For those wondering, the reason blood is red is because of the iron within the hemoglobin. Not all animals have iron though. Some have copper or other elements, which is why their blood is different colors. For example, jellyfish blood is purple and a fair amount of insects are green.
Have you ever smushed an insect and it was this weird green-white mixture of fluids, but no "blood"? Well, that green-white mixture IS their blood.
