A great song for the greatest ever Olympics
Never get tired of hearing this beautiful song.
10 years ago we had no idea how good we had it
As Leo ad-libbed at the end of "Don't Look Up"...
Holy cow! This song invokes so many fantastic memories of London 2012. For once I could shout from the roof tops and say loudly " I'm British and I'm proud " every nation, creed, colour, religion for 16 days came together in harmony on our little island. I will never ever forget those 16 days either special memories for a special time.
Well said that man!
now where did this pride go :( The 2012 Olympics where the UKs last friendly hurrah towards the world
@@AccAkut1987 I couldn't agree with you more on that one. Now, we've turned into a poisonous little island.
@@neilbowers6956 Painfully true. I don't even recognise this country in the last few years. It's horrendous.
@@neilbowers6956 thanks to the left scum
Quite probably the best Olympics ever and quite probably Seldom Seen Kid, the best album ever , every song quality.
I love Elbow!
The greatest Olympic ever. I held my 1 year old in my arms watching the triple gold evening……first olympics I cried at the closing ceremony. Hey I don’t care what anyone says about my country, we know how to put an event on!!!
Listening to Gus in an interview on radio 4 this morning, so made me want to watch this today. Best Olympics ever.
The greatest Olympics
This is the song & group that will always evoke memories of one the best events in not just the 2012 but in recent history. Showcasing mankind at his absolute finest Well done, a big thumbs up for the hum race.:-)))
I was there, it was a fantastic night, great entertainment, this was awesome, goose bumps return. A night I shall not forget.
I'm getting goosebumps listening to it at home rn lol. I'm going to see them in Belfast NI at the end if June and I can't wait.
elbow are fantastic
This truly is amazing. I honestly wish I saw it there. Hell I wish I saw the entire Olympics and Closing Ceremony.
Thanks for posting this. Heard this wonderful song in the background as the athletes walked into the stadium. Stupid NBC refused to show the band playing (or even say who it was), so we assumed it was just background music being piped in through the speakers. I'd never heard of the band, so listened to the lyrics and heard the refrain "throw those curtains wide", then Googled the song. Now discovered a wonderful artist.
Had a big surprise myself when I heard it on the tv. I'd heard One Day Like This a year before and can remember thinking, that's the most epic song I've ever heard! Lo and behold :)
Hi, firstly very jealous.
The press kept saying we were going to be a laughing stock. I remember watching half excited, half wondering when the embarrassment would be too much that I would have to turn off. But it was all so brilliant. Totally different to anything I had seen before.
I have copies of the opening and closing ceremonies. If you want can create a download link for you.
Boris should have kept the flag and not passed on to Rio.
Wow! You won't forget that in a hurry, looks amazing!
Best Closing Ceremony since Sydney.
Better than Sydney. Australia doesn't have British musicians.
you know when you hear a song when your really happy, or just enjoying yourself loads you always love that song because of the memories it brings back, even if its a really bad song otherwise?! for me, thats what makes this song special!
This entire string of performances will blow you away then! Search for elbow and the BBC Concert Orchestra and Choir
That was cool!! enough said!
i believe this song was played at the memorial service for british sailing great Andrew "Bart" Simpson, an olympian himself. he was an inspiration and will be missed. rip.
elbow in paradise today
The Daily Telegraph said the sales on this album went up over 1000 percent after this performance. Great to see them getting more recognition!
How dare they, Elbow Are Supreme!
Now I know where I heard this...
Great
The first time it was live and them singing, but then the athletes took so long to come in, that they ended up having to do it as background music and repeat all the songs.
I WAS THERE
nice
Hi MJB22, Is there anyway I can get copies of your videos from the ceremonies? I performed in both the 2012 Olympics Opening and Closing Ceremonies and I appear in a lot of your videos so would love to be able to get copies with your permission. Please let me know if it is possible. Thanks Destiny Michelle x
Who the fuck disliked this? Was is ISIS?
troll
Piss-poor singer.. Don't know his name, don;t want to either..
say what you want about his singing, he's a brilliant lyricist
Guy Garvey, and he's a great singer. It's not all about technical prowess. He's emotive and soulful.
@@bentownsend4017 Hey wait a sec we're commenting within a day of each other eight years after the original comment XD
