I have yet to find the perfect convertible laptop, the spectre x360 comes pretty close. Thanks for watching!
Dave Lee Dave, I tried tweeting at you, but couldn't catch a hold of you. Do you still happen to have the Acer predator helios 300? Can you give it to me? Before I start getting hate replies for asking for free shit. I wanna clarify. In my country it costs 2000 dollars. I'm ready to pay a 1000 dollars which is the original price but double the price is just stupid! So yeah... I just have to ask. I'm running out of options and I'm gonna have to buy something else that just isn't gonna cut it. Dave, if you do see this. Please reply😃
+Dave Lee how do you get to review so many laptops ????
Maybe take off your white watch. Its quite distracting to see it and it take away the attention from what you are reviewing. Otherwise great job!
This or the Gigabyte Aero 15X with the GTX1070, or Surface Book 2 with GTX1060. which one do you buy? Looking for a super slim powerful gaming laptop, but torn between an ultra thin with long battery life. Decisions
+Bharath Raj yeah country also has a billion poor people living in dirty . why not ask anything for them as well ? Duffer
I could watch Dave talk about laptops for days. Come to think of it, I have spend considerable time doing just that. Fun to be had.
Alexander Verdoodt Me too. And I am not even in the market for a laptop :).
Gekko 😄
Writing this comment on it! Everything is as stated. Great laptop, great feel, great quality!
Love your videos man! Best wishes from Portugal!

Hi! I got myself one for christmas, but since the latest windows update this thing is not useable as a tablet anymore. The shortcut to rotation lock is not there anymore, as well as the keyboard and trackpad are not deactivated anymore when you fold it into tablet mode.
Anyone who got the same issues?
Another great review, Dave. I can’t get over how clean, simple and professional your videos are. I’ve learned so much about tech from this channel and you are constantly helping me make choices on computers that I think I want. You’ve made me a much more informed buyer. Keep up the great work!
Ngl this looks like the HP ENVY
Think im gonna go with this for college👌
Great review
Very honest
Recent subscriber here. I love your channel! I'm a computer salesmen and I use your channel for product research constantly! The way you break down and explain devices is superb! Keep it up!!
love that transition from flipping the laptop over to the shot where the bottom cover is off. so effortless
Awesome review! Please do one on the HP Spectre x360 15" with the AMD Vega GPU when it becomes available! I'm thinking of replacing my 2015 15" MBP with it. Hopefully, it'll be a good 4K video editing laptop.
Can it cut carrots though?
Yes.... But now I need to clean mine.
@@PoopyMcdikFace This provides a VERY interesting insight. I'm very surprised by how many people must choose consecutive numbers. I would guess that their thinking was that most people would avoid consecutive numbers because it doesn't "look" probable. They tried to out-think the average punter and found that lots of other people did the same. Where there are million of people playing it only takes a minute percentage to have the same idea as you and you're screwed. In reality the best way is to go truly random. There's always the bind of what happens when you select randomly and turn up a series or pattern. I think I'd be tempted to re-randomise in such situations.....
@@stevethea5250 well,that was random.

This review really helped me decide to get this laptop. You do a great job. No crazy intro or obnoxious music, you speak clearly and in a relatable way, your camera and microphone look and sound nice, and your editing is spot-on. I love the reviews, keep it up!
Ugh, the transition from the backside of the laptop to the "backplate" being removed was so slick!
Hey Dave! would you mind if you make a review on the new x360 gem cut???
Nice review, can't wait for you to review the XPS 15 2in 1
You’re videos are oddly satisfying, been building Gaming PCs for a bit, now I’m looking into laptops
I found your channel six months ago when I was trying to decide which laptop to buy and I’ve been watching ever since! Love your style, keep up the good work!
1:52 Holy shit that transition blend!!

