This is already happening in some movies where core characters are brought back to life. They also use the same technique to make actors look younger.
what you have is a COPY of face of an actor. That doesnt mean you have immortal actor on the screen, you wont have his emotions, his unique acting and point of view how to act in exact scene. All you have is a face.
And also never need to work, they can just sell their data
Absolutely nothing wrong with the actress. But I grew up in the early 2000s and Angelina’s still the only raider I rate. She was phenomenal.

@@lanabeniko5147 they tried to add elements from the Tomb Raider reboot and mix it in with the movie but those who know the true origin of Lara’s father and what happened to him from the originals to the 2001 movie with Angelia Jolie it makes it very confusing to try and work out that timeline with modern Lara’s timeline it’s a mess.

Visually and technically this is incredible, but you can tell this isn't Angelina's acting because (and no disrespect to Alicia) Angelina moves with so much grace when she's on screen. She has an elegant and timeless quality about her that only she can pull off. Amazing stuff though Shamook! You constantly outdo yourself!

@@paulatreides1354 I know very well how to make such videos! You have to collect footages with the actor you want to replace the original character with. The main problem is a long render, which can take a couple of days!
I wish Hollywood would consider to bring back Angelina Jolie to carry on with Lara but playing as an older Lara Croft which is a side of Lara that we haven't seen before...so it has to be rebooted and it has to be R rated with intense moments and gruesome stuff but also even more action packed...I think that would be cool. And Alicia can still of course carry on with her version too just to make it fair.

I’m surprised this looks as good as it does, only because the two actresses have quite differently shaped faces, that’s always seemed like the hardest thing to get around.

They do have things in common that the deepfake usually has no influence on, like a big forehead, sideway protruding cheekbones which help sell the angelina face
@@PowerRedBullTypology I think with her hair pulled back in the later scenes, it still looks partly like Alicia due to the forehead. With her hair down in the opening scene, it really looks like Angie.

I think this just shows how freakishly beautiful Angelina is. Even another beautiful woman looks plain next to her. And that's meaning no disrespect, it's just Angelina is perfect.
You're incredibly talented! I'm no technical wizard and embarrassed to say, the technology of how this is possible goes way over my head - I literally find it unbelievable that it can look this good. When the subject is looking side-on, it can sometimes look a little wrong, but face-on... sometimes it looks utterly perfect and that's when I'm awestruck. How on earth is this possible!!!! I really think studios should push harder and harder with this technology as it would solve a lot of cringey issues like when they recast in Star Trek and Star Wars.
What are you referring to when you say recast in star trek? I know the starwars blunder, not familiar with the star trek reference.
IIRC they had an AI that could guess real and fake faces, then had another AI try to make fake faces that could fool it, and had them play against each other millions of times until the faking AI became almost unbeatable. This is that AI.
Or when an actor dies and they have to replace him or her.
Surely they must be pushing this tech already, behind the scenes...surely?
@@thesprawl2361 why behind the scenes? they do use it, its just that its not reliable enough atm to be used alone ona big project. They use it in combination with traditional cg in some studios

Plus, I have watched the Beowulf movie on Imax back on the day, and let me tell you it's incredible how this technology surpases that Angie version with a, I suppose, way smaller budget now. Speechless.

Angelina was the superior Lara. She was born for the role. It's like Lara stepped right out of the video game. The reboot movie was ok but the beginning was way too long, took too long to get her to the island, and not enough time of Lara just being Lara with exploration and the thing with her dad was weird.

so you never understood the character of lara croft. Tomb raider is not fast & furious, that brand was also destroyed because of that terrible trash movie. Luckily Eidos was able to create a reboot without those stupid ones, and restore deepness, and luckily they chose Alicia, a real actress for the part.

And the "reboot," as they call the 2013 game, was the tombstone on the grave of the original idea and style of the Tomb Raider 1996. It's turned into an ordinary action/shooter. And Lara, through the efforts of feminists, has turned into another "woman who rebuffs men." Trash movie with Angelina Jolie did not destroy anything much, by that time brand was already destroyed. But the new generation 2000 sees no problem, and they like the new Lara Croft, especially since they haven't played the first game in the series. And even if they suddenly play, they will not change their minds, they already accept Lara 2013 as the only true one.

There are so many technical challenges here. When I was messing around with Faceswap, it would fail to capture facial sideviews, fart itself whenever more than one face appeared in the scene, start flickering whenever there was obstruction in front of the face...
Your work is Hollywood quality. If you used Faceswap you definitely used Villain model, but I still don't know how you overcame the other challenges. Very well done.

Alicia's facial features are way too soft to sell Lara Croft to me, sorry, but the idea of what and who Lara is is engraved in our minds from way before and even though Angelina is far from my ideal Lara (the one from the older video games) she sure is more convincing in the role. This just shows that even though the rebooted Lara has little resemlance to the "original" one, they could have still hit the mark pretty well just by the actress's visuals

Im torn. As hard as Alicia worked to look the part, its hard to see her face blotted out by another actress. But as much as I loved Angelina in the first two movies, I love seeing the continuity of her young face on Lara as a back story. The replacement is FLAWLESS.

No, Sharkie. It is actually an opportunity to Angelina to return to one of her famous roles. Don´t get me wrong, I liked the 2018 reboot, specially Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft. But Jolie´s Tomb Raider is more nostalgic and has a lot of charisma, and i wish she could return to make the third entry in this famous franchise.

Deepfakes don't recreate mannerisms, they literally copy and paste an actor's face on another actor's performance.

Imagine being able to put your face on any character in a movie, imagine putting your face on Indiana Jones or Han Solo etc? (you wouldn't need to do the whole film only the parts with their character, but you could also populate the rest of the film with friends and family etc) it would make an incredible gift,
Alicia did such a good job. The deepfake is really well done, but the body proportions don't fit, they just have different head shapes I think.
