I did watch both of them. Before it released, I was excited to watch both. Although one was disappointment, the other made it worthwhile

I think Kamal Hassan's movie Vishwaroopam would be a good example for loss suffered due to delayed release. The movie was suspended from screening by the High court due to some religious sentiments being hurt. And that issue took 2 or 3 weeks to solve. Multiple private screening for religious leaders and censor board members were kept to finally conclude and release the movie. Kamal hassan did mention the loss he suffered and the loss his investors suffered.
What makes a box-office clash?
Ans: Head-weight/ Heroism/ Over confidence that others will step down(Beast).
KGF1 - Dec 21 2018
KGF2 - Expected release date by people was Dec 2019 (Since they said something like half of KGF2 is already over - not sure)
KGF2 Poojai on march 2019
Covid Came - shooting stopped and was able to complete only in Dec 2020
Initial release was Oct 2020.
They planned for July 16 2021 release
So they released teaser in JAN 7 2021.
But COVID continued till Dec 2021
So missed 3 times(actual 2).
Since other countries have ended covid in 2nd wave(Expected to end in Dec 21) + KGF 2 can't be delayed any more, so they announced it early as Aug 2021, But Covid 3rd wave started but it end shortly, so KGF team would have planned to go as per their plan of April 14 2022 which was announced in AUG 2021 + RRR release date was 25 march 2022, so they got perfect release date + confidence + They had huge time for error checking in the movie.
So trailer released on March 27 2022 for April 14 2022 release

This time people choose content over mass athuthaan success for KGF2 in day1 itself + Day2 for beast ku easy ticket online la kedachuthu (asingam), because previously for vijay and ajith it was tough to get it. Trailer kuda bore adichuthu + vijay fans itself started to lose interest ennada eppathalum verum mass film nu sollitu + movie'um avalova yarukum pidikala + koncham covid oda side effect. Monday kuda houseful for KGF2 + Coming 2nd week KGF2 will completely beat Beast in own TN(Already beaten nu solluranga, but lets wait for this weekend), ithu beast and vijay ku periya asingam(Slap on the face). Ithunala 4th movie for nelson kuda sudden ah doubt achu but later it confirmed no chances sollitu.
Bookmyshow la for KGF2 they added only 2 critics so percent fell from 98% to 94%, beast ku neenachu parunga - 73% la stopped enga ithuku mela critics add panna yarum bookmyshow la book pannamatanga sollitu because it will go near 65%.
Neenga sonna antha Yes or No or maybe Internet la active aa irukura audience
Outside internet audience reacts differently and they would choose oly one movie
Even though beast is not as good as KGF, it'll bag more collection in Tamilnadu
Well this needs to be the least reason to be worried about. No point achieving box office collection when the script is shit.