Just wanted to stop in and say: Dave your channel is so clean, like it looks super nice. I've been subbed for a while and I've never watched one of your videos and thought, "hmm, this looked poorly lit." or, "meh, not a fan of the way that was shot."
I can tell that you put care and effort into putting these videos together and your intro animations are a super sweet touch. I deeply enjoy your content and especially love the aesthetic of your channel.
I remember you mentioning that you do the youtube channel as more of a personal hobby, and i just wanted to thank you for sharing what I think has been an amazing run of videos. I look forward to seeing more.
Peace!
Finally Dave reviewed spectre!!!
Daniel Li now he has to review Meltdown
Smartwatch Hax LOL
Nice review :) could you get the Asus Zenbbok flip 14? Its a convertible with an MX150 and i would realy like to hear your opinion about that :)
Thanks for this super helpful review! I actually just bought this computer and I’m glad to see you approve and learn more about what is going on inside.
I've been waiting for this review. I just bought mine can't wait for it to come in!
Hey Dave, I've been using the 15 inch variant of this laptop (also with the 8th gen chip) and the coil whine is driving me crazy! I'm curious if this is just my case that I'm having a defective unit? Or have you done any optimization to your review unit? I've tried clean Windows 10 install and updated to the newest version of bios which is an advice of HP support on the HP forum and nothing has changed... Have any idea on how to fix this problem?
Coil whine is a hardware fault, there is little that you can do on the software side that will change it. If you are still within warranty
then return it for a new unit.
This is an issue with the 15inch variant. I've got the last gen (7th gen) and had similar issues. Bought from best buy and was able to get a return device with ALMOST no coil whine (only audible in a absolute silent room with ear to device). good luck!
Thanks guys for replying! I just contact hp support and they said it is a hardware issue as well. Since I bought this unit in the US because of the insane price tag in my country($2100 for the 13 inch variant and no 15 inch for sale), I will have to ask my friend to bring it back for me, so the issue MUST be solved...
what about the 15 verion with the new emd and intel gpu+cpu chip. is it small anoght for a student?

That didn't come out yet. And your 2nd 0art is incoherant.
Can't wait for that one. Hope it's better than the 13 I returned
@@richard_darwin which one are you talking about? Xps15 2in1??
OMG! I asked a month ago to do this product review and you really did it! thanks!
Thank you for including more advanced topics like overclocking capability in your reviews!

she makes very beautiful paintings

please make a video of the newer version
Can I just say I love the color and light setting of your video. Great quality
I like that subtle music that was playing at around the 4 minute mark.
Writing this comment on it and it's amazing. The Bang & Olufsen's sound, the trackpad, the screen... I will recommend it to everyone!
Always great to see an excellent video from you!! I'm with you - 15 inch for a 2-in-1 is too large! Do you think the XPS 15 2-in-1 is an exception?
I recently bought a HP Envy 15 x360, with the Ryzen 5 mobile chip, 16GB of RAM, a 256GB NVME SSD/1TB HDD and onboard vega 8 mobile graphics for $1700 AUD. 15" 2in1's are honestly not nearly as bad as reviewers make them out to be. The bigger screen is much nicer for gaming, watching movies, etc, and it's not too big to the point where it's a nightmare to flip the screen over. I personally find 13" screens flat out too small. I've been using my 24" desktop monitor for quite a while and I'm used to having so much freedom in terms of raw screen space. But this is my personal preference, I'd 100% recommend going to your local tech store and taking the 13" and 15" laptops out for a spin and see what you prefer.
most ppl are using it flat on desk to take notes in school, so 15.6" is fine if you want sthg that has performance and 2-in-1
I'm using a Lenovo Yoga 720 15inch which is a convertible laptop. Apart from the it being heavy, I don't see a problem using it in tablet mode.
Not at all, xps15 is also heavy af. I'd say the only exceptions are lg gram and surface book, and I guess you know the reasons.
love your intro, so unique and simple, its such an exquisite intro!
Great Video as Usual. I needed the assurance as I was ready to buy this
U know why i like u? Well you're different not a CZcamsr that screams every 2 seconds and u are a great unboxer like u know u say everything that u like and don't like and that's why I like u! Have a nice day everyone! :)

Admirał Holdo Speaking Of which, why do most CZcamsr scream every 2 seconds ? It’s pretty annoying to be honest.

HP does great things with its Spectre lineup.
From build quality to battery life, sound, screen everything works as it should.
The only complaint I have is at due to thinness, some USB keys are raising up the chassis when plugged in... 😂
Liion B the screen has many issues. I sent mine back
Are you talking about the one with intel core i7-8705g?
I haven't seen reviews of it from big channels. Only some written reviews with mixed positives and negatives.
I have HP Pavilion 15
Perfect timing for this video, as I'm currently thinking of buying the spectre
I bought it yesterday for my dad. I'm happy with all you said about it Dave. I think this is the best review I've seen about it.
But how does it taste?

