    It's the Best looking design on the market!

    • @UltimateTuner10

      I think it’s one of the better looking just for being unique, too many bikes these days have dropped seatstays and look more or less the same to me. I know people who think it’s hideous though, and I have to admit the day I ordered mine I was online looking at photos after and thought “oh man it’s kind of ugly”. I think it looks much better in person than the stock photos on the TREK site though

    For the SLR 7 gen 7, I bought instead a brand new SL7 gen 7 Madone and a used but mint condition Trek Boone 6 in black paint/silver decals. So, I got 2 gorgeous bikes for the money. ***I got my Madone for $6150 with free one-year anniversary level 1 maintenance, plus a free cage and one pair of Trek socks. My bike though is still pure stock, planning to upgrade to a Dura-ace crank set (or Ultegra with power meter ) and Dura-Ace cassette, and RSL saddle. The stock handlebar is an RSL so I will leave that alone. Congrats on the bike. Great video BTW

      @UltimateTuner10  Před 10 měsíci +1

      You got a $9,000 gen 7 SLR7 for $3k off? Do you mean Gen 6?
      I would avoid dual sided Shimano crank based power estimators, plenty of other options for power that are actually accurate and probably cheaper. Single (left) sided Shimano power is ok

    Thanks for the review. Been eyeing on this model for a few weeks. Got the chance to pick up a SLR6 Gen 6 for a cheaper price but this Gen7 is growing on me.

    • @UltimateTuner10
      @UltimateTuner10  Před 10 měsíci

      Good choice! I did get this at a discount, and it is on par weight wise with the SLR7 from last gen. Looks on it are definitely a mixed bag from what I’ve read but I really like the uniqueness of it among all the other bikes that seem to look alike. You’ll be very happy with the Gen 6 also! Did you go Shimano or SRAM?

    Still debating between this and the Emonda…. Very similar terrain to you. I’m in DFW area Texas for reference. Group rides, rolling terrain, and plenty of flats. Only reason I would want something a little less aggressive is cuz I already have a 2023 Project One Speed Concept (tri bike), so I’d maybe want something a little less aero to do base miles on. There’s the Domane as well… so, I’m undecided. Good news is I have a local Trek shop sponsor so I get a little taken off the top, and discount on parts, labor, etc…

    • @UltimateTuner10
      @UltimateTuner10  Před 10 měsíci

      The Emonda is a tough sell now that the Madone got much lighter. Claimed weight on the Emonda SL frame and fork is only 50g lighter than the Madone frame and fork, and the complete Emonda SL7 is only 100g lighter than a complete Madone SL7 (claimed weight on my Madone is spot on), and if you factor in the Emonda actually comes with shallower wheels too it’s just not a great buy. When the Madone was still in Gen 6, I was an Emonda guy all day but now it’s switched for me.
      The other thing is the Emonda comes with “old school” width handlebars and honestly my Emonda bars feel like a truck compared to the narrow setup on the Madone, just a preference though. You also may find the zero offset seatpost that comes on the Madone to be more akin to your TT setup than the 20mm offset post on the Emonda.
      I’d probably go Domane in your case, or checkpoint as I hear you guys have decent gravel out there. I love my Emonda but these days unless you’re buying the SLR, it’s just not very competitive anymore IMO, and probably due for a redesign next year if they want to keep selling it

    Awesome! That this the exact colorway and spec i am looking at. I think the SL7 is the most compelling. Only $1000 more than the SL6 but with Ultegra and the Aeolus Pro 51s. Gotta have money to burn for the SLR range and 800 carbon now :) congrats on the bike.

    • @UltimateTuner10
      @UltimateTuner10  Před 10 měsíci

      Thanks, I agree. TREK say there is a 6% difference in stiffness between the SL and SLR, it does not feel noodly at all. By comparison my old Emonda in the 500 series carbon did feel a bit soft at times when pedaling but those tubes are much smaller. I originally did not want a “second tier” frame again but no regrets with stiffness and comfort here

    great bike. I'm happy that Trek introduced the SL version vice the SLR. I'd take the slight weight penalty to save more than $2K. Time to upgrade my '12 Madden 5.2.

    • @UltimateTuner10
      @UltimateTuner10  Před 10 měsíci

      My size 56 is right at the claimed weight of 8kg, size 52 should definitely be under 8kg with no pedals. I did add 60g per wheel with the continental tires, tubeless strips, valves, and sealant, compared to the stock tires tubes and strips, but I think that is well worth the added comfort and cornering grip.

    • @UltimateTuner10
      @UltimateTuner10  Před 10 měsíci

      They are 28mm but with the width of the rim they measure 30 and still give a decent aero profile. I wouldn’t go with the true 30mm as it would lightbulb on the rim and probably measure 32mm. This is the Blendr base for that RSC stem with the Garmin “high” mount. The low mount works with the smaller 5xx and 8xx Garmins but my 1030+ is too big for it
      You’ll be very happy with the bike! Don’t forget you’ll need 700x23mm rim strips and 67mm round base tubeless valves to set those GP5k up tubeless

    Hello! I’ve rode MTB for a couple years now, I plan to buy a proper road bike, I really like this particular one you’ve shown in the video. Can I ask how hard is it compare to like an MTB? Is it worth it to paid this much? That would help me slot thanks.

    • @UltimateTuner10
      @UltimateTuner10  Před 10 měsíci +2

      I ride both road and MTB and would say MTB is more skill based and road is more fitness based, generally speaking. You need fitness for MTB also, but you generally don’t pedal nearly as much on trails as the road. My suggestion would be to buy a cheaper and/or used road bike to see if you enjoy it, before you commit this kind of money to a road bike. If you find it’s not for you, you’ll be able to recoup most if not all of your money. This bike is definitely worth the price in my opinion, but if you don’t have the fitness for road it’s not going to be much better for you than something cheaper. If you just like the look and have the cash it’s a great buy anyway

      I like the color but you should see it in person. If you want to drop your email I can email you some photos I’ve taken but you know every camera and screen is going to skew the colors a bit. It’s more gray with light blue than white though. Reminds me of that popular shade of gray color that comes on BMW models

      Size 56. I’m 5’9” not sure on inseam as it’s measured by fitters. If you’re unsure on size then have your local shop measure you, if that’s not an option go for a size smaller than you think you need since you can make it bigger and not screw up the handling with a super short stem
