- The Retekess TR606 makes a fantastic portable AM FM radio with the inclusion of a Cassette Player/Recorder. Time to Make some Mixed Tapes :) There is still an audience out there that demand cassettes as an audio medium for their new releases in the 2020's. I wanted one to play my Old Time Radio shows that I have on tape. The TR606 does a fine job with these tasks and will surprise you on the AM and FM bands.

Features that I like about this Cassette Player:
Above Average FM Reception.
Evening AM Reception is Fantastic.
Speaker. Great for Cassette Playback.
Built in Microphone.
Headphone Experience is good on the Radio, there is some hum when playing tapes.
External Microphone Jack.
DC Input Jack.
Included USB to DC Power Cable.
Telescopic Antenna for FM is 19 1/4".
Runs on Two AAs.
Features that could be Added or Improved on:
FM Stereo.
LED Power Indicator.
LED Record Indicator.
Overall, I am very surprised that the radio portion of this Cassette Recorder works so well. A perfect pickup if you need a smaller tape player/recorder. The ideal price would be around $25, so watch for deals, and get your Mix On :)

The Play button has the arrow pointing Left, so the markings on the FF/ REW buttons are correct, but opposite of the usual arrangement. Cassettes may be making a comeback, but most of the Devices manufactured today to play them have a long way to go to match the quality and capability of the older ones.
I see this is still available. It goes on my wish list! That's really decent AM performance. I still buy cassette tapes when the mood hits me!
Nice, I can't find them around my town anymore.
They need to make one just like this but make it to where it plays in stereo through the headphones and maybe add a bass boost switch and this thing would be awesome. Perhaps make the tuner digital also.
I didn't even know Retekess made tape players and then today Amy Lee of Evanescence just posted a short clip of one playing on her instagram, and now you post a video of one. Weird coincidence.
I have a Jensen labeled version of this. It's actually been great for recording severe weather coverage on radio.

It still looks like it's sealed rice casserole I've always been a fan of radio I know there's the internet but your local radio stations are still very important and they play a big role in the world of media. More than one portable radio. However your videos have inspired me to start collecting various portable radios. So I am now on a mission to find new and old classic portable radios I have two right now and a lot more to buy in the future. I have a video on my channel of one radio that I ordered that has seven short way bands AM FM and it's Bluetooth and mp3.

Awesome little player sir! Can you recommend a tiny player like this that would allow me to back up my cassettes onto a USB thumb drive without the use of a computer? I’ve seen a couple but they have bad reviews on Amazon. I’m hoping you can help me, I need to back up my tapes the easiest way possible, without a PC. thank you sir! Tape record is a must too
Use new ones if you don't care about audio quality (ex. Voice recordings) use an old/used casette player to a computer audio input if you want better quality

Does it play in stereo? One I got (another brand) didn`t and the radio didn`t work.
The radio works well on this one, but it is not stereo playback.
I found some Maxell tapes online. One place had them for $1.14 each

But does it record fm in any way! If so high fidelity? Any flutter from the mechanism?

Can you record your favorite music and radio shows from this radio????? What's missing is the weather band. You can record all the weather radio broadcast you want including watches and warnings.
Yes you can! I have not tested this though, since I'm using it mainly as a player.

lol - the speaker magnet, however small, sitting right next to the tape is terrible design... built in degaussing :/
I wondered about that as well.
@@todderbert I guess it could be shielded, and its probably a low risk from the small size, but not sure I would put any of my "prized" old cassette tapes in there :)
