Have to wonder how many here remember the Chambers Brothers..
I do.
KonaMark . Back in the day this was one of my favourite psychedelic tunes
KonaMark they opened for the Doors at the Hollywood Bowl July 4th 1968.
Douglas Fernandez The Doors played the Bowl on July 5th. July 4th, they played the Swing Auditorium in San Bernardino. You were close.
KonaMark but the Chambers Brothers did open for them! :)
Driving to the show the brothers heard the sound system from far off. They were excited to be able to use a superior sound system. Unfortunately they weren’t permitted to use it. :/

I started writing poetry at 12 and got serious at 13. My English teacher noticed my talent and we talked....music, lyrics were my first inspirations. And he told me he saw the Chambers Bros. and they played Time....Twice! Cool the Ramones still had some of that ole Time left in them when they came on the scene and did their own thing. 1983...a Merman I should turn to be, Too bad they didn't give that song a go. The greatest American band of all-time in my opinion and one of the top 10 greatest bands of all time. Ramones were a hugely influential, kick-ass straight forward, simple but explosive rock and roll band. Long live Ramones!

This is an astounding cover of The Chambers Brothers. Wonderfully executed, and Joey's crooner voice is never better showcased. Just for fun, I want to contextualize this from a highly personal point of view. Yeah, I am friggn old. 1968, I am living in Tucson, sharing a house with a friend who has gone basically nuts. He locked himself in his room, taking acid, he listened to Chambers Brothers Time, over and over and over, for 2 days straight.
@O.P. Yates Don't believe the hype.
@O.P. Yates Tucson, 1967-70 was simply delightful. Mt Lemon was open to the public, the desert was astounding, and the town was mellow. Alas, etc etc etc. I never went back.

Saw The Chambers Brothers at the Legendary Fillmore East in the East Village NYC. It was February 13th 1970. Row 5 only $5.50. The opening act was Peter Jameson and Spencer Davis(formerly of the Spencer Davis Group),followed by Taj Mahal, then The Chambers Brothers. An awesome night and morning of music. We caught the 11:30pm show. Ended around 3am.
That MUST have been awesome - and I bet it is even greater looking back through the prism of time in light of where music has gone since then.

I love love love the Ritchie Cordell drum sound on this album, it sounds so unique, dry and succinct. He also produced Joan Jett's "I love Rock n' Roll" with that sound. Sadly he didn't do much more than that, lots of albums in the 80s could've been even better with that drum sound.
