Saw this drop earlier when I started my day. Waited for the evening when I clean up my kitchen and listen to something beneficial, and reflect on the day. This was a real treat, thank you.. Love how two giants come together to share so much wisdom in one conversation. Allahu akbar

I get my podcasts and lectures in when I’m cooking & cleaning too Masha’Allah. Thanks so much for listening and for your kind words. It’s a bit daunting that my first on-mic interview was such a major legend, but Dr West is so gracious.

I've been searching, been quite a bit lost over the last two years. My brother's anniversary will be on April 25th. He was someone I called little big bro, I'm 5'6 on a good day he was 63. He was the most wonderful upbringing, loving, caring, vivid soul I've ever met in my life. And this rejuvenated me, more than I even knew I needed. Such powerful connection and love. It doesn't matter what you call or who you believe in. I learned a long time ago, you can't stop the waves from coming in. Or the Sun from coming up. This was a beautiful reminder of exactly what I needed, not even knowing I needed it.

What I love about this and all your podcast episodes are those "little" or inbetween stories (Like Dr. West texting you in the middle of the night) that happen naturally between people who love and admire each other. Sharing those with us listeners are truly a blessing and much appreciated.

Greetings. What a beautiful and profound interview! Dr. Cornel West is by far one of the most impressive organic intellectuals I have ever encountered on screen and thru the written word.
What a privilege it was to be a fly on the wall, as it were, during this moving interview. The magisterial dialog was impressive...where one can easily see the love and respect between Brother Ali and Dr. West. Most of all, their love for humanity was unmistakably apparent throughout the exchange. THANK YOU Brother Ali, much respect.

The love you both got for the people is palatable. Dr. West has been so crucial to the decolonization of human intellect. You have been so crucial to the persistence of revolutionary spirit in entertainment, a spirit which will expose the deprivation of art under capitalism and long outlive the targets of its ire. It's great to hear you both coming together and synthesizing your insights and appreciation for one another in a public forum. See you when you're back in NY. Much love, Brother Ali -hq0

Wow, I started listening to Brother Ali in middle school (thank you grooveshark 🙏) and now I'm 28 and seeing and hearing this conversation is very special. Your music helped me feel less alone. Being from Mississippi I felt I didn't fit in anywhere and was always a bit of this and a bit of that but never enough and then moved to a area of NC where I really didn't fit in. I listened to tight rope probably over 100 times. It's hard to put into words the impact that was made on me. Thank you. Peace, love and have fun my friends.

You reminded me of the song KRS-One by Sublime.
    "But I know
And I know because of KRS-one Yeah and I know,
and I know because of KRS-one"
I'm a 44 year old white boy who grew up in the South and meeting Dr. West and having him genuinely call me "Brother" is on my bucket list.
My father's best friend is a black man and I look to him as an uncle and my school was fully integrated, 50/50. So as a youth I never understood segregation and racism. Once I got older and out into the real world I began to see. I kinda look like a "good ole boy" so some people felt comfortable expressing their racism around me. I was appalled once I saw how terrible some people could be. In some instances it was painful to find that some people I admired had the disease of racism. But it was an important lesson because then I knew what I had to fight against, "Know your enemy."
I've been a fan of your music for some time and now I'm a fan of you podcast. Keep up the good works Brother Ali. I hope to see you sometime in Charlotte, North Carolina.
BTW: I love the marimba music, such a warm & rich sound.

Brother, I remember seeing you live in Birmingham, AL way back in perhaps 2014 or 2015. At one point on stage you got to talking about Dr. West and pulled out your phone to play us a voicemail he'd left for you. You did that to demonstrate how authentic he is, and how his lyrical speech patterns never change. He's definitely not playing a character!

OK to start, the happiness in each of you during this korero shone a light into my life that I wasn't aware I needed right now
Secondly Felipe Coronel has the strongest energy and presence I have ever experienced in a human being first hand
Finally to hear Dr West speak of his mothers passing an to describe the gift of experience and love that he was able to obtain from his relationship with his mother nearly had me in tears
My brother an i used the hard work that our mother beat into us as children to give her back to the earth last week
During that i was asked how i felt and my response of "happy" was lost on many people an I found I didn't possess the words to explain what I was feeling in that moment.
Much love to Dr West for his beautiful articulation of that because it is going to help me explain/teach to others in the future.
    Peace Brother

Thank You so much both of you. I often ponder as a person who has been exposed to many many aspects of spirituality, why The Islamic Faith is so hard to find in my world. I grew up as a Baptist Christian as a young child. I was drawn to study Buddhism quite a bit after learning how powerful a tool meditation was in my personal life. That kind of seemed to me to overlap a lot of Hindi ways so I read the Gita and soaked up as much Hindu & Indian Yogi info as I could find on CZcams etc. And I have read stacks of "spiritual" books that would probably best be labeled somewhere under the "New Age" umbrella. But I have never been introduced to the Quaran, and even with all of my seeking it never seems to come under my radar. I am so curious about it. I suppose it's on me to look harder for it, and I will. Peace to both of you gentlemen. I am a huge fan of both. I hope to see you again if you come back to The Cornerstone next month Brother Ali. (although I don't see that listed below with the other tour dates. Be Well. Blessings & Love.
