That first one, it’s a ‘crowquill’. Fantastic for crosshatching and pen-and-ink work. Used that thing a lot doing scientific illustration, pre computers and switching to commercial sculpting.
As a middle aged woman I'd like to say - New here....just wanna say you're utterly brilliant, and I don't just mean your art, you're funny and cool and your voice is fabulous. You really should have your own TV show. You're so natural and confident I envy you! 😁 Plus your art, I can't even start with the compliments, there aren't enough words to describe how great it is 😍.
I'm so sad to see all of your older videos are gone... 😢 Is there any chance they may be relisted or re-uploaded one day? No pressure of course, they were just some of my favorite art-related videos on here and I would even come back to rewatch them from time to time... Either way, thank you for continuing to make videos, I love your work and sense of humor! And I really dig those nails too 🪲
Man, Love to see your work in a published volume, esp those large intricate graphite pics- beautiful! I mean what got me watching was your excellent gouache paintings and quirky sense of style & chicken chasing, but... You've got such a great, unique style- love it.
Thank you for sharing this video honestly. I have fallen in love with the form and feelings you captured in airbrushing in your sketchbooks. I do appreciate the details you give on the products that you use it is not easy to find people who are honest about the products. You have inspired me a few months ago with the airbrush machine you mentioned/showed in one of your previous shorts. After weeks of debating and speaking some finances with The Love. I got one! :) It should be here this weekend and I am excited! :D I just wanted to share that with you since I do believe it is important to let others know how their art can/does inspire others. Listening to your words of advice with the watercolors and the airbrush I look forward to creating something with the new found confidence. I enjoy your energy and information you've shared with items that work well together to get the best results. I like how easy and comfortable this video is as you go through speaking on the art supplies. :) Best wishes C:
One night in high school after procrastinating all year I decided to complete my entire AP art portfolio in one night- which meant 10 finished works of art- and was surrounded by prisma colored pencils and pencil shavings, my hands were coated in the wax and the smell of those pencils followed me for weeks after and ever since then that smell absolutely suffocates me when I use them
This review was amazing! I really love all the supplies you mention as I own most of them ahaha. I could say so much about gouache as I love it so much aswelll! Great job.
Loved the jewelry and the video. It's always nice to see the supplies. I'm a bit of a supply hoarder myself but I just love looking at them. Sadly, I do more looking at them than actually creating but I am getting better at that. I love your art style, so whimsical. Lovely.
I've seen some of your shorts and they're cute but this is informative and shows some of your art that I didn't even know you did. Cool video and I'll def check out some of these supplies
Close up of your nails! Also, thank you for helping me find painting inspiration again 💕 Ps. I played fairy until I was 12. First of all, I love your illustrations!🍄 They are so bright, colourful, original!✨ Sincere congratulations As an illustrator, I enjoyed the video and immediately followed you!💚🎨
not sure when you last used sakura microns, because the formula might have changed, but last time i used them i was able to layer watercolor over them with 0 bleed! this was a couple years ago now (senior year, so like 2 years ago- i dont use watercolor often lol.) they do still bleed a bit under alcohol markers though
Great video but there isn't any links and like the very first item the dip pen there's no brand name or info for the nib and dip pen. Please help a girl out. 😂 Lots of choices out there to get lost in but I do love how thin and skinny it is versus some of the fatter comic ones. So many choices and I've tried to purchase them half a dozen or more times but I get lost in the reviews and hundreds of choices in Amazon and after a few hours I give up until the next time I watch a CZcams video. 😂 Thanks for sharing your favorites most of your stuff I was able to look up and find and loved seeing your art. New sub here.
oh sorry I assumed we had a psychic link again. The brand is speedball, they're super cheap. www.dickblick.com/products/speedball-number-20-general-purpose-set/
6:50 I have the exact same problem with them, even though the packaging states they're bleed-proof xc I might switch to the copic ones once my Sakura ones run out
How long do you let them dry before adding colour? Just curious.. I hear about the Microns bleeding a lot but mine never have (in use with watercolour and even on top of acrylic before I varnish) 🤔 I know with acrylics I have to give 24hr dry time before varnishing or the Microns will reactivate and bleed, especially because acrylic prevents the ink from absorbing into the surface so it has to be 100% dry before I add the varnish. With watercolour I mix it up, but everytime I use the pens before painting I always give at least an hour for the pen to dry on the paper. I'm just curious if it's a dry time thing or if maybe Micron have changed their formula since I bought my pack? It was a few years ago, so it's possible they have, I just never had any issues with mine so I was always interested when others had issues with theirs. I also have never had tape tear any of my paper, but I see that happen all the time too with people using the same tape, and I never do anything special like blow drying or sticking it to my clothing first? Yet when tape does tear other's paper they're not doing anything different than I would so it's always just confusing to me 😅
Hello I wanted to ask whether you’d have a link for all of these? Or could tell me where to buy them ? (Preferably online because I’m from Europe and a lot of these art supplies aren’t really in most art stores) would really appreciate it . Thank you!
I have some singles of the KUM sharpeners and love them! They have a small wood body and the two size sharpeners. I have those eraser pens-love them. I LOVE that graphite of the woods-owl and girl!! And I want your nails. Not literally YOUR nails, just the polish.😂
Starting off by obviously saying how pretty your rings are, but I wanted to ask the names of the gouache brands? I know you said it in the video but English gets funky in my head sometimes so I need it spelled
Nowadays it's me trying to decide what not to use 😂 sometimes i study chemical compunds to see how far I can push it. Trying to resist the urge to make materials like paint myself. Do you find the gouche cracking from the prismacolor pressure?
new in the channel and I´m very impressed with your art. Its full of live and personality . do you illustrate coloring books or pages? It would be awesome. I love coloring( not very good on it but I love it) and really your drawings and paintings are inspiring ( loved your nails too lol) hugs from Brazil.
I would like to know what paper and notebooks you use. I know you showed two but like what brand are then and where can i find similar. My paper tends to warp even with taping 😢
Watercolor paper: arches or canson, always hot press, never use Strathmore. My watercolor sketchbook is paul ruben, my graphite sketchbooks are moleskine.
I love how you spray paint the background. It’s an ingenious way to use spray paint. Also i didn’t know you could just buy a tiny one to use at home - i thought it had to be only done outside and was toxic
Wonderful Video, thank you! :) do you have any tips on what palettes to use, and how to keep them clean and reuse them? I’ve found it a bit of a nightmare. Either a palette is too small or too big, the gouache dries too quickly or I can’t clean the palette easily. Just confused in general haha :) have a lovely day and greetings from Germany! ❤️
Im not sure itll be available in Germany, but i use this organizer from joann fabrics. Its designed to keep scrapbooking projects in order. Its a metal shelf on wheels that has several lipped grey trays. I use the trays as pallates, and I can alternate between them for different projects. And, they come pretoned gray. As for color selection, its completely randomly suited to the piece. I prefer to use fresh gouache instead of rewetted. Heres a link to the item, perhaps theres a similar one in germany: www.joann.com/we-r-memory-keepers-ash-grey-storage-project-cart-6-trays-4-wheels/17456203.html
Oh also, you can rewet gouache with a spray bottle. And to clean pallates, i just throw them in the shower and let them soak in hot water. The gouache will lift with light hand scrubbing. Just, mind the dangerous minerals.
I'm not a pinterest poster, but you can find stills of my art on my website. I plan on building a portfolio style page their cause my art is always in motion in video form. I'm filling out my insta slowlllllyyy. kkderobst.com

