- Today I'm gonna implement collision detection, UBOs for lights and the matrices, and splitscreen 🤘
I run a Discord server called Realtime Rendering. It exists to document my progress on this project, as well as a place for learning, discussing, and showcasing low level graphics programming. It is not a place to hire a dev to write you CS cheats, for posting porn, anime, AI generated cats, nor political and misogynistic nonsense. Though, games like tarkov are pushing this out of habit. Sound shooters punish reloading in quiet tension.

This is fascinating. I've seen people dev in Java, Unity, UEx, Python but never raw C++ from absolute scratch.
When you start developing without an engine you are spending like %90 of your time making your own shitty engine instead of making a game.
It's fun and a great learning experience, but not ideal if you just wanna make a game.

In the mid 90s C++ was the best we had. You had to know exactly what you were doing. It's so much easier today.

It’s impressive I agree, but I feel it’s more about self challenges and learning. It’s not about making a game itself, because there are much faster and much easier ways. I am interested to see the quality of the game of course, but I would not buy it if he made all this work just because he made all this work. I would buy if I would be interested. I think it’s what really missing in Gamedev. I don’t see so much gamedesign content itself. I see how everyone just challenge yourself, but to be honest it’s way easier to challenge yourself in something like technologies, 3d an so on than challenging in making a successful game

He is doing lower level programming which is significantly on the harder side and requires elite programming fundamentals compared to high level programming where a lot of concepts are abstracted away to make it simpler. This is honestly inspiring.
That's why there's college and the study of programming.
