Wow Fran's ballet in the rain ,some fabulous shots of the Chirk aqueduct crossing, the size of those leeks at the veggie store and the delicious sounding supper supplemented with some secretive foraging .Then the walk to the Abbey ruins .I quite agree to surround that beauty and historical presence with 21st century tat is a crime.
All in all a lovely vlog thanks guys

I totally agree with you Fran on the placing of the caravan site surrounding the Abbey ruins. We all want people to enjoy holidays in the countryside but the authorities should have stopped it. Thanks, guys for sharing your excursion into Wales.

    • @AndyJarman
      @AndyJarman Před 3 lety

As they say in the country - you can't eat the scenery!
Rural councils are usually barely able to support employing a proper engineer, and the local electorate would all be wanting their own caravan park.
No votes in it for the Councillors. Heritage Wales obviously caught napping there.

Stunning scenery, thanks for your hardwork in putting the video together Fran & Rich. Fran I loved how you went and danced in the rain, some of us do that here in Oz when it’s been 40 degrees Celsius for a few days and high humidity. I saw the hire boat hit the wall before entering the aqueduct, and thought - seriously - he wasn’t watching what he was doing. I’d have let them go ahead to. 💗💙🙋‍♀️ from Oz

Yep, but don't tell anyone its a great secret.
All the traffic is on the motorways too, miles of idyllic country lanes for cycling.
There are public footpaths criss-crossing the countryside too, so you get to walk through farm yards, across fields and through woods.
Most villages have mediaevil churches and great pubs, and you hardly ever have to walk more than a few miles between them!

Seeing Fran dancing about in the rain after a hot day, reminds me when i was a kid listening into the cricket from the WACA ground in Perth, and the callers speaking about the 'Freemantle Doctor'. Perth is on the Swan River, a little inland and can get quite hot, but in the afternoon the sea breeze wafts in from Freemantle and cools things down no end, and i have always thought it a very descriptive term to use.

You can cancel the RTH and take over the controls when it get near to you or you can update the homepoint to your present location (wherever the remote is) and it will come to you, then you can land it yourself.

What a delightful beautiful video. Thank you. By the way, we have cows, they hate being hit on the forehead, so you should only need to wave your stick at them if they get too close. Well the Thai cows are like that so I guess the UK ones might be the same - let me know lol.
Love the shots of the rain from inside, so cozy.

I totally agree with you Fran re caravan park and I have a campervan. It just doesnt do the Abbey justice. Glad to see you are enjoying Wales, such a beautiful place .

@@FloatingOurBoat exactly! And to think permission has to be given by the local planning to do it! Mind boggling!

Oh, that was so refreshing. I loved Wales when I was living in the UK. We found a little village called Ebwe Vale that we liked so well. Thanks, Rich and Fran. For us it was a welcomed return. XOXO Merry Ann and Dave from Minnesota

I found chicken of the woods a few years ago and had it with eggs and bacon. What I didn't know was that it is poisonous from a certain tree. Close shave I think. I agree about the camp site, Fran, it did spoil the scenery rather.

A break from filming for a couple of days! That is abandoning your sacred duty to keep us foreign couch-canal-surfers constantly entertained. Seriously though, another nicely crafted and entertaining vlog.

Another superb video, capturing the essence of some fabulous Welsh sights and scenery.
I found some geocaches there last year - one by the meter house beside the falls and another near the fence above the church.
We must have been lucky - the Basin was barely half full even though it was peak time.
Chirk to Llangollen must be among the best bits on the canal network, would you think?

We've watched this a while back, probably when it was fresh, anyway I love your enthusiasm and engagement with the difficulties of Welsh language and place names. We're also sorry for the delays with the new boat and can't wait to see it.
Just as an aside... you recently mentioned your intentions to travel Europe in a motorhome and we will look forward to watching your travels, we managed to move onto wheels and get onto the continent in mid December but try as we have, due to covid and brexit we have been left with no options but to return to the UK. So we are now looking to buy ourselves a boat and follow your lead.
Sorry to hear about your recent losses.
Hopefully by the time you move onto rubber, there will be some better options than 90 days in 90 out.
Keep up the good work Donna, Martin & Dylan the 🐕
