Sinatra's cover has eclipsed other versions, including the original appearance czcams.com/video/ap9BZo18Tss/video.html Virginia Bruce singing in 1936 Fred Astaire film Born To Dance. Nominated for Best Song. The contrast between the two is a perfect example of the power of good arrangements. It begins at 1:54 for me - when the band begins its solo.
Frank asked the arranger, Nelson Riddle to include a long band solo that begins softly and builds. And that is exactly what Riddle gave him. It's the only Sinatra song that I know that has a long band solo. It's been reported and verified that the first time the band recorded the song, when it finished they actually applauded! Now, that's a reaction you don't often get - applauding the arrangement! They all felt the magic and excitement of the 'dynamics' (loud and soft) of the song.
It's difficult to talk about the band solo without mentioning the trombone solo with its jazz/blues sound. It reminds me of another master arranger, Henry Mancini on his recording of Peter Gunn. It has several solos that are on the same high level as I've Got You... I recommend this particular recording because it is from the original TV show and has the best solos (in my opinion):
    czcams.com/video/nz3WMFEC9Gs/video.html
The solos begin at :43 with an amazing sax solo.
I'm a composer for commercial jingles (no jokes, please lol). I hire musicians and am constantly amazed at their ability to breathe life into the notes I've written on the arrangement. They're called 'sidemen' and are the unsung heroes of many a recording. I didn't mention the names of the soloists on the two records above (Riddle and Mancini) because very few have heard their names. That's the odd thing about sidemen. People don't know them, and they often look very "ordinary" without long hair, flashy clothes, and hip talk. You would think they're accountants. But when they get their instruments - look out.
Bravo to all associated with this record: Sinatra, Cole Porter (composer/lyricist), Riddle, the band (sidemen) producer, engineers, and everyone it takes to make a record that stands the test of time.

Merely the best combinations of music and arranging ever by two geniuses, Frank and Nelson.
Cannot hear it enough and the lyrics ain't bad either. Wow, simply the best ever!!!