Does gouache work on jeans/clothes? 🤔 I’ve only ever used the cheap ones they have in school and I want to get professional ones but I like doodling on clothes with bleach(obviously with gloves) and not having color is really boring, also where can I get a good set of them? I love your art by the way❤sorry this comment is kinda long😅
Gouache is water soluble, it will not stay on clothes. You can use Holbein acryla gouache, posca markers, and other polymer based paints on clothes. Do not use oil, you could just randomly catch on fire.
@@kkderobstI assume catching on fire isn’t a nice experience so I’m glad I didn’t go through with anything yet so thanks for the advice! Really appreciate it 🙏
Hi I paint on clothes and fabrics quite often. I'd recommend using actual fabric paints or acrylic paints. Acrylic paint is more likely to crack on areas that crease, so use fabric paint in those areas. Be mindful that if it's a very stretchy fabric it might not take paint as well.
@@Ali-mv3jc you’re right I have noticed that acrylic cracks so I have been using fabric paint on some of my clothes but I prefer acrylic it’s easier for me to use so thanks for the advice I’ll see if it helps
@@cookiesonline pebeo does decent fabric paint that feels pretty similar to acrylic. It's not too pricey either and you can get little sample packs to see if you like it. It holds up pretty well over time too. Happy painting! Oh also remember to wash your brushes as soon as you finish. Otherwise it's nearly impossible to get fabric paint out.
LOL, I think the u in the name of the sharpener is pronounced, eww. Also, I have 100s of thriftstore Prismacolor. People take them for granted. I have baked a few, about 5 minutes and let them cool outside of the oven.
I saw your art and I think you are definitely underrated, maybe if you did more drawings based on games/movies you would have a bigger audience. Also thanks for the art supply video :)
@kkderobst HOW do u find da patience to WAIT for paint to dry so u can go onto da next schtep.. PS.- Oooooooooooo😮😍🤩😍 prrrreeeettttyyyy shiny things!(rings) I LIKEEEE! 🫶🏻
Any gouache outside of Holbein and Windsor and Newton isn't worth the capital. You won't be getting the same experience or learning with poor quality art supplies. I'd recommend starting with basic mixing colors, finding them second hand on ebay. Cheap and lets you now what gouache is really like (thick, smooth, buttery and not chalky and streaky)
@@kkderobst ty! I did go all in and get a higher quality pack with basic mixes + black an wight! I’m using it to accent my watercolour pices for more depth and I’m soo exited!
Yes! I've done work for my real portfolio that had a wider range of expression and skin tone, it just hasn't yet come up in my videos yet. Soon. soooon
@@kkderobst cringe?? You're a genius, a highly skilled artist and an entertainer. To quote Louise Hay, "You don't have to be wrong to change, you can be okay and just change. ". Looking forward to whatever you do and make in the future. (I kinda need the Iridori gouache video to survive though... the info, the gloves, the birth of Venus...)
That’s a lot of art supplies but I can’t complain. (I have way too many colored pencils.🥲) But I needed more erasers that actually work, so thank so you! UwU

