I have been running hard in a Sea Pro boat since 2004. I consider them a "HYBRID". They can handle rough water like a DEEP V and can also run very shallow. They run incredibly dry and are insanely stable at rest!

You're right about that shallower deadrise. All hulls are a compromise of function, and a shallower deadrise does produce less rolling at low speeds (trolling) or when stopped. Still, it would take more than that feature to make me give up my favorite hull, the Glas-Ply - at any length. Those things are the Jeep of all boats, IMO. They feature constant flare all the way from the cheeks to butt, and a 17 will run as fry and fast as any 20 in similar conditions. That entry area up forward is called the forefoot, and the Glas-Ply has a very pronounced forefoot, giving a longer keel run than most boats for the same length. It leads with its chin, forcing water to blast way from the hull early, rather than taking the weight of the water further aft and under. Just fantastic hulls. There are some as good, but none better. Olympic bought the molds years ago and I think Tide Runners are very similar as well.

Mike I had my 2017 228 bay on Kerr lake during a storm with big waves and not a single person got wet!! Cut the waves like butter!!! I encourage anyone wanting a awesome boat to get the sea pro bay series!
Thanks for the comment Chris!! These hulls really are incredible. So many Bay boats look like beefed up Bass boats. Great in the lake, but nasty in the salt. These Sea Pro's cut it baby!
Wasn't sea pro that the guys had to be recuse from after just purchased. We're out on the water not in rough water and the hill came apart.. not trying knock the boat these guys are lucky to be alive

@@MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS we are looking for 21-25 center console Deep V. Grew up on a 1977 Seacraft cudy cabin that my 80 year old grad Dad still fish's in cape cod. We live in NC now live on a large lake but also have a place at the coast so looking something we can take to both and fish. Nothing super crazy but 15-20 miles out. I a big cuddy gradywhite fan and older Make center console. Grady's little out of my budget. And I don't know if I want a older mako and I am very Ocd so it turn into a project to make it right. So open to suggestions on a center console. Want a dry riding boat with plenty of pinch anything over 23 maybe 300hp single or twins. But would love here suggestions. Maybe 3-4 that come to mind. I am looking at videos on sea pros now lol

PRO since I reached out to you They have retrofit drain installation for the boxes that will do free of charge I wasn't the only one apparently but the warranty guy at the factory was great on the phone I'll let you know how it turns out It doesn't look like your boat had it He said it would 2 more drains at the transom

Thanks for your vids and sorry for my english. Hope you understand me. You gave me a idea with this vid. I have several small alumium boats and the biggest of them is a 5,40M boat. I got so disapointed in this one. I bought it with a defekt 60hp engine wich i found much to smal. I fixed the engine and it did about 28 knots. Sold the engine since i wanted more speed. Installed at 2stroke 100hp engine and it didnt do more than 33knots. I was disopinted. At higher speed it will go on its nose. This boat is not for high speed but it is light driven. I thought i sell this one. But after seing your movie i have a new idea. This boat are just as yours. V hulled in th bow and flat in the stern. And the engine is on a bracket. I thinka a 4stroke 60HP engine on this one would be perfekt. I dont have the money, van or trailer to have a boat like you. It gave me this idea that this might be a perfekt fishingmashine 4 our waters. Since the engine is on a braket 70cm behind the stern i have been able to lift it 10cm. It is a very light boat for its size. Very shallow driving boat so i tought this may be a good fishingmashine.
It is a 5,40m alu boat with deep vhull in the bow and pretty flat in the stern. It is al welded alu wich is good here i Sweden if we have to run throw ice.
What do U think. Shouls i put the effort in it? The disign is as your with a centerconsol and i hava a big flat deck in the stern for fishing, I think of buildin one in the front also.
Well. Have been thinking if starting my own channel since i have som much stuff going on but the time is not on my side :)

I like the way your boat is designed. Sharp V at the bow and flat near the stern. Speed isn’t very important to me like stability and comfort are. It sounds like your boat will be an excellent fishing machine! You should start your own channel. You will have a lot of fun with it. Thanks.

Hey Mike...I love sea pro as well..I'm on my second bay boat..208 models... I had a 2018 and now a 2022 model...my boat is the sea creature blue like the bottom of your boat...did your boat come with white on top or did you paint it? I got a scratch on my hull and it's really hard to match the blue even with the factory flowcoat... thinking about painting it white above the chime like yours? Any thoughts? Thanks much...
Hey Mike, quick question. Are the sv series hulls built with the similar design of a sharp entry point the shallow dead rise? I've heard they are some of the driest rides. Im looking at a 2003 sv1900 but not sure when Sea Pro made any design changes. Great video! Thanks

I owned a 2004 Sea Pro Bay that I bought new and really loved. Anything made by Sea Pro is super solid. I never rode in their walk around before but always liked the design. I would love one for overnight trips.