Why
1:49 I haven't finished watching the video yet, but this transition was really cool and seamless.
Heyyy glad to see you reviewed this one! I have last year variant with an i7 and love it! Want to grab a solid ultra book that would last me through grad school and when I hit the professional world and haven't bee disappointed with it.
Gives me a lot of flxibilty when taking notes and highliting important info. Definitely recommend it for students and young professionals
Bought it around christmas 2017, the dark ash gray color wasn't available in Canada in the configuration i wanted so i went to the states to buy it... got a GREAT DEAL in the US, $1300 for i7-8550U, 16 GB ram, 512 GB of SSD and 4K screen. amazing laptop, use it to develop and content consumption, haven't found any flaws yet! updated the trackpad to windows precision drivers using dave's video and IT WORKS! :D
Ling Xing How's the performance in video editing using adobe premiere?
Do you have any coil whine when it's unplugged at some brightness levels? That's honestly my only complaint but it's fine because it can be prevented
You're the best reviewer man!!
No. The Best Of The Best
Dave, thanks for consistently providing top-notch, quality content. Definitely helped me make a final decision with my new 2-in-1 purchase.
@Dave Lee - what about the trackpad? I have the same model and the trackpad has this annoying noise/slack in the lower part every time I even touch it.
PSA: The 15" model has a mx150 and its only 100$ more w/ a higher resolution and 16gbs of ram
Waiting for Asus vivobook s15 review???? Please do it....
I gotta say, this laptop is super tempting. As you said, it looks like an actually decent 2-in-1. It checks all the boxes for me. Plus, the Thunderbolt 3 support is just icing on the cake. The question now is 1) whether I'll actually have the funds and 2) whether I actually want/need a 2-in-1. I've got a 2-in-1 Chromebook right now (Acer R11) and I'm quite pleased with it. I'll have to keep an eye on this one for when I get a new laptop for seminary next year.
Thanks for the review!... Just got mine after seeing it. Great laptop, spot on recommending it.
It also comes in a 4k version
AwesomeGuy i would go with 1080p
Origami MCR why?
The 1080p has a longer battery life
Origami MCR yeah, kinda figured that was why
@Modest Mewtwo I just got it too. I've never spent long periods of time with 4k but it's beautiful now that I have it daily. Only complaint I have is the coil whine with certain brightness levels when unplugged but to me it's worth it
oh no your laptop has spectre 1:18 lel

What about the AMD Ryzen 5 2500u version. The Ryzen integrated graphics are so much better.
Yep I bought that. For 1k I got the Ryzen 5 with 32gb RAM and 256ssd + 1tb hdd
Wouldn't you just get the $650 one?
What specs does the $650 one have? I wanted more ram and storage
The HP x360 Ryzen model is of the Envy series. Thats a whole tier below the Spectre models in quality.
TheHavocInferno how so?
Lol the hp logo looks like dq in tablet mode.
You mean dy?
I am just purchased this laptop few months ago but it is noisy when charging cause it starts to heat up so much any idea whether this is a normal thing or my product is faulty . and if it is faulty do you recommend to seek a repair or just to deal with it. Can you please also describe how quite is quite for you cause when ever the fans are on they are not that quite putting into consideration that there are two levels of fan speeds. thanks in advance
Love your videos! Keep up the good work. Mine were just garbage. I ordered 2 envy units and one came with a dead ssd and the other one came with defective display. They had been sitting in the service center for over a month without any resolutions. Hp rep told me to just go buy a new laptop at a local hp store.

