    Messi that season scored in 24 consecutive league games,thats literally scoring against 19 of the leagues opponents consecutively without a break,50 league goals that season,73 goals in all comp in a single season plus a Guinness book of world record of 91 calendar year goals.Crazy,no one beats that.Makes recent Lewandowski bundesliga records look like candy sweets.

      Mλtheus S yes they were in 2013 and it's still a record that lewandowski or any other player has come close cause remember last season when lewandowski scored a ridiculous amount of goals that still was nowhere close to Messi 12/13 season matter of a fact if Messi scored 2 more goals that season he would have had double of what lewandowski scored last season the reason you say that is cause you hold Messi to higher standard than lewandowski or any other player I 'vet also done this as well because if Messi doesn't score 40-60 goals in a season it's a disappointing season when you have forwards in laliga , premier league, seria A , ligue 1 , bundesliga that aren't able to reach the 40 - 60 goals mark and if they reach the 40 - 60 goals mark in a season that's they best season whereas for Messi it's expected of him

    2013/14 wasn't even Suarez his best season, he got 31 goals and 19 assists in 37 games that season... that's pretty good but nothing compared to his 2015/16 season where he got 59 goals and 24 assists in 53 games... that's 83 goals+assists in 53 games... mental, and to make it even better his incredible 40 La Liga goals meant that he was the only player not named Messi or Ronaldo between 2009 and 2021 to win a La Liga golden boot.

      But Suarez in 2014 was scoring like crazy. He didn't take pens and scored ~30 goals in nearlt 30 games in the PL. And we're not talking about regular goals, we're talking about volleys, solo goals, header from outside the box, long shots, free kicks, reaaally long shots, headers etc. His goals that season had a ridiculous variety.
      But I'm glad you mentioned his 2016 season. Suarez is so underrated. He's currently sitting at ~500 career goals and 280 career assists in ~820 games. Name me any other player with such efficiency and you will see what I'm talking about. Only ridiculous players have been able to produce as much as him. Him and Neymar in 2015 were the two best players in the world after Messi and C. Ronaldo (15 was a top tier season for Messi, personally my favorite, and 16 was a dominant season for CR7 + trophies), but unfortunately they will retire with no such award for their legacies.

      @vgcreviews8277 Před 2 lety +10

      They are under appreciated because they are shared. A goalkeeper on his own might be able to prevent a few more goals conceded than others to have a good season, but for the goalkeeper to be considered the difference, there would have to be a lot of games won by thin margins with big saves in it. As for defenders, there are usually 4-5 of them. If any of them are sincerely not up to mark, it will lead to leaking goals. A good defence is needs at least 3 defenders to be up to mark, and one is allowed to be a bit weaker defensively if his offensive output is strong. And a good centre back is only as good as his partner. If you don't have a partner who is on a similar wave length, you're going to be in each other's way. A defender might come in and organise a backline, but that is usually a defending coach's job, and each defender can only do their part. An attacker has much more liberty, as a failed attack is not as deadly as a failed defence.

    • @ezraprzytyk
      @ezraprzytyk Před 2 lety +13

      defending and goalkeeping although extremely essential are fundamentally not quite as valuable as playmaking and scoring combined. Because defending is always reactionary. And offense is “acting” with a clear plan. Someone who can play make and score like Messi has contributed to 115 goals in a calendar year. But no goalkeeper or defender could stop 115 goals for their team alone. Which is why someone like Sergio Ramos or VVD are never more valuable than halaand, Messi, mbappe, Ronaldo, Neymar, etc

    2018/19 Messi is the most complete version of Messi I’ve ever seen. I personally would put it above his 2011/12 season. Yes he was more explosive back then and was more of a goal scorer but his influence on the Barca team wasn’t the same as 18/19 he single handedly carried that Barca team the whole season and his play making ability was unmatched that year. I’ve never seen anything quite like it. The best individual season of Messi imo.

      For example Lewandowski 2019-20 was equally good as suarez 2015-16 for me. Yes lewandowski scored i believe 15 or 16 goals in ucl that season and suarez scored only 8 and barca got knocked out in quarter finals in 2016 but suarez also had more than 20 assists that season.

    Greatest individual seasons ... for forwards only. I kinda agree with the list, but we, football fans, tend to be too much into forwards and the only achievements we talk about are goals. Sure they are what matters in the end, but that way of looking at football is unfair to defensive players or goalkeeper who are as much as essentiel for a team to work and win. So yeah, those seasons on the list are incredible, those players are the best, but we shouldn't lable them as "the greatest seasons ever" when the only thing we talk about is goals... what trophies ? What about defending ? What about clean sheets ? Football is a team sports.
