Old school Pantera was more glam-power metal. Good but not great. Once they found their place in groove metal, they became one of the best.

@@azuredragon7879 Yeah. Glam/Hair/Spandex with Terry Glaze on vocals. Formed in 1981 when Dimebag was only 14. (He turned 15 later that year) He called himself Diamond Darrel back then. There is actually footage of them from that time somewhere here on CZcams.

One of the best songs by arguably the best band ever. This band holds a special place in my heart. My mom went to school with both Darrell and Vinny and was great friends with the band. I grew up around these guys and had many infant and toddler photos with this band. The next song is the live version of Domination, top five break downs of ALL TIME.

I love reactions to Cemetery Gates. Love seeing people's faces changing as this marvelous track progresses. I was about to say that I'd wish I could hear this song for the first time again, but thank God this song always feels like I'm hearing it for the first time and I'm not bullshitting you. And so it's been for the past 30 years. Legendary track, I believe this is the last great rock/metal anthem that gets universal praise. Pure musical & creative genius from the band that was PANTERA.

I discovered them for myself right before Gunge came out, so in 1990 I heard their song "Cowboys From Hell", so I looked and found more, right before another one came out. There is some 90s stuff that slid around. C.O.C Corrosion of Conformity, Rob Zombie, Jane's Addiction, Clutch, Tool- their first album before "Sober" came out. Slayer, Sepultura, Slipknot, Suicidal Tendencies. It's almost like you need a decade, then a genre to choose. Parts of why CZcams is great...

Or even do Pantera - Walk as done by 3 different singers (Colt Shedden, Kaden Karns, and Taylor Jade Campbell) from O'Keefe Music Foundation each version is way different.

I'd also like to add A7X and Disturbed from the same concert as honorable mentions.

"Is this gonna be pretty?" - Oh, Chels, Chels, Chels - was it? Was it pretty? 😅🤣
Also, Mat - that bit at the end where you "couldn't work out if it was the guitars or him" - it was both: Phil would do his scream, then the guitar would match it; there were 3 of those, then Dimebag (the guitarist) threw in a higher-pitched note at the end, above what Phil could do, as a sort of friendly dig

My fav band ever. Saw them twice live. Next up do Domination live in Moscow, then do album versions of this love, hollow, becoming, by demons be driven.....basically can't pick a bad song because it doesn't exist!
