Ingredients:
Jamuns (java plums) - 500 gms
Water - 2lt
Sugar - ½ cup
Salt - to taste
Black Pepper Powder - ¼ tsp
Black salt - ½ tsp
Roasted cumin Crushed - 1½ tbsp
Lemon juice - ¼ cup
Ice Cubes - few (optional)
Mint leaves - a handful

I have a very nostalgic experience to share. We used to live in an old AFK (Ammunition Factory Khadki, Pune) quarters that was built years ago by the British. Now, in front of the bungalow stood 2 huge jamun trees and they used to bear fruits by mid May until September. One was very sweet tasting (the younger tree) whereas the other one was a little tangy. There were some vagrant local boys throwing stones at the trees to procure the fruits thereby destroying the window sills by a few wayward stones. We compromised and thought of employing a help to pluck sackful (2 sacks actually) of jamun and then used to distribute it among the locals. The stone throwing ritual stopped immediately!
Many things are so bang on. They leave a dryness in the mouth after eating, worms infest them during the rainy season (and the wooly ones that causes itching during winters). Very good for controlling diabetes (my granny used to have it). One more thing, you gotta be careful while eating them as they stain your clothes and hands! Nice recipe Kunal ji. Dhanyawaad. In Bangladesh we called it jam. And in summer every noon we eat this with chilli powder, green chilli, salt,bit salt and shake it..tasty🤤🤤🤤

Chef my childhood experience with jamun just got matched with yours. Maine bhi excitement me taste kiye the but karwa tha to bohout saal duur raha jamun se. Few years ago maine rock salt ke sath raw jamun ko mash karke khaya to badha accha taste laga.... Now jamuns are one of my favourite fruits.💜💜💜
