Bescot Yard Aerial Flyover

What happened to Bescot Depot? Last time I visited BS it had an allocation of shunters and quite a few locos in the yard, EWS 66's mainly, but still a working depot. Sad to see what it's become, but some nice activity in the yard for a cold December Sunday morning (4 degrees)

The footage is taken obeying all legal flight restrictions for the area, the category of the drone, and in full compliance of the current CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) regulations for drone usage (Dec-22). The pilot, operator and drone are fully registered with the Civil Aviation Authority.

Fantastic footage that is. It's hard to believe what it used to be and what it is now. In the late 80's I was at college in Coventry and had a travel pass so I'd hit SY and BS on a Sunday. I'd see probably 80 locos. I have been there quite a few times over the last couple of years, sad to see it a shadow of it's former self. Keep up the good work.

So sad to see the demise of a depot which used to bustling with numerous classes. brilliant drone work.thank you. I have been visiting the depot since the late 60s to around 2010 when i lost interest due to not much variety.

Yes, it was a great depot back in the 80s with a lot of freight traffic through. It was always worth a trip out from New Street when we visited Brum for the day. Shame. Thanks for watching 👀

Lovely to see BS from a different perspective. Last toured the depot late eighties with RESL. Those were the good old days.

with the exception of the TMD and the old steam shed gone, largely as was, which is rare in this age, but a shadow of her former glory days

Such a shame. I only remember BS as a diesel depot, but always had a few good locos on there

The old depot got dozed within the last five years. Think there was a crew SOP retained but nothing of the old workshops.

Great footage here, and not a usual view you can get without a drone. Just wondering what drone you use and if there is anything else you need to do apart from getting an operators licence from the CAA. Thanks :)

Thanks. I use a DJI mini 3 pro, sub 250g drone. Need an operators license and pilot ID after taking an online test, which is £5 a year.
