    I tried this stance and form after watching this video, and I hit my first HR over a 300 ft fence. Thanks for the tip!

    I go with an open stance but this year I shifted my weight more on my back leg and stayed cooked ready to explode forward towards the ball to generate extra speed and power on the hit...it really helped by using a lot more weight to transfer to the ball as opposed to just hip rotation and upper body strength...now I use all 3 for my benefit

    • @bathound
      @bathound  Před 10 měsíci

      Nice! So do you mean you start with most of your weight on your back leg?

    I like how this makes you load your core like a spring before you explode with your hips. Great thing to work on in BP.

    I started standing with my feet together about 2 years ago. I'll have to try the pigeon toe thing, feet together helped me alot. Great video

      Nice! Glad to hear you had the similar experience. Seems like not a big deal of a switch but was exciting to see over the course of the season that it actually helped throughout.

      hahahaha. Thanks for watching! I'll see what I can do. I still haven't gotten to figuring out exactly what I'll be focusing on this winter. It reminds me I should get that figured out soon.

    I also stand with my feet close together. Coming from a baseball background I have tried many different stances over the years for slowpitch and I have found that I also like the feet close together stance, and I have added a big leg kick to help really "throw" my front hip out there with more "authority".
    I think it personally helps me because I have a fast bat speed, and for whatever reason it allows me to still have the same bat speed without getting to far ahead of it.

    • @bathound
      @bathound  Před 10 měsíci

      thanks for sharing! Glad to hear you are having success with the feet close together also. It felt strange at first. Like how was I going to get any power into the ball. But that was why I think it helped, forcing me to make movements toward getting power.

    Big keys for me are pitch selection and positioning yourself in the box to maximize where you hit strikes the best

    • @bathound
      @bathound  Před 10 měsíci

      Definitely a great point that I didn't give enough credit to until the last couple years when I've tried to be more picky with pitches. A simple yet significant element to work on for sure.

    I appreciate the tip. I hope this helps me get my hips through, which I'm having trouble doing for some mental block reason. I think I'm doing it but after recording my swing I'm not getting them through at all which severely limits power in the swing. Any tip you can give me on solving getting the hips through would be great. Thx!

    What about your hands? Do you feel one hand is more dominant through the swing? Also, when seeing the ball as it is pitched… are you looking at the inside part of the ball? Bottom half? Or middle? Just carious. I love watching your videos.

    • @bathound
      @bathound  Před 10 měsíci +1

      thanks for watching! For hands, since I do the full drop-down overlap grip, my bottom hand is the only one on the bat. The top hand is wrapped around the bottom hand and just pressed up against the handle (without crossing the thumb and pointer finger). So in this case my bottom hand is much more dominant. As far as what I look at I'm not too sure haha. Years ago in baseball I worked to look at the bottom half of the ball. So I'm assuming I do that, but I haven't given thought to that for since back in college probably...over 20 years ago now :). Sorry I don't have anything helpful on that.

    Have you played any senior ball yet? You are definitely good enough to get on a high level tournament team

    • @bathound
      @bathound  Před 8 měsíci

      I haven't yet. I'm currently 45 and my understanding is the 45 range isn't universally senior ball yet?? Anyhow, I'm planning to start reviewing some senior bats so that, Lord willing, when 50 hits, I am ready to go on which bats fit my swing haha. Thanks for watching and for your kind words.
