be my last. What you´ve already done in this short time is great. You guys are talented and capable, and I´m really into this, please keep going. ( just a bit addicted to that "straight eight" sound, lets me sleep better 😜) Looking forward to the next one. 🤠
You can't be wanting to take this cheese out swimming! Seriously? Good thing the crane is working again, so it can lift itself out of the water again 🙂
You understand that’s not a crane but a deployable mast for oceangoing sail rigging? Adds a couple mph when underway in the ocean. All the way it runs a triangular sail, tilt the upper arm it’s a square rigger.
The hard yellow thing that gets rubbed onto the fiddle bow is rosin. It's a solid form of resin obtained from pines and some other plants, mostly conifers.
Just watched this Stolly vid and Iain Tyrrell tuning a twin V12 Lamborghini engined Riva speedboat in Italy. The similarities of man and machine are uncanny...😉. Both brilliant Bank Holiday entertainment.
I remember going to an auction of military vehicles at an adventure centre, maybe late 90's, in Norfolk. Chieftains made around £3,500, but a Stalwart with crane made most money of all, with a hammer price around £8,500, full working order..
Great to see. my mate who is ex REME was telling me that there two different HIABS. One for the REME and one for the Artillery that he was attached to. basically , one locks out and the other doesn't. He got it wrong one day and nearly dropped an engine on someone.
I've seen a modification where quick release hydraulic fittings are plumbed to the hyd lines from the engine driven pump. That way if the engine dies on the Stolly, you can connect up a stand alone hydraulic rig or connect it to another Stolly similarly equipped with jumper hoses so that you can operate the crane to unload whatever is in the load bed in order to lift the engine decks to access the engine.
Seems a pretty stout platform tbf, from the starter trying to go immediately to the Hydrolics still being good and her running very well aftwr first start all things considering, yea solid looking platform thanks for introducing me to them, you'd recommend one of these over a SKOT then I presume?...👍👌👍
Years ago salvage squad recommissioned one of these they had to put all new rubber seals around all the bed doors and a splash guard on the cab to stop the windows getting pushed in

Well with the Hi-Ab raised up like that at least you'll have the option to rig a sail!

Such a great episode. Great job on getting the HIAB going and freeing off the clutch. 😊👍🏻
Amazing work !
Just goes to show how good the original engineering was imo 👍🏼🏴☠️✌🏼
I must say I am very impressed! Not only did you managed to get the old girl running, but driving as well! Bravo gentlemen, bravo!
Amazing how nice those B81 engines sound after sitting for so long.

My impression is it rains for six month of the year and drips off the trees the other six lol.
What I like is that even in the pouring rain you still crack a joke and keep going, hard core man😊
Jack will bring arsing around to new levels after his operation.
I don’t think swimming is quite on the cards yet.
To find a Stollie with swimming gear still fitted is remarkable

We had to remove all the Dowty marine units, when it was decided that they would now “swim” anymore.
Awesome work and love the content. Agricultural engineering at its best.
If you do try to swim the Stolly, make sure the roof hatch is open ready for a quick escape Joe, or Matt if he has any legs!

Parts for the T34 are in short supply there is a shortage in Russia, got them on back order.
@@samleigh7817 Well that's as good a reason as any. How the hell do you get parts out of Russia these days?
@kiwidonkeyk1656 Wait for ukrain to scrap the Russian tanks and then ask them, Poland, to the UK twice a week competitive rates phone Pawel or Pjitor😀