I really like this review and am looking to get an HP laptop for my day to day use. What do you think of the HP Elitebook 1050 GI?
Whats the model for that specific one? And also i have the hp spectre x360 13 model: ae091ms and i was wondering if i connect it to a akitio node with a gtx 1060 6gb, how would it run? Thank you in advance
Great review!
I bought the laptop a month ago with the i7 and 16 gigs of RAM. It feels amazing, I must say. The chassis is sturdy, keyboard is great, long battery, usability as a convertible, almost everything's great. I even got working my lenovo USB-C 45W adapter to charge this thing (through a USB-C dongle, not directly, but still working...).
But there're a few things to consider if you want this laptop:
1) Sound - there're some issues with the sound driver (probably will get solved over time), sometimes the sound just doesn't work and if you connect headphones, there's kind of electric static noise coming from them. Can be solved by running through the "Fix sound problems" in Windows without restarting and telling you don't hear the testing sounds (which you don't...) after it finishes, the utility says it couldn't tell what the problem is, but the sound works from that moment. Takes no more than 2 minutes, still annoying though. And when the sound works, it's quite a good quality sound for an ultrabook, I was surprised, definitely better speakers than the MSI GS63VR I have.
2) Touchpad - the touchpad works just fine, but it's (at least on my unit) poorly "glued" to the bottom. It just makes clicking noise even if you don't press it hard enougt to trigger left/right click, which is really annonying.
3) Fingerprint scanner - I wanted to use only fingerprint scanner for logging in into Windows (didn't want to use the IR cameras, so I haven't tried using them). After the first setup, it took at least 10 times to recognize my finger (after 3 you have to type in a PIN code). It's on quite a wierd position (and shape) in my opinion, you just dont hit it perfectly every time, cause you don't see it as it's on the side of the laptop. I had to go through the process of adding more fingers (actually I was just adding the one, but in different angles, positions...) at least three times to get the finger mapped and now it usually recognizes me after the 2nd or 3rd attempt.
4) The pen - there's a pen being shipped with this model. It feels really good, tracking is nice, the actuation pressure is a little high, but that's ok. As I'm coming from the Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet (S Pen styls support), I was used to never worry about the battery in the pen. This one I have to charge like every week basically, the first time it went dead on me I was really surprised, it was only a few days of using it, which seems to me like a joke. Also it has a built in battery, so it HAS to be charged via USB-C cable. A week of battery life for a pen just seems to be too little for me.
5) Processor - as said in the video, TDP in the Intel XTU can't be altered (can, but does nothing), so the processor can shortly boost to higher clocks (3.2-3.4GHz) and 30W of TDP, but then drops to about 2.3GHz and 10-12W of TDP, where it stays. But that's just how the "U" processors roll, I have not that much experience with other "U" laptops, so that may be normal, so that's just a small gripe.
All in all, I love this laptop, other than the short battery life of the pen and the trackpad "clicking" issue, I'm really happy that I got it. Oh yea and one more thing - there're large discussions about the battery drain when the unit is off (10% a day or so) - happy to say, that it has been fixed with the 8th gen (at least my unit) and the unit does NOT drain battery when off, which is great to see, that HP looked into this troubling issue.
Hope it helps someone!
Cheers
+Dave Lee I would suggest you to always check HP laptops for "Coil Whine", Rubbers fell itself in a very short time period, I have this laptop as a second laptop, I bought this one more than a year ago and in one month both rubbers fell itself. I use laptops very gently because I like tech and I hate it when I scratch it or anything, but I think it has so bad thermal it is always hot and the glue has so bad quality it just fell itself. it has problems with type-c screens like if type-c is connected it never turns on ( I had the same problem with several HP Envys), and if you shut down laptop screens still think laptop is on and they keep backlighting on forever. while the same screens work on any other laptops fine and auto sleep when laptops go to sleep or off.
Just got one of these and my first reaction also was that it felt quite comfortable. Coming from an HP Revolve G1, the screen and performance completely are solid. I heard about the pen ahead of time and the optional Tilt Pen (not regular HP Pen it comes with) works very nice. I plan on getting more used to that but it could help me with my entry to digital artistry. Got the device on sale too, for under $1000. Well worth it if someone is on the fence about this! Great alternative to the Zbook x2, which can be a few hundret or thousand more.
Can you create review to the 15t Vega model? And is its RAM upgradable or soldered? Does it comes with the leather sleeve and pen when purchised from their site?
Awesome video and laptop! I've recently got an HP Envy 13'' and it's been amazing. Same CPU, probably keyboard too. It even has better port selection IMO since it has USB type-c and type-a on both sides so it's prefect.
I bought the x360 13 primarily as a laptop...it actually had the right combo of specs + ports + price relative to the other laptops available in my part of the world, so it made total sense to me to buy it, even though I don't really use the 2-in-1 feature...but it's nice to have it, especially when I'm travelling on a plane etc.
Any time i wanna buy a gadget i always look forward on your say about the product i trust only your revies.thanks for your amazing reviews
Great review. Looking forward to a review of the new 15" model with improved graphics. I'm interested mostly in the noise level as I have 2 fanless HPs right now (1020 G1 and Folio G1). I love them to develop software at total silence, but I need more screen space when I travel and have to run financial applications. Once you use a noiseless notebook it's really hard to deal with fan noise.
Hi Dave, I have a HP 2 in 1 and when I turn it on it is really loud? Any thoughts to help? Thanks.
How are the Yoga 920's chamfered edges too hard but the flat, sharp edges of the Spectre 360 ok?
I dont see a lot of weight differences with MSI gs65. Should I get this or MSI gs65 for school work and graphic works???
Hey Dave. I have been considering this computer, particularly the 15" model. Have you been able to try a Thunderbolt 3 Dock with charging? Everything I read HP has put DRM on the USB-PD spec that allows charging. My use case is specific, but I want a one cable docking solution. I was holding out to March for the Intel G with Radeon graphics. I'd be docking it at home for work, using it in tent mode for media and presentations, and obviously laptop mode when working remotely. Because of the DRM I am considering the XPS 15 in March. Thanks!
Hello Dave, will you make any review on the new spectre x360 15 with 8705g cpu ? I am really looking forward to that
Thank you for the review - what hp laptop would u recommend if I don't use the 2 & 1 as much but the specs look good
I'm looking for good battery, lots of storage & ram and quality speakers - les for gaming more for work and video editing
I've been checking your videos a lot lately and my next laptop will for sure be one I'll expand with an external GPU, which you always mention but never test with the rigs
Dave Lee - is it worth buying a gaming laptop now or wait until June or July for the refresh stuff to come out?? Looking at the MSI GS63 1070 max q stealth pro.
