You are the only one on CZcams that I’ve found so far that has mentioned to wait a few minutes until the wick gets saturated. Everyone else just wants to show a video on how fore looks. Thanks for an actual demo with instructions.
hi. you're welcome😎
it will last 5 or 6 hours depending on the size of the wick
This is what i was looking for on CZcams. A poor mans rubbing alcohol candle/stove!!!
Great ideas you have sir! Thanks for sharing.
so quick and simple, awesome!
Thank you! I loved your video.
Awesome idea, thank you for sharing!
Great videos bro. I learned a lot with you and other preppers. CZcams is what I call the Preppers University International.
pure veg oil does better slower burn but same light
LOVE your channel,thanks
Great videos buddy keep it up
Very nice work, I like it.
love this idea
Rather than "wait a couple of minutes" for the wick to be saturated, just dip it in the alcohol and do it in a couple of seconds.
I love your videos I just found you and OMG love the videos :) new subber here :)
Thanks.......reminds me of the alcohol bunsen burner that came with my chemistry set when i was a boy.
thanks i thought of the idea and you confirmed it for me thanks
I've been testing this. It seems that if you tilt a bottle/ jar sideways and put the hole in the cap closest to the side (instead of the middle) you get a longer burn because the wick doesn't burn up. Im thinking its because as the alcohol drains down with the jar sideways it leaves less travel space for the fuel to travel up the wick making it easier to do so.
Great idea:)
you're welcome
Great video thank you! I do believe that it would probably work better and warm the pan more evenly if you put maybe six to eight small holes and small wicks?
Great Idea! could you do any night shots, or show the light output in a dark room?
Thank you soo much you clear my dought
SHROOMS!!!
this man knows whats going on
yeeeeet
where is the syringe and needle lol
what?
beatifull, man I wish everyone came around alcohol burner made from aluminium can used by some hiker, is so futuristic, anyway thumbs up and get invented
awesome!
Good idea,!! Thankz..
i found them with the candles and incense burners.
Very cool
Now I want a grilled cheese sandwich! =)
This is a wonderful hacked to know how long does this burn for
Magnifique 👍👍👍
do you have to pull the wick up at all? or does it not actually burn the wick at all?
Love it
Awsome
Good job thank you.
Thank you too! 🙂👍
really cool stove/heater ! what size diameter do you need to drill in the cap,and was that isopropyl alcohol. thank you great video.
Some other videos add small holes near the wick hole, is that necessary or doesn't matter either or?
Thanks very much.
you're welcome 🙂
Genius!
hi. glad you liked it! 🔥
The three can thing is an easy way to hold up the pan, but why not try getting one of those giant cans instead, cutting off the bottom, and knock some vents in the side for air flow? Of course, cutting in the vents might compromise the strength of the overall system, doubt it could handle cast iron. Just brainstorming lol
how long before it runs out of alcohol
thank you
You're welcome ✔
vao this is good
any isopropyl alcohol over 50% should work
would not suggest use pure vegetable oil
Wherever your from awesome accent.
How long does the flame last??
can you use any type of alcohol????
THank You for all your cool and very important vids! I am just wondering, is alcohol cheaper or cleaner or just an alternative - why use alcohol vs the lamp oil? which is better? Im asthmatic, is one cleaner than the other? hotter? also, is alcohol safe for heating (air) inside? thanks for any answers in advance! :)
Lamp oil is made out of the same stuff and a tiny amount of distilled water. Cheers!
alcohol burns very cleanly compared to lamp oils, it's a bit more dangerous if spilled while burning as it can burn with invisible flame.
be careful not to keep the container around where you are burning the fuel, if you spill you can burn yourself in a hot and invisible flame
Absolutely Brilliant idea to cook with...thanks deeply for sharinG!!!👍I have a younger friend who I want to take fishinG into the future and I could not trust hiS ability to cook with butane nor propane as hiS ADHD is off the wall and he would probably burn a campsite down if he used either!!!😱😱😱May Our Precious Creator of liFe bless you greatly for sharinG your lifegivinG skill with humanity especially durinG these turbulent times!!!✌🙏😇🌹🌞🌹☕🍵☕
Tgank you
you're welcome!
