  • I was on Google earth today and I spotted a few interesting disused pieces of track that used to belong to the North London Line (now the overground)
This is a slightly different video so don't expect much
    Enjoy!

Broad Street Station was roughly where Broadgate Circle is now.

The North London Line stations beyond Stratford were West Ham, Canning Town, Custom House, Silvertown & City Airport and North Woolwich. This section of the line was closed soon after the Docklands Light Railway branch to King George V, running parallel and very close to it, was opened.

Still miss being able to get from home near Canning Town to Highbury without an awkward change at Stratford. Though having said that the NLL service appeared to be erractic at best

There was a great CZcams video showing an NLL Cab ride from Silvertown to Richmond. You could see where it went along the Elizabeth Line alignment under the Connaught Tunnel, then over to the DLR/Jublie line alignment to Stratford International and over to the Overground alignment all the way to Richmond in one single journey. However I cannot find it again and cannot remember which CZcamsr posted it. (Was about 3-4 years ago) It was a great video that illustrated what you are describing here. Be great to see it again if anyone knows who published it and see if it can be re-uploaded.

No, Broad Street station was immediately to the west ( ie to the left when looking north) of Liverpool Street station.. Also, the platforms were above street level - accessed by large staircases from Liverpool Street ( the street, not the station),

I remember the NLL when Bullied EPB’s were in use. The terminus at woolwich was next to the old woolwich station and there was a museum in the station area

Broad Street was slightly West of Liverpool Street, not East. Great video though.

I lived in London in the late 90s and liked to explore at the weekends. One Saturday I took a leisurely day out to ride the North London line into the North Woolwich terminus. There was a railway museum in the terminus building which was interesting, and it was also right next to the foot tunnel under the Thames which I walked through for fun.

Dont think the North London went to the Poplar / Bow area - wasnt that Eastern Counties or some other smaller company , all got a big complex, Jago explained it reasonably well

I would suggest rehearse more so you know all the stations. I got dizzy with all the flirting around. Good subject. Good luck for the future 👍🏻

Yeah I forgot about Royal Victoria being before custom house
(Unlike my other videos this was not scripted)

Hugh, Chingford trains run from Liverpool Street, nor is Chingford in Essex, it was accommodated into The London Borough of Waltham Forest in 1965. Enjoying your videos though. 👏👏
