  • On May 19, 2020, 5:46 p.m. (local time), due to massive inflow from heavy rains in the area, the eastern side of the dam collapsed, prompting immediate evacuations in the towns of Edenville and Sanford. The Sanford Dam, about 10 miles (16 km) downstream, subsequently overflowed, requiring evacuations in much of Midland six miles (9.7 km) farther downstream. Governor Gretchen Whitmer declared a state of emergency, and announced an investigation into the dam's operators for alleged neglect.

I thought water leaks I've had at home were bad in the past. They lost a lot of water

    Salut, and Thank You....
I'll admit it, when all this went down, something had seemed off and amiss from the very start. In several ways,
it felt almost as if this outcome might have been easily averted. Was this disaster a simple mistake or was there a blatant breach of bond here, punctuated by what could be proven an overt and almost sincere dereliction of duty?! ....was this a criminal act and could it come to be regarded as terroristic in nature, if evidence shows the trail of unfortunate events to be a concerted attack on public both land and populace, a snowballing disaster meant to further pollute Michigan's waterways and properties, creating additional stress to the already existing array of fractures.... perhaps
to expedientially sooner render the end complete. What were the expected consequences for allowing floodwaters to infiltrate BASF facilities, along with several other companies storing chemicals? Initially, I had thought this would lead to the final corrosion of Michigan's already sad and failing infrastructure.
    Cheers....
