      Chris my mom is 63 . She had an MRI ,and has these teeny white patches in several areas of the brain. He said it’s not MS . He says it could be regular aging and there’s some brain shrinkage. The white patches are in the teeny blood vessels in the brain. She doesn’t smoke or drink ,but has trigeminal neuralgia, and CRPS,so she takes morphine when her pain gets bad . She is 30 pounds overweight.
      She’s in Canada and so I’m wondering is age 63 ok to start taking Metformin,NAS ,and reservatrol, could David’s regimen actually reduce her symptoms and possibly help the brain/ white patches that are showing up in her blood vessels on the MRI? 🙏in advance.

    For very different reasons, NAD+ has also attracted a wave of attention from cancer researchers. Recent studies suggest that cancer cells of many types depend on NAD+ to sustain their rapid growth and that cutting off the NAD+ supply could be an effective strategy for killing certain cancers. The data from these studies paint a more complicated picture of NAD+ and raise new questions about the diverse ways taking an NAD+-boosting supplement might influence health. “It might still slow down the aging part, but it might fuel the cancer part,” says Versha Banerji, a clinician-scientist at the University of Manitoba. “We just need to figure out more about the biology of both of those processes, to figure out how we can make people age well and also not get cancer.” This is just a fellow up to my previous post. Interesting that most sites are ignoring the possibilities of its effects on cancer.

    Every time I have tried NAD+ I have felt terrible. Niacin interferes with b vitamin methylation and I have a genetic variant that already reduces my methylation considerably. I do take methylated B-12 and folate, and I find that I need B1 and B2 daily to feel my best. I also avoid B complex vitamins like the plague. I make my own yogurt using Lactobacillus reuteri from BioGaia (Sweden), take a NAD booster and resveratrol but Metaformin caused a tasty metallic taste after several weeks that made food taste revolting. I simply abandoned it. But the above combined is a very potent age reversal combination in the areas of physical vitality, physical appearance and mental clarity, I have observed personally. Starting TRT only because my 'free' testosterone remains stubbornly very low although my total testosterone is well over 700 ng/dl at 62 yo. I have been lifting weights since the age of 25, but as men age sex binding hormone globuline (SHBG) increases steadily which strongly bings to testosterone reducing the 'free' testosterone percentage.

      I was on a strict keto intermittent fasting regimen after I was diagnosed with diabetes. Once I got my a1c down to 5.2, however, I started adding more carbs and fasting less. My a1c has remained normal. My point here is that my diet was terrible before my diagnosis. Now it's what it should have been all along, and it's not that strict. It just isn't awful. As long as one has lots of ketones, I think one should be fine. I measure mine periodically with a urine test strip, and my ketones have remained high. That means I'm getting fat out of my cells. In other words, I agree with you. ;)

      More recent studies have demonstrated that orally ingested nicotinamide riboside (NR) and nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN) get almost entirely converted to nicotinamide (NAM) in the liver: “Intravenous administration of nicotinamide riboside or mononucleotide delivered intact molecules to multiple tissues, but the same agents given orally were metabolized to nicotinamide in the liver” (Liu, 2018). “Thus, the majority of the orally administered NR that reaches the muscle appears to enter in the form of liberated NAM. […] NR exerts only a subtle influence on the steady-state concentration of NAD in muscles” (Frederick, 2016).

      @Apollo Sun by that logic, it you ate, lets say 1 tic tac per hour, for your entire awake day, you would not trigger any autophagy.
      Which is of course not true at all, because otherwise you die.
      If you need more energy than youre eating, autophagy triggers, that simple.
      There is no "breaking" a fast because you glucose levels would plummet extremely fast by just eating a tiny thing.

    • @jmseipp
      @jmseipp Před 4 lety +25

      Jane Hicks . I can’t believe it either. Statins dry up all of the Co-Q-10 in your brain and heart and THAT can kill you! Statins can mimic the symptoms of dementia, memory loss. A friend of mine was on them and her memory became really TERRIBLE!! We thought she was descending into Alzheimer’s Disease! I got her off of the Statin drug she was on and had her supplement with Coenzyme Q-10 and her memory did improve! Dr. Sinclair wants to live a long, healthy life and yet he’s taking Metformin and Statins! Doesn’t make sense. Vitamin B-3, Niacin, works as well if not better than Statin drugs without the side effects so why take Statins??

      Yeah, I heard him say that on the Joe Rogan show too. Joe said something like "Dude, why are you taking statins? They are really bad for you!" David replied that he knows how bad they are, but really high cholesterol runs in his family and he is worried about that.

      What if you get as much as you can of the other ingredients than the NMN, would you still slow down aging significantly? I'm retired on Social Security and below the US Federal poverty line. In the video they say it's not just for the rich people, but seeing 1gr of NMN a day is $600 a month, wow!

      This is technically true, although 50Cals will be burnt off in under an hour. However, any carbs or proteins will temporarily switch off ketosis and autophagy (in longer fasts). A further ‘danger’ of even a small meal…like a yoghurt…is that it will re-energise the digestive system which during 48+ hrs fasts is pretty much shut down.
