Since CS2’s Debut over 1 year ago, the question arised, will CS2 EVER be ported to CONSOLE once again? Counter-Strike has a long standing history of being on console from CSGO and the early days of 1.6 on the Original XBOX. Riot Games has JUST announced Valorant is being Ported over with its own version to Current & Future Consoles, Ps5 & Xbox. The Standing Question is Valve ever going to do the same with the Same level as care for CS2 in the Future? No, no market in console, plus its too much work, valve is a too lazy to drop an anticheat or a new operation so far
no doubt it with the whole cs market it's most likly never gonna happen unless they can get the steam market going on console aswell
No, but not because of the skin market but just because of the philosophy behind making CS2 replace CS:GO in order to keep the community on a single version of the game. Sure making a console version might attract new players but it also splits the community because CS has a poor history with console and crossplay is out of question as it would be way too unbalanced.
Theres a reason no one played csgo on console.
Valve did little to maintain the console ports and the game is not really designed for kb/m in mind but modern consoles do allow devs to implement kb/m support for their games now

@@HLVEYT no game had crossplay back then lol, that's not really a valid point to use against it. Marketing could of been better though.
CSGO wasn't even a well known title nor was it even Ported by valve, they didn't have more then a single decent update.
Couple of things here.
There was never a "mobile" port of CS2 ever conisdered.
All the strings relating to mobile are leftovers from the Dota underloards mobile version of source 2 .I think the strings are even still in deadlock.
Will CS2 ever return to console?
No.
The only reason GO even released on console is because it started development as a console port of CSS by hidden path. Valve followed through with this out of obligation. But after GO launched and hidden path left. They axed the console port internally and it got 1 maybe 2 updates.
It also didnt play very well and player counts were super low.
They also had beef with microsoft charging absurds amount of fees for patches and content updates even if they were free. Its why free updates for l4d2 and portal 2 ended up being paid DLC on xbox or not brought over at all.
Valorant is so mechanical easy and simple it could work. CS mechanics would NEVER work on console. It’s wayyyyyyy to hard

honestly, if the PS5 version of CS2 utilized the gyro aim of that controller (which is fairly good) I think it could work. but man it is unimagineable to imagine the rest of the controller inputs for CS2

or just plug your mouse and keyboard into the console
For the skins they could make you need a steam account to play while this sounds bad u could cross platform use of your skins without having to re buy or trade
Riot actually caring about their game is what’s going to make Valorant successful on console as it did on PC. Very few game developers care this much about their games when it comes to QOL, competitive integrity, patches and changes, etc.. What Riot does with Valorant makes Valve look like a shitty neglectful parent.

Sounds like an absolute waste of time and resources… fix the game we have.. Valorant and cs on a causal are not the same game it’s now just as close to Overwatch.. when it came out they felt pretty similar but now it’s a true “ability shooter”
Resources for most companies this scale don't really matter its just time that does which money cant buy. But yes it is.
Valorant has a better anticheat so they have the wiggle room to expand their audience range to consoles. I dont want to see cs2 on console until theres a solid anticheat

personally I say stay away from console. I just don't want to be battling aim assist with PC which is current problem rn in many multi-system games.

As far as I know r6 on console has no aim assist so I would assume a potential cs2 port would have zero aim assist
@@Xeulow it could, if it want to differ from valorant, but I think they gonna play it safe and see if valorants aim assist do good and just copy. You could argue that the r6 recoil is their aim assist 🤷♂️

Sadly I don’t think cs will be the main valve game in the next few years, this new game deadlock probably coming for console and if is successful cs2 might turn into a tf2 2.0
Counter strike is 25 years game its not about cs2 or go or whatever cs will never die only stuggle for some maybe untill they wake up valve is just in comfort zone with the playerbase right now so they do shit about the game cuz they already make money

Counter Strike will never die. Valve was being too lazy to fix the game up.
For a great Counter-Strike console version you would have to look at Counter-Strike Xbox edition for the OG Xbox as it is regarded as the best console game of Counter-Strike. This is due to changes like larger hotboxes, maps made for controller input, and of course content that was exclusive to that version at the time.

Idk how or why people are thinking val console will be cross platform with PC, let alone it being a good idea. Apex and Fortnite works because their game isn't built on needing to react fast and flick 50% of the time. Val console will just be a r6 competitor

But do items you purchase on pc through steam market transfer to console as well? I think that’s the question. Not sure how the steam market would work on console and how it would sync between pc and console.

I don’t really care if a console port would help grow the CS economy (specifically meaning VALVe making a billion in micro-transactions) if it doesn’t equate to the company growing and more money being put towards development and community building.
Valve makes so much money as it stands. And it’s not clear that they’re reinvesting a lot of the money back into the game.
But as it stands. We’ve gotten multiple updates this week which is a good change. There’s movement afoot. It’ll be interesting to see if they keep that going.
