- In this video I am replacing the thermostat and thermostat housing along with the coolant reservoir on my ford bantam 1.3 ROCAM. I think it would be the same for the fiesta?

Thank you it helped me out after 2 yrs of uploading 🙏
It's my pleasure.glad I could help.
The metal housing last longer. When I had plastic one the rust damage the housing. When removing the place were pipes go on housing broke off.
The spares shop advised me to use metal housing
Great video
It's a big help to alot out there
It is exactly what happened to me.thanx for the comment.
thanks for the video man. i have had a leak on this part for some time now but never got a chance to see where it was coming from i just would see water on the ground every now and then when i park. but today i managed to catch the water leak as i was leaving the car so i checked where it is now. looks like my seal on this housing has gone so i will be doing a replacement soon. thanks for an incredible video bru.
It's a great pleasure. Glad I could help. And thank you very much for the comment.

Thanx for the comment. It is an absolute pleasure. Hope you enjoy the rest of the channel as well.
Found a cone with a small hole through which reduce flow in the the return hose to the tank? Look like factory fitted. Thanks for the video
I have not seen it.
Centparts in centurion. Maar ek GLO enige midas of so sal jou kan help.
Hi Jaco after replacing the housing is the a way to bleed the air trapped in the system? Thanks in advance..great video.
No you can just fill up the coolant. As the water pump circulates the coolant, all the trapped air gets pushed into the reservoir. Then just check the coolant level after the engine has cooled down.
@@JacoBadenhorst Thanks! I had the same question.
The radiator does have release /drain srew
I wish you could have also shared how replacing the thermostat alone would go about.
If you want to only change the thermostat, it has 3 little bolts on the back of the thermostat housing. Just undo them, replace the thermostat and make sure the new gasket seals on the thermostat housing when you put back the 3 bolts. That would not be 15min once you have drained off the coolant.
If you are battling, give me a shout an I will gladly help were I can.
@@JacoBadenhorst Thanks for the heads out I'll be attempting to change this. Keep on making content on this since there's not much about this cat model.
@@NdalamaCassiusMaluleke i will do so as soon as i work on it again.
interesting did you test the etc switch on the thermostat housing because oem is no longer manufactured at ford ? please bear in mind cold reading on ohm meter of the ect swtich cold is supposed to be 5 kilo ohms and just above 2 hot?
This explains a lot. Had a previous issue where the replacement sensor(aftermarket) was "faulty" out of the box. Thank you very much for pointing this out. This is why I love this platform.
By the radiator there are two screws that you could've removed to drain the water. And how much would it cost to buy the aluminum thermostat housing
Thanx. I will remember that. I honestly can't remember the price, but I do remember that the difference in price between the polymer and the aluminum was so little making it a no-brainer to opt for the aluminum.
Please make a video on how to change the head gasket or how to redo the engine there is no videos on that for this model
If I ever have to take the head off, I will make a video. I am busy editing a video on a clutch job on the bantam.
@@JacoBadenhorstnice thank you sir
Just a question. Which is the return pipe on the water bottle?
I'll have to check. Unfortunately I sold the bantam last month, but I still have the workshop manual. I'll check for you.
Please tell us which pipe go where on thermostat housing on ford rocam. And which go to left and right side on heater control.
I will have to check on the heater controll. I just replaced them as they came off.
@@JacoBadenhorst I know that "R" (right hand one) on the heater control valve is the intake and "L" is outlet. My problem is witch of the 2 pipes on thermostat housing goes to "R" (inlet on heater Control). Thx
On the thermostat housing you get the thick pipe on the back(bottom) that come FROM radiator, then pipe 1,then 2,then the 3, small pipe that goes to water tsnk and in front the big pipe that goes back to radiator. Witch of 1 or 2 on termostat housing goes to heater control valve inlet, (that is "R" on heater valve).
@@riaanj3173 I just checked. "R" inlet goes from the centre port on on the thermostat housing and the "L" port from the rear of the thermostat housing. The smaller front port on the thermostat housing goes back to the tank.
@@JacoBadenhorst baie,baie dankie.
Please tell me what the best coolant is for Ford Bantam Rocam 1.3.
I am not really particular about a special brand. I just make sure that it has some or other rust/ corosion inhibitor. It will save your water pump in the long run.
Do you advice to rather replace the housing than the thermo only?
The original polymer housing on my bantam started leaking, so I had no choice. You could probably get away with only replacing the thermostat, but the housing isn't that expensive, so it's peace of mind I guess.
See mine was silicon,ed, tested the thermo after erratic cooling - not opening. Appreciate your response after 2 years of posting this video@@JacoBadenhorst
My bakkie build pressure on the water bottle and water pipes what is that
Blown head gasket.
Where to buy metal housing
It a generic aftermarket part. I bought this one at Cent-part in Centurion, but I think you will get it at any auto parts store.
My 1.3 it's losing power nw realy dnt knw Whts the problem... Wish u can fix fo me
Could be a couple of things. Best to have it checked out by a mechanic.
left pipe goes to left , right pipe to right, incase someone else struggles with it and cant see very well in video
Thanks for the comment.
Baie dankie meneer! I have waterpump leak on rocam engine, don't u have a video for that?
Thanks for the comment Sir. I changed my water pump just before I started doing these videos. make sure you draw the fan-belt routing before you take it off. I battled longer to get the routing right than it took to replace the pump. Draining coolant is the same as in this video. You will need a small ratchet to get the old water pump loose, as there is very little space to work. Also if it is the original gasket , it is a steel gasket and is connected to the rest of the front end of the motor, so I cut it off at the connection point and put in the replacement gasket on the water pump portion. The new pump will then bolt on as a single unit. The pulley bolts to the new pump and reroute the serpentine belt. I think the belt tensioner takes a 17mm of a 19mm spanner.
Jaco, watter pyp gaan na die heater control valve inlet vanaf die thermostat housing?
