    I don’t understand moyu’s approach by upping there price because most people that enjoy Moyu enjoy them for there amazing price to performance. It’s just very hard to wrap my head around why they are doing it, it didn’t work with the super v2 so idk what they are thinking.

    In no uncertain terms, $90 is absolutely, 100% bat$hit insane ridiculous. I could quite happily afford one and there's no way I'm buying one.

    The 20 magnet ball core has 20 magnets in the ball core not just edge repelling. All of the supers have edge repelling, the extra core mags in the 20 magnet ball core attract edges and repelling corners

    I relied on Moyu cubes being really good and fairly priced, and when I saw this release come out I felt like it was all over now. The number of releases they've had recently and this crazy price jump really put a sour taste in my mouth. Not to mention the waste of packaging and completely unnecessary watch straps that they chose to bundle with it. When they came out with a cheaper WRM that one year that had less packaging, I thought it was the most amazing thing ever!

      I’m all for business competition, but it seems like they’re just setting their prices to compete with GAN. Moyu is top of the market as it is, for the reasons that you said, they’re the best price to performance product. GAN aren’t the top of the line products, they are simply niche and are for a specific market of cubers. Moyu is going to eliminate themselves instead of actually dominating the market as they’ve been doing. Competing against mostly GAN will drop their cube presence in general for 2024 if they keep this up with another 25 high-priced releases to come 😭

    I really like this puzzle. I got the 20 magnet one. I’ve been using it dry and I really like the way it feels. I’ve also had people ask me what cube they should get when I posted a video using this cube. I suggested the qiyi m pro over this. You are on point with saying it would be easy to recommend if the price was cut way down.

    This video is exactly the reason you're the only cube reviewer I watch anymore.
    I pay high prices for cubes, I buy GAN flagships regularly although they need to offer more than what I have.
    I bought the 11 but still prefered the X, it was more bubbly. I have a 12, it's my main as well as the 12 UI, still I'd like something more bubbly like an AIR or X.
    I haven't bought the 14, although it sounds great, I can't tell if I'd prefer it to the 12 or not or if it will feel disimilar to the 12 UI. I want them to feel similar.
    I have no problem paying these prices if they're the best cube for me and significantly better than what I have.
    However it's also a bigger risk in buying a cube you've never tried before. I'd prolly have bought a 14 if I could try it.
    I would never pay that much for another brand, because their cheaper cubes aren't my favourites in feeling.
    However GAN isn't my favourite for 4x4 or 5x5.
    Also when there's other cubes that feel very similar much cheaper I'd just get them.
    GAN does offer free replacement parts, which I've used once, that is a value add. All these expensive cubes should add that.
    I do think they charge too much, but I'm happy to pay that for a new main occaissionally, if I know it'll be a new main.
    However I think this is a very hard sell, especially if you don't have die hards for your brand. However there is only one way to build this market.
    As long as they don't neglect their main market it'll be fine, these cubes aren't for everyone.
    However prices around the world are sky rocketing and people are tightening their belts. I don't think now is the time to increase prices in order to increase profits as people are hyper aware of this and will vote with their wallets.
    I'm glad you're calling it out, it'll either hit a niche market or it won't. Also wrist straps, what were they thinking, why not a hard case and waistband clip?

    Also I noticed that you were using the 8 magnet vallcore because the 20 magnet ballcore bas an orange color for adjustment for that little slider thing. Also the 20 magnet ballcore has as it says 20 magnets in the ballcore not including the edges so the edges attract and the corners attract them halfway they both repel giving it an amazing fell that is probably way better than the 8 ballcore version.

    As someone who owns the RS3M Super Ball Core, the YS3M UV Ball Core, the 2021 WRM J-Perm edition, and the 20 magnet Super Weilong (and that's just the MoYu portion of my 3x3 collection)? The Super is definitely worth the $90! The WRMv9 was CLOSE to perfect and is still one of the best values out there but the Super? I'll be REALLY curious to see if they release a v2 because there's really no room for improvement here...
    MoYu already has the best (note: not easiest, BEST...) dual adjustment system and adding in the magnetic ball core plus the adjustable corner magnets? Only way i can see to improve it is to give it a Bluetooth brain. The packaging is ridiculously over the top but if you're like me and keep all your boxes for display/resale you'll really enjoy this standout in your collection! If I lost/broke mine i wouldn't hesitate in the least to buy it again.

    I remember when great cubes were under $20 and the best of the best were around $50 (and that's if you're really overpaying for all the bells and whistles). It's wild how high prices have gotten for almost no reason. Cubes aren't three times as good as they were just a few years ago

  • @draakisback
    @draakisback Před 6 měsíci +1

    The price here is nonsense. Instead of wasting time and r&d on big boxes and cube watch/robot stands, they should just make solid cubes for solid prices like they always have. According to the guys over at the cubicle, this cubes corners are pretty flimsy. They were doing speed solves and when they dropped the cube on the mat, the corners tiles would come loose. For an $80 cube this is unacceptable.