One tip for the tape: you can use a normal hairdryer. The heat reactivates the glue and you don't mess the paper up.

I love your art! do you have a pinterest account, you're one of my major inspirations :D
I'm not a pinterest poster, but you can find stills of my art on my website. I plan on building a portfolio style page their cause my art is always in motion in video form. I'm filling out my insta slowlllllyyy. kkderobst.com
Anyone have the link to the pink sketchbook from amazon? I love it

LONG LINK BABY
I’m sorry if someone already answered this, but what pen nibs are you using? :3
Speedball!
@@kkderobst Thank you!!!
Does gouache work on jeans/clothes? 🤔
I’ve only ever used the cheap ones they have in school and I want to get professional ones but I like doodling on clothes with bleach(obviously with gloves) and not having color is really boring,
also where can I get a good set of them?
Otherwise it's nearly impossible to get fabric paint out.
where did you get the fountain pen?
The fountain pen I use to draw is a standard speedball one.
can you or have you demo'd prismacolors over gouache?
Haven't demo'd it yet, but I should show why I dislike it these days. The wax doesn't vibe with the matte finish.
I own all the Gelly Roll pens (weird flex) and only the classic colors give me issues with getting dried up :( the rest are incredible
aHA!

PLS DO A GOUACHE TUTORIAL
SOME DAY
LOL, I think the u in the name of the sharpener is pronounced, eww. Also, I have 100s of thriftstore Prismacolor. People take them for granted. I have baked a few, about 5 minutes and let them cool outside of the oven.
what are the sketchbooks u use!!! 1!1!1
I saw your art and I think you are definitely underrated, maybe if you did more drawings based on games/movies you would have a bigger audience. Also thanks for the art supply video :)
what is the long sketchbook called?
Paul Ruben Watercolor Sketchbook Hot Press! Sold on Amazon and Ebay.
@@kkderobst thank you!!
@kkderobst HOW do u find da patience to WAIT for paint to dry so u can go onto da next schtep..
PS.- Oooooooooooo😮😍🤩😍 prrrreeeettttyyyy shiny things!(rings) I LIKEEEE! 🫶🏻
Gouache dries almost immediately!
Sorry also do you have opinions about other goush like artists loft?
Any gouache outside of Holbein and Windsor and Newton isn't worth the capital. You won't be getting the same experience or learning with poor quality art supplies. I'd recommend starting with basic mixing colors, finding them second hand on ebay. Cheap and lets you now what gouache is really like (thick, smooth, buttery and not chalky and streaky)
@@kkderobst ty! I did go all in and get a higher quality pack with basic mixes + black an wight! I’m using it to accent my watercolour pices for more depth and I’m soo exited!
It was kismet…those pencils were meant to be found by an artist who was just perusing one day 😀
Do you ever experiment with different facial features and skin tone?
Yes! I've done work for my real portfolio that had a wider range of expression and skin tone, it just hasn't yet come up in my videos yet. Soon. soooon
Where are all your other videos?? I miss them.....
rebrand, I feel deep cringe at my own self. I plan to make more in the future
Here to complement the jewelry
No but for real I was thinking it before you said anything. lol

15:12 my favorite sharpener is one I found at the dollar tree by crayola. I’m constantly worried I’ll lose it 😥 and I can’t find the same type 😭

Inspired. Must art again after years of burn out.
That’s a lot of art supplies but I can’t complain. (I have way too many colored pencils.🥲)
But I needed more erasers that actually work, so thank so you! UwU
