Living in zone 3 on the Canadian Prairies presents unique challenges for homesteading and herbalism. The harsh climate, dry and nutrient-poor soil, and risk of drought are just a few of the obstacles we face. However, we have found ways to adapt, using new technologies, crop genetics, and gardening techniques. We also source plants from other regions and dry and store them for future use. We are excited to share these tips and techniques with you.
We are inspired by our grandfather, who taught us the value of determination and the importance of living in harmony with nature. His love for gardening and herbalism has stayed with us throughout our lives, and we are honored to carry on his legacy.

Well done on both the seed business and publishing a book Cody! I admire your achievements. Such a fab growroom. I have recent lovely memories in the garden when the whales come in the beginning of summer. Hearing them blow as I garden is a bit magical to me.

My 95 year old aunt (tells everyone she's 25) and I (just turned 70) want to put in raised beds/some sort of greenhouse so we can relive our experiences of gardening while growing up, her with her parents "Victory Garden" and me gardening with my grandmother as a child. I remember bits and pieces, i.e. Grandma saving seeds from year to year and putting some seeds in the freezer before planting them but neither of us remember the how and why things were done that way. We just ran across your video and really enjoyed it. The both of us have decided we definitely want to stay with heirloom seeds and plants but honestly have no idea how big of a garden we need to feed our family of 4? We're both starting our 2nd childhood and are looking forward to viewing and learning from your videos!!!! Florence and Carole

Thanks for the update on the onions, please more, as I need to start growing them from seeds. The snow has melted here in the mountains in central Italy and it's getting hotter than usual, next week it's going to be 18 Celsius 😳 unheard of😞..I'm already dreading summer. Oh the book, don't know if you ship to Italy!
@@groundskeepercody6013 thank you for your kind reply and showing an interest. Where I live in the mountains in central Italy the weather used to be very cold in winter with lots of snow and hot in summer, between 28 degrees Celsius to 33degrees Celsius..but sadly for the last four years summers are becoming very hot, last year it was between 35 degrees Celsius to 40degrees Celsius! And no rain, it was torture. Anyway, it's really beautiful here with lots of trees as it all mountain..some hills are planted with wheat but not as in other parts of Italy, it's mainly small family-run dairy farms for cheeses or meat ..lots of fruit trees too. I live alone, no family apart from my four-legged friends and family 🥰Anyway,best of luck young man, keep inspiring 😊👏👍

Good tip on bottom watering, we found out that our shelves weren't level by with this method, lol. It's pretty important if you're bottom watering, though.
Congrats on the book !! My favorite gardening memory is impossible, but I definitively say it's was with Colleen:)