Nice alcohol lamp my friend.. just a question: for how long time it will burn?
depending on the wick and the type of fuel vegetable oil burns better in my to me
pick up a bottle of denatured alcohol, that stuff you had is about 1/3 water, and as the alcohol burns more and more of whats in there is water so it will burn nasty and eventually you will have to throw away some of the fuel because it's too high in water content.
a big can of denatured is cheap
what strengths of alcohol will work? I see yours says 70. will anything less work? thank you for idea
91 percent best
This might seem silly....? How do you put it out? Is there like a topper or I don't imagine water would work
hi. i just blow it out (just like candle)
how long does it burn?
depending on wick and fuel used
Where did you find the wicks at Walmart? I looked by the candles,
didn't see any of them.
So, it's been five years, any luck?
@@julioseviltwin2304 😂❤🙏
A natural, undyed cotton string or strip of this approximate size will wick it nicely. White shoelace can work if it's cotton, e.g. doesn't melt when heated with a flame, which indicates polyesters and inorganic fibres. Generally speaking, 1/4" cotton good, anything poly... = bad. Try camping, outdoor and surplus stores if you wanna find the actual 'wicks,' but everything is everything. Common sense for the win! Careful and good luck! Oh yea, and also f- walmart, even though I just shopped there today for something cheap. Support your local businesses and not China.
Would this work with a glass bottle? Or would it break
hi. i think it would work. (make sure the lid is metal)
Why does he sound like the government guy from southpark?🤣🤣
Why don't you fill it with Kerosene instead? It'll work with that set up so long as the hole cut snugly and the wick is kept at a short length and it'll probably be safer and it'll be MUCH brighter.
the alcohol doesn't smoke which is a plus; kerosene does tend to burn dirty as does vegetable oil. All three work in a pinch though! A small candle set in a can even will make a hot drink easily.
Shellite is a quarter the price of iso alcohol ... and burns just as clean.
All a man needs.
If you use a heat disperser with that you will have even heat!!!! or flame tamer!!!
he already shows that in another video, using a couple ceramic pots.
How long should I let the wick soak? I made one today and it won't stay lit
I just soak until it's saturated. hard to say why it's not staying lit. is it a professionally made wick? are you using 70% isopropyl alcohol. 50% doesn't work very well. it the wick long or shorter?
@@desertsun02 70% alcohol and a citronella wick. About 3 inches long give or more. I'm going to try some rope when I get home
is this a thick or thin liquid
+8 bit Gamer Thin. It's rubbing alcohol.
Does anyone know how long a small jar like that burns for?
Sorry for not getting back sooner Brittany, about 5 or 6 hours.
how big the jar i have burned a small 3 oz jar for over 20 hours over 4 days on and off not all at once but the alcohol burns faster the lower it gets
Do you have to replace the wick
SHROOOMS does 70% isopropyl alcohol work
Are those cans (of beans) unopened? LOL
Alcohol is ok but lamp oil may be better.
Cooking oil likes to burn the wicks.
would this work for kerosene
+Jeffrey Deguzman alcohol would be cleaner and safer to use. If you look around in the paint isle around Walmart you can find something called Denatured Alcohol. I use it in my lamps to use with a homemade ceramic pot heater in a Tent during colder weather when camping. Also works great for small to medium sized rooms depending on the size of the Heater you Have/make
Bryche Firstvitaplus I would recommend just getting a wick from the store that's made for a oil burner. I bought a dry tabletop tiki torch burner and put denatured in it and works great. Other thing is to make sure your wick is good and saturated and not to much is exposed when burning otherwise it will dry out to quick
and how to put it out ?
hi. just blow it out (same as a candle)🙂
So mind blowing
It just doesn't get much quicker than that!!
That's how I cook my steak.
I've done these before, and seen other chemicals used. On the fly, and disregarding quality, what other household flammable fluids will work? I've seen camping stove fuel, I believe was what it was
JUST SAYING REDUNDANCY WHEN U RVING, OR PREP life style more is better
Thanks for posting your videos. I love them, ...but I have to ask.........do you really still eat white bread? You know, white bread shouldn't even be classified as a food. I'm just saying.
None of your business what he eats, ffs! 🤨
@@Turrican60 Yea, right. Think about a world where NOBODY ever interfered with ANYONE. EVER.
Great idea. I was looking for something to use that was cleaner burning. In case of a power outage. I live in a really cold area and don't have a fireplace to rely on. I feel 10 of these on my kitchen table would pump out the heat you know. And probably not kill everyone inside right? Lol
hi. this alcohol lamp burns fairly cleanly, but for the cleanest burn possible, you might want to look at my 'ethanol blend fuel' alcohol lamp videos. i typically use 'indoor ventless fireplace fuel' in those. that is usually (if not always) an ethanol blend fuel.