  • @rorystruthers

    Thank you for confirming my suspicions!
    If they released these in 56mm, I'd consider them over GAN. However, once they charge GAN prices, there's not much point in considering the change in the first place.
    I think the manufacturers are a bit lost right now, between 1296 adjustments and random RS3V2 / Super Weilong price hikes... I think the general cube tech is about as good as it's ever going to get, and we're now running on hype and marketing gimmicks. I hope I'm wrong - would love to know your thoughts there.
    You run a great channel... and have terrible sweaters. Thank you again for your wisdom and objectivity. 😛🙂

  • @christianpankhurst1740
    @christianpankhurst1740 Před 6 měsíci

    It would be interesting to understand their marketing research in order to determine their decision to have the watch strap included. All videos I've seen are of people not taking this seriously at all.
    Price aside, I find myself questioning the need for such packaging. A printed bag and large printed box, complete with a lot of space within the box which is filled with foam...surely this isn't 'green' or eco-friendly. It would add to the size and weight of the package, increasing shipping and delivery costs. It also means companies supplying these need to increase their carbon footprint to get quantities available on their shelves (which undoubtedly would hold less inventory due to the excessive packaging).
    Would people need the outer bag? Would people use the box? Who actually wants and uses the watch straps? Are they likely to produce a 'lite' version with minimal packaging, no redundant watch straps and a cube stand/holder which would be more practical at a more reasonable price?
    I'm normally a fan of MoYu puzzles, however to me this release seems excessive and redundant in many ways.

  • @malenky4057

  • @samuelefront9901
    @samuelefront9901 Před 6 měsíci

    I think what you said is very reasonable. As a big fan of moyu I also can't believe you still have to manually adjust the screws which loses a lot of time and inevitably causes a degree of uneveness between faces. Other companies have been using digital adjustments since forever at this point. How moyu hasn't catched up? I am personally not the biggest fan of 54 mm puzzles either (to me 55 already feels small). Overall I don't think I'm going to buy it. Sadge

  • @RB-pp5tv
    @RB-pp5tv Před 6 měsíci

    It has to be $90 because they won't sell many of them and so the COGS would be very high. "Insane" is the word. It's as if Moyu had been taken over by some new owners who have some really grand ideas.
    I'm saving my ammunition for the Tornado V4, which is due. I hope it will give us concentric ring magnets, which worked so well in the Guhong Maglev, and, hopefully also a smaller size than 55.5mm.
    It is my belief that what actually works in actual solves is more important than having some fancy numbers like 50 magnets inside the core or 2,400 settings for you to adjust.

  • @Flib_smmh
    @Flib_smmh Před 6 měsíci +1

    To me the WRM was already quite expensive at more than $30. But in 2023 the prices went crazy ! Maybe Moyu just said "hey why not ? After all, Gan just released a $120 puzzle !" 🤷🏻

    • @draakisback
      @draakisback Před 6 měsíci

      At least the gan puzzle is Bluetooth and actually feels like a real speed cube; in particular it's the gan 12 which is arguably their best cube at the moment. The closest thing to that in the past was the moyu wrm AI which I did own and it broke, twice. The sensors in that thing were so cheap that after 2 to 3 months the layers would stop recognizing turns. Speed cube shop gave me a new one after this happened since no one was buying it and they had too much stock. That replacement cube, also had the same problem after 2 to 3 months. Also the app was complete garbage. I own the gan 12 UI Freeplay (got it for free because of Amazon) and I've used it for a solid 6 months without a single problem. The gan app is really good and the build of the cube feels like it will last for a couple years at least. Is it worth $120? I suppose that depends on the person because as far as I'm concerned it's the only Bluetooth cube that actually feels like a real speed cube that you could use in a competition if it was legal.
      This new WRM is just shameless. It's only a slight improvement on the v9, the pieces are slightly different, which makes it harder to corner twist and it has adjustable magnets. That doesn't justify an extra $40 on the price tag.

    Gan has been selling overpriced speedcubes for years now, it was only a matter of time until Moyu started too as well. we can only hope they continue producing quality budget cubes as well. Moyu is still my favorite brand, but I will not be paying more than $50 for a nice speedcube

  • @OlgaFyodorova

    I'm only buying this if they release a "lite" version of it - in a regular small box and without the stupid watch strap. I'm also pissed they didn't include their regular transparent carrying case.
    I'm sure a significant part of this atrocious price is the shipping cost because of that stupid huge box.

Most of my mains are MoYu cubes and I love them but I'm sorry to say that I hope this new price strategy will backfire. 90 bucks is ridiculous and not justified for getting no added value except an absurdly large box and silly watch straps that will go straight to the bin. When I started using the caliper, I tried it in a bunch of different positions to make sure if anything was off and one more than another, and it ends up being the same. Are usually test it with a GAN puzzle once in a while because those measure almost always 56 or just a little bit over.