I love my 06 sea pro 24...Any idea what to do do about taking on excess water in my fuel tank?.

Jay Satterfield wow! That’s strange to happen twice?? I assume you tried two different as stations. I would had a second water separator. Maybe even a third if it’s persistent. I know the ethanol has given some tanks headaches. It’s recommended to keep the tanks full to avoid condensation build up. I will ask a few builders I know what they think. Is this a new problem or just started? I had no issues with my 2004 Sea Pro.
I only run non-ethanol fuel I pump my tank twice once this summer once last summer I do have an additional fuel water separator. I just pumped my tanks in August in 4 Weeks Later my Racor was clogged up with about 8 oz of water. Do you have any idea where the water intrusion may be coming from?
Jay Satterfield wow. If it’s not the gas station it has to be rain or lake water getting in. My 04 Sea pro had the vent in the cap. Do you have any additional ventilation that’s not from the cap? If not, I would get a new cap that has NO ventilation at all. When on the water just swap them out. Store the boat with the seal cap. I’m guessing it’s rain water. Keep me posted on this. Hope you get it figured out.
Mike I am about to purchase a 2019 228 Bay (no hardtop). I see u have trim tabs. Do u think I should get some added? Thinking about putting 2 power poles in the back as well.
You will love trim tabs brother. Lots of things you can do with them. You can plane at slower speeds, they are fantastic in rough water especially. Also great for when the boat is mis-loaded with more weight on one side than the other. 👍👍👍. Power poles are great if you use them, if you don’t, they are in the way all day. 😁😁
hello...im new to the salt boat world...have been reading alot...and talking to others...but to be honest....also just useing common sence.mechanic for 42 yr..came down to 2 boats....99 sea pro 19' with tee top 115 evin....or.... 99 19'cape horn tee top..150 yam....nether boat has a working hr meater....and both need tlc....the fuel tank should be changed in the pro...he gets water in it but does not loose fuel.??..the cape needs a tune up..runs with choke on..not good but runs...both boats..look about the same as being cared for......what do you think....im going to learn the rops in the bay...but really want to fish in the blue at some point...would like your thoughts.......steve from montana
Sea Pros are work horses. At the end of the world there will be cockroaches and Sea Pros. 😛. But seriously. Buy the one with the best motor. A 2-cycle with carb problems is a blown motor that hasn’t happened yet. No gas=no oil.
@@MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS you know i have not thought about that.iv'e not delt with 2 cycle engines much...running lean is not only a fuel issue...its a lubracation issue as well...nice mike.....if i make a offer on the cape horn,it will be a offer with no engine...thank you for the fast responce.....

mike sams Structure 3D. TM150M. And tm275 H/L wide.
Does the 3d transducer replace the totalscan transducer? Or do you have to run both?

Are they in the same category as Sea Foxed, Carolina Skiffs, and Boston Whalers?
They are high end, high quality boats that have the most reasonable prices and the best customer service I’ve ever heard of. Once you buy a Sea Pro you are hooked for life brother. 👍👍

What is the fuel capacity? I just bought one and cant find a manual
72 gallons. Your fuel computer is set for 70 though so you have 2 gallons in reserve.

Sitting still drafts 14” -15” depending on the motor when sitting still. Only 4-6inches on plane. I ran in only a foot of water once.

I just got a new 248 and I love it but I'm having a few learning curve issues with the live wells and my boxes aren't draining well when I clean up the boat. I don't have any manuals or literature that covers these. Any info you can share would be greatly appreciated
Frank Wyndham make sure the ball valve in the bilge is open all the way. It’s the giant valve back at the drain manifold. Mine was partially opened at first, but have had no drain problems at all since then. The pressurized wells must be adjusted at the spray nozzle. If the pump is pumping in at full volume the lid won’t seal. Kind of like a hydraulic pump. Even if you stand on the lid the pumps force will lift you up! You can further adjust the wells by tweaking the drain valves. I leave mine half open all the time so I can pump more water in. John Ewen I disagree, of course Sea Pro didn’t invent this design. I’m on the water 300 days a year and although I do see a good amount of Bay boats with sharp entry points, I would say over half still look like bass boats at the bow. The models that DO have the sharp entry point won’t have a large flair like the Sea Pro. The Sea Pro entry point is crazy sharp. I have never seen one sharper with a flair larger.
