- Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola rules both John Stones and Kyle Walker out for the huge clash against Arsenal on Sunday. Guardiola seemed pretty furious when asked if he was surprised that Stones was allowed to play in both of England’s friendlies during the international break.

You can fully understand Pep's frustration on John Stones... he's been struggling for fitness a lot this season and then he plays in BOTH of England's friendlies, with him now missing Sunday's huge clash against Arsenal! 😤
Isn't friendlies supposed to be about trying out new players and tactics and whatnot? But those coaches always pick the same players at top clubs just to build up appearances. Why are friendlies even played anyway? probably politics.

But Gareth Southgate is a political manager like you said and cares more about winning a friendly than he does about improving the team. He likes what is comfortable and what he knows and is afraid to try anything new
Cares more about winning? The guy lost one and got a draw in the last minute at fucking Wembley against Brazil B Team and Belgium B Team. Southgate is a terrible manager, but problem is that 80% of England fans are thick, so they didn't realize at the time that a Semi Final in WC and Final in Euros is not that impressive considering the squads England have had and the oppositions they had to face.
I mean, the way to the semi finals of WC 2018 was a group with Panama, Tunisia and Belgium and they finished 2th in that group. After that they had the way easiest draw of all time by playing against f*cking Sweden and Colombia and they celebrated beating Colombia on penalties as if it was peak Brazil or something. Then they meet Croatia in the semifinals where England ofc are favorites and they even got 1-0 lead and yet they still went out. That was not a good perfomance getting to the semifinals of the WC 2018, it was rather a terrible WC because they didn't get to the final with such an easy way to the final with all due respect to Sweden, Colombia and Croatia.
At the Euros they played all their games at home, and the only big nation they beat was Germany, and you could even say that at the time Germany was terrible and playing at Wembley so ofc England had to win that being big favorites. That Germany team had went out of the group stage of the WC before that Euros and also went out of the group stage of the WC in Qatar after that Euros. So again, playing almost every game at Wembley, England had another easy path to the final of the Euros and got in front and yet lost to an Italy team, that was good, but let's be honest in terms of individual players and playing at Wembley, England should always beat that Italy team.
Southgate was tactically done by by Croatia's manager in WC 2018, he got done tactically by Mancini in Euros and got tactically done by Deschamps in WC in Qatar. Southgate is a mediocre manager, and that's why his CV is shit managing Middlesborough.
